  1. Hey

Welcome! So are you doing direct consular filing or are you filing in the United States?

Good luck! Lots of people, myself included, will be separated from their spouses for Christmas. We feel your pain

Wait what's DCR?? We just settled on moving ot the US so my research is minimal. How is it different? We were just going to file in the US and his parents were going to pay for us to use Apex Visa Services (They seem to be the most reputable, and came recommended from a friend)

I really feel like i'm just going to break during the holidays. I've never been an extremely emotional person til i started dealing with the K3 LOL

  2. The fact that immigrant intent is clear, will disqualify your husband from being awarded a B2 visa to visit during the holidays. From China, this just really isn't in the cards.

During the visa process, correct and accurate terminology and communication will be critical. What you did in China was "register your marriage", not simply "get our license".

Short courtships don't tend to be stumbling blocks to obtaining a spouse visa, particularly if you've already been together two months and will visit again a time or two during the process.

Also i see your spouse is from China. May i ask what are some ways to help a chinese spouse ease into American life? There's Chinese comforts in my city, but im sure there's things at home i could do to help him. Thanks

You'll find lots of opinions on the subject at Candle but primarily from the USC Husband, Chinese Fiance or Wife perspective. All I can offer is to help improve language skills and provide information. One of the things I did was to send lots of pictures of home and surroundings and provide as much pre-orientation as I could. If he doesn't drive, have him learn before he comes. Teaching my wife and her daughter was a nightmare.

Thanks again for the Candle link, i'm waiting for my profile to be approved

If you saw the way the people drive here in Shao Wu you would not want my husband to learn here LOL I would have to reteach him everything and fight him on things like "Honey, driving on the wrong side of the road to pass someone who's already going 80 is NOT ok!" lol Everytime we get in the car with his father i just start praying lol

I have shown him our home, and before i came to china took a video all inside hte home to introduce him to everything. Someone just suggested to me to maybe get him a dog. He's a huge doglover and they said maybe a dog would help him adjust since they haev no language barrier. Any thoughts on that?

  3. Thank you all so much for your warm welcome. I'm sitting here actually getting a bit upset because i'm leaving China soon and if we can't have the Chinese embassy take some mercy on us and allow my husband to come home from christmas, i really feel like i will lose it. It's good ot know I have people to talk to. This is probably going to test the furthest limits of my strength

  5. My husband and i got married on Sept 9th 2008 here in China. I've been staying in China ever since and will be departing for the US on Oct 25th. While staying here i was supposed to see the life and choose for us whether we would live in China or the US. Well, i recently made the ultimate decision of US! Nothing against China, but the life is far too different and my professional life back home would suffer too much (it already is and i've only been gone almost 2 months!)

I told my family we will apply for a K3. They're happy as they can be. Then they brought up an interesting want... They want him in America for Thankgiving - New Years or Valentine's Day. My family is all very very close knit so they wish to see thier new son/grandson/nephew/cousin. They also wish to throw us a small wedding ceremony since they could not be in China when we got our lisence. I told them the visa process takes about 6 months, they advised me to try and find an option for holiday visit, thus i found the B2.

I understand that getting a B2 might be difficult and it helps to plead your case well. I'm wondering since my husband will ONLY be visit for holidays (obvious in his time frame) and would be returning way before his K3 interview, do we stand a chance?? Also would it help if my family went ahead and bought his airline ticket so they could see that it's roundtrip and that he will be returning??

Also will it hurt us that we didn't have a ceremony here in China? My husband's family is very dead set on our wedding being huge (My husband is the eldest child) so they need a lot of time to prepare. They OKed us to get our lisence as long as we promised to come back as soon as we could for a Chinese ceremony.

My husband and I are starting to worry that our fast relationship and marriage is going to greatly hurt us. We managed to get lucky and find someone perfect for us and due to his grandparents fearing thier own failing health, got our marriage lisence sooner than expected. I think we're very fortunate that even though we seem to have moved fast to a lot of people, we have a strong relationship and strong marriage. We had an apartment in Xiamen, China but due to the racism of the landlady against me (oh trust me it was downright viscious) we moved in with his parents in Shao Wu. They've been witness to our marriage for the past month and are in a wonder at how healthy our relationship is. We argue of course but always resolve it well and talk things out. I guess i'm just trying to say that for the interview about if our relationship is real; we are not worried.

However, now as we're going through all the K3 info and rules, we're getting very scared. It seems people who've been together for even YEARS are having difficulty getting one. The more my husband reads the more depressed and worried he's getting. I'm doing my best to stay optomistic, but it's hard. We don't regret at all the speed of our relationship, but now the K3 process is making us scared about it.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much. I've been looking but wasnt able ot find any support for just China. Actually i had difficulty finding ANY info form people who've done this through China.

Also i heard a weird rumor that Women have an easier time getting K3s for thier husbands than men do for thier foreign wives. Is there any revelance to that? I'm sure all cases are treated with equal scrutiny but the people said the interviews were easier for them when the wife was american

  6. Hello my name's Lauren. I just joined because my husband and I are about to start our K3 process and we're beyond scared.

We had a very fast relationship so our families don't even know the real details. We've been too scared to tell anyone, yet our marriage works just fine so no one thinks anything's weird. We both admit that we were in a "i'm not getting any younger" state of mind when we found each other. We both wanted to get married and found someone who fit our life wants/needs/values/ and ideals.

Within 2 months of first contact I came to China on Sept 4th. We were planning on possibly getting married October 1st. Then his grandfather urged us to hurry, feeling that his health was failing. He said even if we couldn't have a ceremony he just wanted to know that his eldest grandson got married and to meet his wife. We agreed and were married only 5 days after my arrival on Sept 9th. This shocked even us at the time and when we would argue we would say "We got married too fast!" The landlady at our apartment was extremely racist against me (almost to the point of abuse). In that situation my husband stepped up, stood up for me and did everything he could to protect me from her. WIth that it was like a lightbulb switched and we were both extremely happy with our marriage.

The landlady situation got worse so we finally moved out and back home with his parents. Away from that stress our marriage has becomes something really really spectacular despite the seemingly strange circumstances. My husband is now proud to introduce me to anyone who will listen to him for 5 seconds. He used to be apprehensive about using words like "wife" and "laopo"(chinese for wife), but now he uses them so much ive almsot forgotten my real name haha.

My husband was really hoping I would like life in China, but was still open minded about living in America. Well as much as I love China, it's been beyond hard for me. And in my area in America there's actually a lot of Chinese people, traditional Chinese foods and culture, that would make him feel comfortable. So recently we made the solid decision for him to come to the US. We've always talked about both China and US as destinations but now it's official.

Now we're about to begin our K3 and we're scared to death. We're using a company that was recommended to us by a friend who recently got to bring his Korean wife home. We have a lot of fears, but i'm so glad i found this forum. I hope that we can as a lot of questions here and get advice on what to do.

BTW I wanted to offer one advise for couples being upset about not seeing each other...

    Webcams!!

Granted they won't help your case in proving the validity of your relationship, but when Guoliang and I were dating they were completely vital to us. Even if you can't hold your love, being able to SEE them is so amazing. We would do cute things like draw pictures for each other or invite friends nad family over to meet our s/o on the cam.

Just giving a piece of advise fo rall the amazing help that this site and forum offers. Thanks!
