  1. Updating status in I-130 petition filed for unmarried daughter 21 or older.

Petition was approved on June 21, 2013 and still waiting on further instructions/ letter for the next step.

I-797 approval Letter states the following:

The above petition has been approved. We have sent the original visa petition to the Department of State National Visa Center(NVC).

32 Rochester ave, Portsmouth, NH 03801. NVS processes all approved immigrant visa petitons that need consular action. Etc.

Approval was sent via I-797, Notice of action. I sent an email 7/24/14 to confirm what the next steps are.

Also found out that grandmother(Petitioner) is not doing so well so I will try to expedite right away if possible.

  2. Hello all,

My grandmother would like to file for her daughter. Grandma is 80 and daughter is 55.

What forms are needed to file. Daughter is living abroad with a B1 visa but has decided to

live with her mother to care for her rather than visiting for 4months. I need to reconfirm what is exactly needed for this process.

    Grandmother= Naturalized Citizen

    Daughter= Living abroad.

I have the following so far:

    1)I-130 form

2)Copy of Grandma's US passport, naturalization papers

3)Copy of daughters birth certificate, foreign passport.

Do I have to submit I-864 and G-325a. I dont really see any clear cut process on this.

What other supporting documents would I need. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  3. Sorry i have been MIA from the forum.

My wife went through finger printing 2 times and she has been having problems. FBI check rejected the prints.

Today she received a blue letter stating that she has to provide:

1)Signed Affidavit regarding criminal history supported by porlice clearance or police records from each

place you resided from date she aquired conditions.

2)If police clearances, criminal background checkls are not available for any location, submit an

explanation and other other evidence to support affidavit. Evidence can include responsible

person who have knowledge and can attest to any contact with any law enforcement.

More problems. ANyone else been went this?

Today we went down to 1 police plaza in New York city for a Good Conduct certificate from the police department.

    See link: http://www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/html/record_inquiries/public_inquiry.shtml

Went pretty smooth I must say. We waited around 20mins and they fingerprinted my wife and took down her information.

Now we wait 10 days to pick up the certificate. Now I have to create an affidavit to send in with this certificate when

we pick it up. Will keep you all posted. Also hope this helps those who are going through this event.

    ------------------------------------

    What is good conduct certificate:

The Mission of the Public Inquiry & Request Section is to process applicants for Good Conduct Certificates,

which are criminal history searches within the environs of New York City,

indicating whether or not the applicant has a criminal history.

  4. Hi,

Looks like the finger print was not getting processed on their system for some reason and they want you to provide them with the police clearance and criminal records from your end. Nothing to worry, just go to the local police station, which you seemed to have already found, send them the clearance. Hopefully she has a clean record! Good Luck

Yes shes clean. Just hate the run around.

We are heading out there tomorrow just hope that we can get this over with its driving us nuts.

The system just wouldnt accept her finger prints for some reason. The person in the office

would have to manually overide to accept and now this local police pit stop. City workers are the worst

and just praying it smooth sailing with the document requirements.

  6. hi there, take your noa1 with you when you travel to belize, read it carefully it is a one year extension to the validity of your wife's greencard. so your wife would present current/expired greencard/passport and noa1. then no problems!!!! happy travels.

    GOOD LUCK!

I was thinking that but didnt want to have any problems at the airport. Will be sure to have all our documents when

heading out. Thanks for the quick response.

  7. Hello Everyone,

Just got home from the interview and it was a success. My wife was nervous and quick to answer questions before the interviewer finished asking but in the end we got approved. The interviewer asked questions like when we dated, how we met, did i meet her family? etc. She then asked about my divorce and I guess she had questions about the fact that I divorced and married right away but I explained that I filed for divorce years before it actually came to an agreement. In all the lady stated that she wanted to be sure that we were not getting married for just a green card.

My wife got her I-551 stamp and will be recieving her green card in the mail within a month. In all Im just glad this part is over and we can now focus on our life together.

Thank you all for your support throgh this process. It was easy knowing that I could read and find out things on this forum. If anyone has any questions Ill be glad to answer based on our experience.

Thanks and good luck to everyone.

  8. Recieved my wife EAD card today (expires 12/12/09).

Called up SS to verify what document are needed and was told that my wife can not get ss because her B1 Visa is now expired. The lady stated that I need to call IRS to get a tax Id. Was hoping that someone knows a little more and can give us some tips. Was planning on going to SS office with Foreign Passport, EAD card and try our luck.

    Brief history

Wife entered legally was inspected on a B1/B2 visa. Then she overstayed and now her visa expired last month. Not sure if she can get SS but wanted to try anyway. Any input appreciated.

Also we wanted to get a Non-drivers Id so she doesnt have to carry her passport around and in NY they require an SS.

    Happy Holidays everyone .

    More update on our progress.

Went to Social Security today with:

    1-EAD CARD

    2-BIRTH CERTIFICATE

    3-MARRIAGE LICENSE

    4-PASSPORT

Passport had the original name so brought marriage license as proof of new name.

Took us about 1hr to get through security but once we got in took 10mins and it went smooth.

We didnt need i-94 or valid visa which was our major concern just the items listed above. So in 2 weeks

wife should have her SS# (valid only with EAD).

Hello, I've noticed under your signature that you expedite the process of your I-765. How did you do this? What are the basis to expedite the process? Thanks.

I expedited because of hardship. At the end of the year my job was laying off and also my wifes mother has been in and out of the hospital and i explained to them that my wife wanted to help out because the bills were building up. Currently I found a new job and will be Starting on Jan 5 so I thank god for that. Job didnt lay off as yet but its coming around.

  10. What documents would you need besides the EAD card. My wifes B1/B2 visa is expired last month. But she has a valid foreign Passport and EAD card would that be enough or does she need more documents?

  12. Actually just read this on USCIS website:

On December 8, 2008, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you.

    Expedite worked.

hi all.. i have been reading this thread for a couple of times now just checking of the updates of October filer since I am october filer too. anywayz just waiting for my EAD approval now im curious how did u manage to expedite ur EAD? coz i do want to get a job ASAP coz im going crazy just to stay in the house.. :bonk:

I would suggest you fill out a timeline so that we can see what your progress is. But as for my EAD I didnt wait I did it after 2months. My excuse was that I may be getting layed off at the end of the yeare and that my wifes mother is very ill and her medical expenses is now catching up to us. I pay all expenses and in the past 2-4yrs she has been in and out of the hospital. 2months before I decided to expedite she has to amputate all her toes as she is a diabetic. The person I spoke to was really understanding and I guess she made it happen. Either that or my EAD was due for this months based on my timeline.
