  1. We filed the petition since Februay 2008, but after the big storm has passed, we finally have our interview appointment. I was very surprised it took just a few days to get an appointment date after I mailed the packet 3.

I heard that the interviews were generally at least 90 minutes long. Will you folks tell me what kinds of questions I should be expected? I think this is a broad question. Any advice will be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

  2. I am not clear by what you say if you are the USC.

The consulate section is actually located accross the street from the embassy in the high rise buliding. You could start there. The section has a duty officer to help American citizens with problems. They do not work on visa problems but can advise you or help you make contact with the embassy section.

Another avenue to seek help is to go to any Thai post office, buy a pin number which allows you to call X number of times to speak to a human.

I remember your first post about your situation. I am not certian but I do not think you can do what you are asking. There is an experation date for the petition.

Thanks for your advice. I've actually had it sorted out, fortunately. I spoke on the phone with a person at the consulate and was told to mail the required documents. It sounded like they received my letter and somehow decided to let me proceed with the petition.

  3. I have been trying to contact the Consulate at the US Embassy in Bangkok for a couple weeks now by snail mail, email, and telephone. The embassy website provided a number for the USCIS in Bangkok, so I called the number and spoke to a lady who told me to go to the Consulate section at the embassy between the hours of 1-3 pm.

I have gone to the embassy before for the tourist visa interview and when I was there I noticed that the staff did not allow anyone without the appointment to enter the compound.

I'm not sure if I should follow the lady's advice and go to the embassy. I really need to speak to someone about revalidating my petition. Has anyone ever tried to contact the embassy and actually susceeded? How did you go about doing that?

  4. Because both the petitioner and I moved, it was months later when I received packet 3 from the embassy. To make the long story short, by the time I had the packet 3 in hand, we both decided to end things between us (it was before we found out that our petition was approved).

Around 2-3 months later, I received a letter from the embassy asking whether I would still want to proceed with the visa application. The letter was dated December 1, 2008 and it said that I had 60 days to respond and to request that the petition be revalidated. Anyhow, because we already broke up, I chose to go on with my life and do nothing about this approved petition.

Now let's fast forward to the present...

The petitioner and I decided that we want to try again. We made up and got back together. I forgot to mention that the petitioner only received NOA1 but NOA2 seemed to be returned to USCIS. When I look up the case status online, the case status reads DOCUMENT OTHER THAN CARD OR TRAVEL DOCUMENT BEING HELD FOR 180 DAYS SINCE RETURNED AS UNDELIVERABLE. It also shows that the post office returned document/I-129, Petition for Fiancee as undeliverable and suggests that he contact USCIS within 180 days or else the document will be destroyed, which he did and now is still waiting for the letter from USCIS.

So my questions are, does this mean the petition is now no longer at the embassy in Thailand? Is it still possible for me to ask the embassy to revalidate my petition and continue gathering required documents listed on packet 3?

I mailed a letter to the embassy and asked for revalidation on 31 July 2009 and so far I have not yet heard anything.

    Your advice will be appreciated.

  5. I do hope it's NOA2 although i'm not really sure what to think at this point. I started this whole process thinking it would be just 4 months to get the approval but i guess not all of us gets that privilege.

It's also been 6++ months for me since NOA1 and all i've seen is a mysterious touch

i think u shud call them if its been past 6 months .. . . have u tried? and what have they said?

I tried to call once and was told that my application was indeed outside their processing time. However, since i'm not the petitioner i can't do anything further...the rep needs the permission to look into the file and see what might be the problem. My boyfriend hasn't had a chance to try calling USCIS himself, so we decided to wait and see.

  6. Hi,

I've now been waiting for my NOA2 since Feb. and I was sort of hoping I'd be able to find out more about my delay after processing times were updated putting my case officially overdue. Well, it hasn't mattered so far--not much difference on getting any info and I've tried a few avenues so I'll continue waiting.

Anyway, obviously I'm getting more and more worried there's a problem with my case. Does anyone out there have experience getting your NOA2 approved after it was in processing for more than 8 months? If so, did you ever find out why the processing took so long for you? Did you have to contact anyone in particular and was it effective? (I've already contacted my Senators and Congressman)

Thanks for the info, I'm holding up some hope here.

    Hi MLD,

I think I feel your frustration. NOA1 was received in mid March for me and since then there was apparently one touch on the case. So, after the processing time has been updated on the USCIS website, I decided to give them a call and see what is up. I was told that the case is outside of the processing time (like I couldn't figure that out already) and because I am the benificiary (sp?) I need to have the petitioner call them.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Anyway, good luck to you! I hope you will get your NOA2 soon!

  7. Just made a call to USCIS today to follow up on my case and was told that it is outside of the processing time...duh. (Filed in early march and got the NOA1 on March 17). I was also told that I would have to put the petitioner on the phone or have him give them a call in order for them to look into our case and see what is wrong.

My question is, should I do anything else at this point? My boyfriend said he'll give them a call... Do you think USCIS customer service can actually do something about this? I guess I will just have to keep the faith for the time being.

  8. Hi everyone,

My apology. I feel rude for jumping right into posting questions without properly introducing myself, so here I am...First off, I just want to let y'all know that I've found this board to be very helpful. Many thanks to all of you for your help and your knowledge in this long but rewarding process.

I am looking forward to being with the love of my life. Please wish me luck! :D

  9. [sometimes the USCIS webiste is suck, it didnt worked for me, we filed feb 28 and we saw touched at august 6, first touched we had after the filing, all of the shocked hubby got a mail on the box august 12, and its our approval, our noa2, i hope if u dont get lucky by email u will get lucky by snail mail, check u mail box from time to time. hope u got ur noa2 soon. its on your way! good luck.

    Hi Bevs,

Thanks for your reply. I will have to tell my boyfriend to check his mailbox. He actually has moved from the address we have on our petition, so hopefully our NOA2 doesn't get lost :(

  10. Hello,

I am new to the forum but have been on the K1 journey for quite some time now. It's been over 7 months of waiting for NOA2 for us. I'm wondering if this is something I should be concerned about. The not knowing part is very frustrating.

Seems like there was a touch on 8/21/2008 but still there is no signs that our case has been approved. Wondering if anyone who files in March is still waiting for their NOA2.
