  1. What was outcome of the interview??

IF AOS was approved but you are waiting for the green-card you cannot get EAD, only NON-Residents can get EAD, a resident uses green-card or an I-551 stamp to show eligibility to work.

Did you get an I-551 stamp in passport? If not and you are approved for green-card, then do an info pass appointment for the I-551 stamp, this will allow work.

    Thank you!

We were approved at our interview and I will try to make and info pass appt. to inquire about our status

  2. We went to our AOS interview on 10-16-08 and we have not received my wife's green card. I never filed form i-765 because my wife wasn't planning on working and I didn't think it was going to take this long to get her green card. I tried this morning to E-file form I-765 and when I got to the point of certifying the form it said that a payment of $340 was due. I thought that if you had filed form I-485 after july 2007 then the I-131 and I-765 were $0 fee?

  3. When making an InfoPass appt what should I choose from the following?

You need Service on a case that has already been filed

You are a new Permanent Resident and have not yet received your Permanent Resident Card

You want to file an application in person

You need information or other services

    You need a form.

    Thanks in advanced!!

I just tried "You are a new Permanent Resident and have not yet received your Permanent Resident Card" and the response was: "At this time, there are no information appointments available for the office in your area. Please try back again later. " Do I just need to keep trying every day? Also, when you do an InfoPass appt does it let you pick a date or do they pick it for you?

    Thanks again!

  4. 30 days or so is the longest it should take, do and INFO-Pass appointment and ask whats up, and REQUEST an I-551 stamp they took your EAD so the I-551 stamp is the only evidence of work authorization, and legal presence.

  5. We had our AOS interview on 10-16-08 and the officer told us that my wife was approved. She took our EAD paper and said that the green card would be delivered within a couple of weeks. We didn't get a stamp on her passport and I've read that not everyone gets a stamp, so I am not too worried about that. I did call the USCIS customer service to inquire about her green card and I was told that they would look into it. Is it normal to take this long for a green card to be delivered? We did not move, our status has not changed online since 10-17-08, should I be worried? Has this happened to a lot of people?

You need to make an infopass appointment at your local office and find out what has happened to your Greencard as you should have had it by now.

Have you had any updates on you status on line? Do you have your name on your mailbox? you need to find out if the card has been issued and has got lost in the mail. Calling the 1-800 line is no good they are just a call center and can not see any more information than you can online.

I am currently working in TN, when I get back to Michigan I will make an Infopass appt. Thanks for your help!

  7. I just found this forum today and I have a few questions:

I met my wife about 2 years ago in Mexico. We wanted to get married in Mexico, but later found out that it was quicker to get a K-1 Fiancee visa than a K-3/4 visa. We applied for a K-1 visa and in the mean time we had a child in Mexico. Since I am an American citizen we went to the US embassy and got a report of birth abroad for my daughter and our daughter had her US passport within a week. My wife came to the US last year on a K-1 visa. We got married last year on October and we applied for Adjustment of Status. We have her interview this week and her English is still not very good.

    1. Can I be her interpreter? If not can my mom be her interpreter or do we need to get a "certified" interpreter? If I need a "certified" interpreter does anyone know of any good/cheap interpreters in the Detroit area?

    2. Can our daughter come to the interview with us or do we need to find someone to take care of her? (She is only 18 months old.)

    3. I really don't have a lot of paper work with both of our names, house is still just in my name, bank account still just in my name. For example the bank would not let me add her to my account because she didn't have a social security number. We have a ton of pictures from different places will that be good enough?

    Thanks in Advance!
