  1. Joy of joys, just had the e-mail that an RFE was mailed out yesterday (12/10). I submitted the DS-3025 so I've got my money on a request for an I-693.

    Hi,

We had submitted only the DS-3025 and received an RFE for incomplete I-693. We only just got the email from USCIS that:

"Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Response to request for evidence received, and case processing has resumed."

I hope this means that the USCIS has reviewed the RFE data and accepted it and all is well.

The RFE only required the following parts of the I-693 to be completed:

    Page 1, Part 1

    Page 3, Part 2, Item 5

    Page 5, Part 5

If you check out the form, it only requires the applicant's biographic data (Part 1), the vaccination record (Part 2, Item 5) and the Doctor's certification (Part 5). The medical exam is definitely not required. However, most of the surgeons wanted to do the entire medical exam (as others have found).

After a frustrating round of calls, my wife persuaded the surgeon to accept a fax of the first page of the RFE which explained what was needed to be completed in the RFE, and a copy of her vaccination record (DS-3025). The surgeon took a look at it, confirmed that she was fully vaccinated and agreed to transcribe the record and fill out the appropriate parts of the I-693. Took us ten minutes in the doctor's office (and $100) and we left with the completed I-693 plus the RFE letter in a sealed envelope. We also got a copy for ourselves.

I see your local office is Boston. If you have the identical RFE, and getting the run around from the civil surgeons, you can try our approach.

  2. Hi Everyone,

Just received our NOA2 hard-copy yesterday and it seems like our petition was sent directly to the consulate in Trinidad. Below is a partial quote from the letter.....

" The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to your consulate. Please contact the consulate with any questions about visa issuance, or if you would now like them to forward the petition to a different consulate."

Nowhere is there any mention of the National Visa Center within the letter. I've seen samples of the NOA2 on this site and they do specifically reference the NVC. Has anyone else received a similar NOA2? Maybe I missed it, but I can't remember seeing anyone else on VJ reporting this type of response in the NOA2.

    Thanks.

Edit: After I looked at my NOA2, it says the same thing, that it has been forwarded to the consulate, but I know that it did go through NVC first. You still have to call NVC to see if it's been forwarded and you will still get a letter from NVC maybe next week sometime saying that it has been forwarded to the consulate.

Thanks DavChels. I'll call NVC and check.

  4. NOA1_2.pdf

thanks for the help guys :star:

but on your signature timeline it says they cashed cheque oct 14? that got me confused again hahaha lol

just checked the stamp by vsc at the back of the cheque above the case number it says 100308 which is oct 3 2008 and as i said earlier the online thing said that they received the petition oct 3 also. i guess i wanna stick with the oct 3rd coz i know i will just feel bad if i put sept 22 and then count days behind and would count longer coz vsc actually counted me in their system oct 3 plus it makes me one of the 1st filers for oct and not the last of sept and it would be easier for me to check with you guys coz the oct file group is not that big yet.

how about you guys?what date was stamped by vsc behind your cheque? and what date does your online petition say that uscis recieved their docs? i was just wondering where we all stand hehehe thanks for the info and good luck to all october filers! B)

I said to Tom they must not want his money!

Kaye, check out the cropped pdf attachment of my NOA1. The NOA1 hard copy shows the "RECEIVED DATE" which is the date the VSC received the document from USPS and is the date stamped on my return receipt (this was oct. 02 for me). In your case it should be sept. 22. The "NOTICE DATE" for me is oct. 03 (which was also the same on the online petition) and should be the same for you too. The notice date is the one that matters. I hope the attachment shows up properly.

  5. Glad someone started this thread!!

I filled last week on 10/7 and they cashed the check on 10/10, so I'm hoping for NOA1 soon. Quick question -- how do they send the NOA1 via email or regular mail?

Look forward to waiting and celebrating this process together.

You can check the NOA1 date online. If you have access to your cashed check image (available to me from my bank), you can get your receipt number which should be stamped on the back of the check. The number will probably start with the letters EAC followed by 10 digits. Go to the following link:

    https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/caseStatusSearchDisplay.do

and enter this number. It should list the NOA1 date. I don't know if they'll email the NOA1 but you'll definitely receive one in the mail. Hope this helps.

  6. Sent in the paperwork on September 30 and got the NOA1 on October 03 (hard-copy on October 09). I was a bit surprised at the quick response  . I hope this is a trend. Well, it's a waiting game now. Good luck to all!!
