  1. yay! I received EAD on Sunday!

I know mailman don't work on Sundays so I must received it on 18th or 19th.

It's been so cold and raining, I didn't wanna go outside.

I've been busy doing last minutes Christmas shopping.

I'm so tired of going to packed mall, but looking at Christmas tree and presents makes me happy.

I can't wait to find out what my hubby get for me this time!

    K. I should go back to wrapping the gifts while my husband is gone, and go find some more gifts.

    Merry Christmas everyone!!

  2. If you don't use social security# to work, I don't think there is a way immigration office can trace back in the future.

But if you get caught while you are working, you will get deported.

I never seen one in person, but I've heard some incidents that students working under the table had to go back home.

(F1 students are not supposed to work)

I say it all depends on your luck.

I am chicken so I would wait and I'm just gonna live off my credit card.

I am waiting for EAD to come in mail since they sent me notification email.

It's been only 2months since I sent the package.

I don't know when you sent the package, but it's not that long.

Your spouse knows why you are not working, and I like your attitude that you're willing to do anything to help her out.

Don't get too depressed. Things are looking up.

  3. No word yet on my EAD but I was wondering. As soon as you get approved can you go back to work? I had a 90 day EAD on the i-94 and the guy I worked for is holding my job for me but is getting antsy. He says he'll be happy enough to get me back on receipt the approval notice. Any thoughts?

I'm not sure if you can start working with approval notice (you mean the e-mail?) only.

I had EAD before with my F1 visa.

I already had the card on my hand, and found a job.

The job needed me right away, but my EAD wasn't effective yet.

So the first 3 days, I had training on the job but no pay.

The employer said they can't pay me cause my EAD wasn't good and it's illegal to pay me.

But they reimbursed me the 3 days pay when my EAD became effective.

They added extra pay to the next paycheck.

So I guess it depends how flexible your employer would be.

well, I hope you hear good news soon!

  4. congrats everyone!

I also received AP in mail today.

I received two piece of paper. Is that mean I can travel twice?

I also received e-mail today that says they sent out my EAD.

I can't wait to start working again!

I got bored watching tv all day even if my husband thinks it must be nice to do that.

    Good luck to everyone.

I got 2 pieces of paper also. I think the first time you use it they take away one of them, and they stamp the second one. The stamped one will then be the one you can use for all future trips. At least that's what I understood. Maybe someone that already used it can advise if this is really how it works! :)

And congratulations to you to!! Now waiting for the EAD and the Interview letter.. :hehe:

    Thanks Rosie, that makes sense.

Maybe Shieun tells us how it works when she comes back.

I have no plan to travel for a while though, cause "no money honey" :bonk:

  5. Thanks everyone for congrats, and hope you guys get approval pretty soon.

    Rosie and Kimcorene,

Thanks always for updating the spreadsheet.

Now, I was just wondering if you can sort the data by the dates packages are sent out instead of the alphabetical order.

That way, you can see the approval from top to down, and those of who waiting for their approvals know where they are standing.

I know you guys are busy, but please take this in consideration.

    thanks :goofy:

    Excellent suggestion- working on it.

    Rosie and Kimcorene,

    Thanks for update!

It looks like top half people on the list are either approved for EAD and AP or have interview date...or have RFE

Makes me wonder why some people have interview date but no EAD/AP.

Just cause they are lucky? or its something to do with their visa they're adjusting from or their countries?

Anyways, thanks again for your hard work!

  6. Thanks everyone for congrats, and hope you guys get approval pretty soon.

  7. Hydey,

Things are might be different in your state, and disregard this if you are applying for a private school.

California States college has "resident" and "non-resident" fee.

International students are considered as non-resident and will be charged a lot more than regular students.

To be considered as resident, you have to have GC and have residence in the states for a couple years. ( i think)

The requirements are should be on the college website, so you should go check it out.

Community college are usually cheaper than 4 years University, so it is economical to go to community college for the first 2 years and then transfer to University.

That's what I did and I liked it cause classes are small and easier, saved me money, it was refreshing to go to a new campus after 2 years, and I got a extra degree.

I wont put AA degree on my resume, but it might help if you are still in the college and want to make your resume longer lol

    Good luck

  8. So I went to Biometrics this morning - all went well except for the fact that it was raining and it messed up my "look good for the picture" hair!!! I looked like a drowned rat once I got inside, but it was a smooth process and quite interesting. I don't know why I didn't even realize that they scan your fingers...I guess I'm old and expected to come out with ink everywhere! It was interesting to see all the different races in the office and now I'll wait to see if my file gets touched online. Who is up next?

Did you have to put your hair up when taking a picture like on passport photos??? Just a thought...

They didn't ask me to put my hair up and I have long hair.

  9. Oh Cr@p! I think I may have made a mistake on my I-765! I was just reading another post out on the forum and had totally forgotten that I have had permission to work here before! I had a J-1 visa and worked for an au-pair agency which brings us from Europe for a year. They fill out all of the paperwork, etc. Well the form asks if we ever applied for work authorization before and now I don't know if my answer "no" is right! I've never applied to USCIS for anything before (everything was done in London) and have no documentation from any of the J-1 stuff, since it was light years ago , in 1988! My Biometrics is on Thursday, maybe I should mention it...or call...or something...what the heck should I do?!!!

    Beantown Babe,

I had EAD through F1 visa.

I wasn't sure if I check renewal or permission to apply on I-765, so I called USCIS.

They told me it's my renewal since it is not my first time applying for EAD.

When I applied for EAD through F1 Visa, I didn't apply myself since my school took care of it.

So i'm thinking your agency might took care of paper work when you had J1.

Do you remember getting a card that says work authorization?

I don't know anything about J1 visa, so I might be wrong.

Either way, you need to wait for RFE to do something about it.

Hope everything goes smooth with you.

  10. Just thought to share my walk-in biometrics experience with you guys

I did walk-in biometrics thinking it's okay things to do.

I see people doing it all the time here in visa journey.

It turned out, I was told that they don't do walk-ins anymore since 9/11 and i was asked who told me i could do this.

Although they gave me a hard time, i got to have biometrics done anyways cause the place was so empty.

I say try it out anyways if you live close from the office, or don't mind traveling.

but for those of you live far from the office, it might be good idea if you just wait for the appointment date.

Oh one more tip, leave your phone in your car!

You don't wanna walk back to parking like i did :bonk:

  11. Austin,

I am a firm believer of "what goes around comes around" and "things happens for a reason."

Needless to say on the first one, for the second one, i can think of...

    1. you realized that you are surrounded by good friends and family

    2. you learned the lesson and got smart about marriage law

    3. when you find the one next time, she will be there for you, not for your american $, assuming that she knows about the bankruptcy

    4. you actually helped her family backhome financially through her..remember what goes around comes around. you did a good thing.

    5. maybe you can write a book or be in a documentary and make some money?

Just think positive, and I bet the love of your life is just around the corner:)

    nat

  12. I'm sorry to hear that.

I would recommend to shop around too.

    My medical was $100 +$75 for a shot +$75 for x ray.

The doctor told me that they don't take insurance, but i could get the bill and send the bill to my insurance company directly.

I was too lazy to do that, so i don't know if that works though.

I don't think you wanna know my doctor cause i live in California, but hope you find a good one.

    wish you the best

  13. Austin,

I'm so sorry to hear things like that happened to you.

It must be so hard. I can't even imagine.

I know it's not my business, or yours anymore, but the woman sounds like she has some serious mental issues.

Maybe she grow up in not so peaceful environment that turned her into that person.

I kinda feel bad for her. she needs good psychiatrist to treat her condition.

Oh i know you are just kidding, but don't drink too much.

I don't want you to turn into alcoholic cause you deserve better.

    wish you the best,

    nat

  14. I was looking at my NOA and I saw that I was assigned a completely new and different Alien number for my AOS. Is this normal or should I follow up on this?

Same here. I just assumed that it was replaced to a new one cause I applied from different status.

The first time, I had F1 status, but now it is based on marriage.

But I'm just talking, hope anyone knows why.

    I started to get worried.

  15. HI Everyone! Count me in as October fllers.

They received the package on the 8th and I just received appointment notice for biometrics on 29th.

Did anyone here heard about walk-ins? I read some people did walk in for biometrics in another forum.

I wonder if it fasten the whole process. I'm thinking of giving a try anyways.

Oh, I registered my receipt number online fine, but i don't think those are up to date.

I already have biometrics appointment on my hands, but the website only says they received my package.

Kimcorene, I'm bored at home too. I don't even have a real dog.

We only have imaginary dog cuz we live in apartment..
