  1. I just got off the phone with the NVC. I have called everyday this week and always the same. "We have not received your case yet" I called today and they said they received it September 16th but it has not been entered in the system yet. So this is good news. Hopefully all of you that were approved at the CSC in the middle of August are now at the NVC and just waiting to be entered in in the next few days or even today. Once they enter it in then they will assign the case number.

  2. I called the USCIS today and asked if they could track my case. I was approved on August 16th at the California service center. They escalated my call up the ladder. After waiting 2 and a half hours on hold someone answered. They were able to see my file and it was still sitting in California waiting for shipment. What they told me was the government waits until they have a full load and then ships the files to NVC. He told me it should be shipped in 10 more business days but I really think it was a guess on his part. Also, he could have just assumed it was sitting in California still because it did not have a NVC case number. He did seem sincere and educated on the process. I am still hoping it will be Friday. So it will be interesting to see when those of us, who were approved on August 16th at the CSC, will be sent to NVC. I did ask if it was country specific and he said no. They wait until they have a full shipment and then send the files. Seems they must have enough by now.ClockWatch2.gif

  3. I changed my profile since I am going thru a divorce. So do not pay much attention to my profile. Sorry for the confusion. We applied for a IR-1 Visa. It is currently sitting at the NVC. We have not completed all the documents yet for it to be approved and then sent to the Embassy in Kiev. We have been married almost 3 years. She never visited the USA. She was having difficulties with getting her international passport for travel. She could care less about getting the divorce and will not be much help at all. I just want to know what is the quickest and easiest way for me. I will be traveling there since we already had plans to meet at ZAGS. I am not sure if they ZAGS people have anyway they can help me or not.

  4. I need a little direction or advice. I am married to a Ukrainian citizen. We have been separated for about 4 months now. She currently lives in Ukraine and I live in the USA. I am a US Citizen and She is a Ukrainian Citizen. She has never been to the USA. We did file for a visa but it is currently at the NVC. I would like to get divorced in Ukraine. She did agree to meet me at ZAGS but now that has changed her mind. She is going to work in Moscow now. She said she does not need the divorce because she will not marry again. So I need other options for the divorce. I would like to make it easy as possible. I already have my ticket to go to Ukraine in early September. We do not have any children together or own any property together. So any help, advice, opinions will be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!!!!!

  5. I have used pretty much all the calling card and services mentioned. I just started using a new one since they offered a trial offer. www.ciaocellular.com You pay a $1 and get $5. They offer the best prices and they are per minute rounding with no other fees. I call Ukraine and I only pay 10 cents per minute(cellular). I was paying 13 cents with the other companies. Calls to Russia are much cheaper. The call quality is pretty good. Close to the best or maybe the best I have used for the 15+ companies I have tried. You will be given a local access number and do not need to dial a pin. Also, you can save speed dial numbers so you don't have to enter the overseas number everytime. No this is not a advertisement! I have been looking for a VOIP service that offeres unlimited to Ukraine but I have not found one yet. So if anyone knows of one, let me know.

  6. I usually search at www.igougo.com. Just check the boxes of the websites you want to search. It's a little annoying when all the new windows pop up but I have used this for the last few years. I fly from Phoenix to Odessa and my tickets have been running right around $1000 give or take a $100. I have noticed flights from New York to Odessa cheaper because it includes Aerosvit and Aeroflot sometimes. You can also look at www.transaero.com. This is a Russian airline and at Christmas I paid $700 from New York to Odessa. I rarely buy tickets more than two weeks in advance and I have been lucky booking them only 2 to 3 days out.

  7. Thank you everyone for your response. I have taken safety measures by changing Liana's flight to a Delta direct flight from Kiev to New York on Sept 5. It was cheaper also. I don't want her first flight experience to be a bad one, she may never want to travel alone again. :o I have Hawaiian Air Miles and they are affiliated with Delta, so I get alot of miles!!!

Aerosvit has or had some good deals going on. I just looked into a flight out of New York to Odessa and it was $830 including tax, roundtrip of course, that changes by date and every few hours. Airlines change the rate I think 4 or 5 times a day. I forget what times they change but its always worth checking a few times a day.

  8. I think the entry stamps probably do help. Can't speak to the marriage stamp, but it does beg a question. What happens to your stamp when you replace or renew your passport? Do you get another one from zags? For that matter, what does a Ukrainian do when their travel passport is renewed? I know the internal one isn't, so is that where their stamp goes?

The marriage stamp is in her internal passport. She had to replace her internal one a while back and she just went to zags. They put a new stamp in her internal passport. I am sure if I need to replace or renew my passport I can do the same. The stamp lists our marriage date, my wife's surname and birth year. It also lists our document number I believe. I am not sure this is a mandatory stamp for me but maybe it is for a Ukrainian citizen. I am sure my wife just wanted the stamp in my passport to show ownership of me as well as a return to sender if I am ever lost in Ukraine. Kind of like mom writing your name in your underwear when you went to camp as a kid.

  9. Thats interesting. We had to get one for Nova Kakhovka which I believe she had to go to Kherson because it is the main office. I think we did get one just in Nova Kakhovka and also Nikolaev. We have had issues with her international passport so we started this process a year and half ago. Since then have gotten a new one but I am sure we will need to get a new one by the time she gets her international passport.

  10. The best bet is to go to the cities He lived in and get the PC. I would ask them what the cost is to expedite it and maybe ask what it would take to expedite the expedite PC if you know what I mean. Also we were lucky and able to get the PC within a day or so. But that is only because our grandma has some connections. Pax how was your fiance able to get one PC for all the cities in Ukraine. That is news to me. What is the process to do this?

  11. I usually just act stupid or ignore them. They seem to get confused and just let me go on my way. I can remember a handful of times when they are speaking to someone and they have them go to the cash machine. I think it also helps to have many stamps of entry into Ukraine and a stamp showing I am married to a Ukrainian woman.

  12. Well I am back. And it sucks. I love being with my wife and daughter in Ukraine. My apartment experience was great. The apartment was a little expensive but it fit our needs and the internet was great. I needed it for work. The weather was hot and I was not able to escape the heat of Phoenix. Although some storms came thru and it cooled down a little. The ice cream is so good in Ukraine. Every night we hit the kiosks on Khreschatyk. It amazes me of the difference of walking down the streets in Ukraine versus USA. Thank god for sunglasses. The sun was so bright always. ;) You know what I mean. I will say this....always have a taxi service that you are referred to. It seems they treat all people as tourist and will charge you as much as they can. If you find a good driver, keep his number. I never get the questions at the Kiev airport by the militia like I do at Odessa. They could care less what I bring into the country and take out. No questions.

  13. I decided to go with the sure bet and secure an apartment before I go. I didn't want to have any stresses. I booked thru kievapartmentrent.net. I maybe have used them once before. Good rates and great location. I will give you my feedback when I get back to USA. To bad it is suppose to be 94 this weekend and rain on Tuesday and Wednesday but anything is better than 112 in Phoenix.

  14. Thanks for the info. I am waiting for the quick response of the apartment managers now. My wife has suggested that we just find someone at the airport to rent an apartment from. Not sure about this. Many of the locals do this when they travel thru Ukraine. My biggest thing is I need fast internet for work and phone. Any thoughts about rolling the dice and waiting?
