Queria tirar uma duvida com vcs....Entrei no sitre do consulado e esta escrito que eh obrigatorio votar nas eleicoes presidenciais. Em outubro vai haver eleicao no Brasil. Vcs transferiram o titulo de eleitor? Eu li que eu tenho ate 5 de maio para transferir o titulo e no dia da eleicao eu tenho de ir ate o consulado votar.

Esta escrito tambem se o eleitor estiver pendente, o mesmo nao conseguira renovar o passaporte...Vcs transferiram? Vcs jah votaram aqui nos States???

Espero que alguma de vcs ja tenham passado por isso. Vou renovar o meu passaporte brasileiro mas vou continuar com o meu nome de solteira pois o Consulado exige docs que eu nao tenho aqui no States para registrar o casamento e trocar o sobrenome no passaporte.

Se eu for viajar, na volta alguma de vcs enfrentou algum problema por ter o passaporte com nome de solteira e GC com nome de casada???

I will renew my Brazilian passport. I would like to renew with my married last name but I won't (too much burocracy) so I will renew it with my maiden last name.

If I travel to another country, when I come back will I have my passport with my maiden last name and my Green Card with my married name. Will a have problems in Customs???

Just double checking. I have a conditional GC (will expire in 2011) and my husband and I are planning to take a cruise. It will be 5 days on and off the US (Georgetown, Mexico or Bahamas). Is ok to use the GC or do I have to cary any further docs or even my marriage certificate (my green card and passport don't have the same last name).

I have a doubt and hopefully someone will be able to help me out....I came here through a K-1 Visa, married, changed my last name (Social Security, bank, bills...) but my Brazilian passport still has my maiden last name. It will expire on May/2010. Everything here in the US has my married name and everything in Brazil has my maiden name.

Can I "update" my Brazilian passport using my maiden name? I know I can change my last name but if I do that I would have to change all my documents in Brazil and I am afraid that it may cause huge headaches when I had to close my bank accounts and retirement plan.

Have my social security card with my married name but it's written "valid for work only with dhs authorization". I went to the Social Security Office and the lady told me that I can't get a "normal" SSC (=without the restriction) because I am not an American citizen. I showed my GC as well.

I read in the FAQ que after the AOS it's recommended to replace the cards. Do I need to replace it? What she said it's correct?

Eu sou paulistana e minha consulta foi com o dr. Edwin...Eu gostei bastante. Eu tinha convenio medico mas eu paguei em dinheiro a minha consulta. O convenio pagou os exames de laboratorio e as vacinas foram de graca pois eu fui no posto de saude.

Yes, I could. The problem is that according to DMV they only accept translations from the University of Louisville or Indiana University Southeast.

I was trying to get a translation from other institutions as I wrote before but the lady told me that it would be a waste of time and money. They would not accept.

I just wonder if someone here got a translation from Louisville or Indiana. Can you please share the name and number from the teacher?

I would like to know if someone is from Indiana and how did you solve this puzzle...Am Brazilian, have a driver license from Brazil and want to have a driver license from Indiana. Already have the SS and EAD.

The lady told me that I need to translate my driver license from Brazil. The problem is that someone from UofL or IU should do it. Called both universities but nobody there does that. Said that to DMV and they simply told me. "Please contact again the universities. Without the formal translation we can't not issue it. You will have to get a Learner's Permit...".

Did someone had the same issue? How did you handle it?

PS: Called Catholic Charities, Int'l Center, Int'l Affairs - no response.

I would like to know if there is anyone that is trying to get a driver license from the state of Indiana...I am an AOS pending case (don't have a GC or EAD) just my expired

I-94, my passport with K-1 Visa and the NOA from DHS.

Called the BMV and I can't get a driver license because they don't have a policy for K-1 holders!!!! Did someone faced the same problem??? PLEASE ADVICE!!!!

I just want to do everything right...

1) Sent AOS package in March

2) Biometrics done in March

3) Case transferred to California

3) Should I wait the EAD to be delivered by mail in May?

4) According to the threads cases fwd to California usually don't need the interview and the GC should be mailed. Nobody knows how long...may vary from months up to 1 year, right?

5) I don't need to do anything else? Am afraid that I may be missing something...

Am I missing something or should I just wait?

BTW - I don't know how people know that the case was touched...I tried to see my case but couldn't...Someone can help me please?

Please help me...have 2 doubts:

1) Just got through mail 2 envelopes. The 1st is the NOA of I-765 and the 2nd envelope is the NOA of I-485. In the I-765 the Amount Received is written as $0.00 and in the I-485 is written as $1,010. Is that ok? Should I worry?

2) I would like to see my update online through the USCIS website...but when I registered and tried to put the Receipt Number (MSC....) it says that is a invalid number. Can I check it online? My I-485 receipt number is different than my I-765...Should be 2 different receipt numbers?
