  1. Just six days shy of one year from the date of our Notice of Action, the green cards arrived today for spouse and son. It was a horrible tortured journey that ultimately required intervention by the Constituent Liaison of our Congressman. Evidently spouse's biometrics (taken in June 2011) were "lost" in the Vermont office, so nothing had been done for almost one year to progress the case. Only after numerous emails and calls between the Liaison and Vermont was the issue discovered and then, over the next few days, we waited to find out if they could be found. Ultimately the missing biometrics were located and the approval was granted May 8, just ten days shy of one year. The cards were received May 12. So all ended well, but it was certainly not a fun or easy process. Without our Congressional Liaison we would have have no idea of where to turn or what to do since all our prior calls ourselves and from our lawyer netted us nothing.

  2. My lady and her son plan to return to Ukraine this summer to visit her family. The travel agent has asked how her ticket should read -- specifically, what last name her ticket should show. Here are the facts:

She came to America on a K-1. We were timely married. Her last name is now the same as mine.

Her Ukrainian passport is, of course, in her former name.

We timely filed for AOS, AP and EAD.

Her AP has been approved and she has her I-512L, Authorization for Parole of an Alien Into the United States.

Her I-485 is still pending and the green card has not yet been issued.

Can one of you great VJers who is married to a Ukrainian tell us how her airline tickets should be issued and how you have handled this situation in the past?

Also, have your Ukrainian ladies done anything while back in Ukraine to change their passports to their married name?

Your help is, as always, greatly appreciated... :star:

  3. Hello all!

I'm planning ahead here, but hopefully will need this information in the next month! And I cannot find an answer in the archives.

When entering the US, I understand that my lady and her child will each be asked to fill out a Customs and Border Protection Form 6059B as well as a CBP Form I-94. In the instructions for the Form 6059B as to Line 15, the language for non-US residents says:

"If you are a visitor (non-U.S. Resident), print the total value of all goods (including commercial merchandise) you or any family members traveling with you are bringing into the United States and will remain in the United States.

Note: Visitors (non-U.S. Residents) are normally entitled to an exemption of $100.

Declare all articles on this form. For gifts, please indicate the retail value. Use the reverse side of this form if additional space is needed to list the items you will declare."

    http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/vacation...ration_form.xml

She will have nothing other than clothing, personal effects and a musical instrument. Must she declare the value of these or does the term "goods" refer only to non-personal items? If she must declare the value of her personal effects, how much does she state and what fees are associated with this?

Thank you VJers for your guidance! :)

  4. so if the members from before dont update their timelines, we are forced to use a distorted igors list?

is there nobody responsible for cleaning it up?

Yes, there is someone responsible -- all of us as members of VJ and who benefit so greatly from it. Igor's list merely culls its data from everyone's timelines. Thus it can only be as good as the data it receives. And that data only comes from us, the members here at VJ. So, please, everyone, keep updating those timelines and let everyone know when the big NOA-2 arrives!! And keep the updates coming even after that. All of us will benefit.

  5. The time between NVC and interview schedule for us was about one VERY long month. Our interview was about two months after NVC. Steelman was much luckier than I :)

    Best of luck

CONGRATULATIONS!! :D I can only begin to imagine how excited you are right now!! How soon will your lady be stateside?

We were much luckier at NVC. Our KEV number was assigned six days after the NOA-2 and our stuff left NVC! Through the wonders of DHL tracking, I have figured out our package made it to Kyiv yesterday, so I'll impatiently give it a few more days and then start wasting my money on PINs until they give us an interview time!! :clock:

  6. Our NOA2 was approved at VSC on Sep. 15. On Oct. 2 I was able to schedule interview of Nov. 5. I guess we were lucky. There are some approvals right after us that still are not entered in system to get an interview date. I can't believe how much people get jerked around.

Steelman, thanks for the great information. It looks as if we are just about one month behind you in this long process! Quick question: Did you call the embassy directly to see if you were good to go, or did you make your first call to the call center and just hope that you were in the system? If you called direct to the embassy, do you recall what phone number you used?

Thanks again for the help...

  7. Hello, my name is Ray, and I have some info for you. It should be sent to the NVC in about a week and a half, and if all is right, they will send out almost immediatly. In the case of my Marina, it took just over a month for her to get the packet from the Embassy. As for the interview date, they are booked out to about 30 days.

    Hope I helped. Ray

Ray, thanks much for the information! This is precisely what I was trying to learn!! Your timeline isn't posted, but I wish you every success at whatever stage you are in the process!! Thanks again!!

  8. Hello all!

I have been searching around the forum and not finding much current information on my questions. I posted earlier in the June VSC topic, but no takers yet! Can anyone help?

    1. How long does it typically take for the I129F approval to be sent from VSC to NVC? We were approved October 15.

    2. How long does it typically take for NVC to do its homework, assign a case number and ship out the package to Kiev?

    3. How long does it typically take Kiev to get the paperwork into its system?

    4. How long does it typically take until Kiev sets an interview date (assuming you call promptly for a date)?

I am looking for recent information and appreciate anyone's thoughts who may have been through this process recently with the embassy in Kiev, Ukraine.

Thanks much and have a good weekend all...

  10.

Okay, here is my first post! VJ has been a great source of info to me and I have had nothing worthwhile to add. Now I have a question (which I may be posting in the wrong topic).

Our NOA-1 from Vermont was June 12, 2008. VJ says the following:

"Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between October 24, 2008 and November 9, 2008."

The Historical Processing Times link says June 21 NOA-1s are being processed currently. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...ge=k1historical

Can anyone explain how this can be and why Igor's list has no NOA-2s after very early June?

I am probably being unnecessarily impatient (aren't we all??), but I wanted to make sure I am not missing something...

Thanks much for any ideas on this...
