You can call DOS Visa services and check on interview status.

For information related to inquiries about visa cases and the application process, call 202-663-1225

Thank you YuandDan. I've called the number and the lady told me that the case is still pending. I don't get it then why would they tell me the interview has been scheduled for so and so date and then turn around and tell it's still pending. Could it be that she doesn't know what she's talking about. Should I just go ahead and call the embassy and see what they say. Can someone advise me on what I should do?

Hey guys here is the list of interviews that were cancelled in May and rescheduled in June. The interviews range from June 5, 2009 to June 12, 2009.

  3. This might be kinda of a dumb question, but hey someone must ask it.

Do have to wait until the exact date of the interview to go to ciudad juarez. From what I understood is no. The type of visa we're going with is the I-130 (CR-1).

I know that for a k-1 visa you don't have to wait but for a k-3 visa (Spouse/Husband) I had the impretion that you did have to wait. That's why the give you a specific date. For a k-1 visa we are told we have an open date meaning we can go when we are ready in a lapse of 4 months.

Another question I have is how far in advance do you have to do your medical for the interview?

I was told that it would have to be done 5 days in advance for a CR-1 visa. I was under the impression that it could be done the day before the interview. Also about how much would it be for the vaccines are required? I know its like $148.50 for the medical and $175.00 for the visa. Any info is appreciated thanks.

  4. The Swine flu thing is really scarying me !!! This morning my fiance read that there are 6 cases already found in Juarez about the swine flu. :reading: He has also been hearing rumors that the consulate will be closing during the whole week :crying: . I'd advice anyone who is getting ready to attend the K-1 interview to call before making the arrangements or just keep posted on news, It would be horrible to come from a far away place just for nothing. Of course all of this is just rumors, things we've heard but have not been confirmed. Hopefully things will clear up soon and we won't have to worry about anything.

Well I hope your right epifreak and this whole issue with the swine flu clears up soon because I wouldn't want to make arrangements for nothing. My question is for people who have already gotten their visa. From what I read which has been really helpful is. Is it safe to say that you will have to wait one day after the interview to obtain the visa unless your lucky and get it that same day? Also, if the interview is on a Friday is it very likely you will have to wait until Monday?

I would make an effort to get there Monday if possible, get the physical, the interview and stay away from FRIDAY and avoid having to stay over the weekend! We had to wait an extra day.

  6. Hi,

My I-130 was completed on 4-1-2009 the recording states to allow 8 weeks does anyone know how long it really takes and what to expect next. I'm new with the whole process.

It will not take 8 weeks.

After case completion NVC assign interview date for CR1/ IR1 immigrant visa and inform both petitioner and beneficiary by e-mail, then send package to US Embassy/ Consulate. Once your package sent, means you are finish with NVC and further instructions comes from US Embassy/ Consulate.

Oh ok thanks for the info

  7. I recommend spending a little bit of time reading the guides section of VJ. Just click on the word Guides on the top of the screen and look at the NVC flowchart. Then read the LingChe shortcuts to learn about the NVC process.

    Good Luck!!

Thanks for the info, but I was referring to people who had personally gone through the process already. How long they had to wait. Sorry about that I should have stated it to begin with.
