  1. congrats!!!! very happy for you guys!

did they let him pick up his Visa right away? or does he have to wait till they mail it to him?

They said he could pick up his visa the next day, but he has to be back to work in Toronto tomorrow morning so they're going to mail it. I wish he could've stayed one more day and picked it up, but oh well. Hopefully, he will get it before Jan 24!!

  2. :)

    That's excellent!

Did they read the date backwards on the certificate, was that the confusion?

    Where are you moving to?

Yes, Trailmix, that's exactly what it was! We were married 07/05/2008, but they had it written as 05/07/2008 (my divorce was finalized in June 2008). Once my hubby got that cleared up, everything was fine :)

I live in Kansas City, Missouri, and that's where my husband will be moving to. Quick a change from Toronto, I'm sure!

  3. Yeah!! Best of luck!

Thank you 2 so much!! I'm going crazy waiting for my husband to call me with the good news :) Everytime I leave the room I think I hear my phone ring, so I run back in my office only to realize that I really am going crazy impatiently waiting! I'm attempting to work today, but not getting very far. I'll post when I hear from him! Thanks again for your positive thoughts!

Awe.. i so remember those crazy days around the interview.. hang in there!! And enjoy the moment when you get the call & good news!!

We're done!!! He got approved at the interview!! Yippee! Thank you so much everyone for all your help - this forum has been great! Now just have to wait 12 more days and he'll be with me forever :)

I'm not sure when he'll be able to write the review cuz I have his computer, but he said it went pretty smoothly. They read our marriage certificate wrong and at first thought I was still married to my ex when we got married, but my hubby got that cleared up pretty quickly and no more issues. He said the actual interview part was short and sweet!

  4. Yeah!! Best of luck!

  5. Having a really hard time finding hotels close to the consulate that arent expensive, less than 100 a night is the goal, any sugestions?

Hotel Centre-Ville is right across the street from the consulate and it's less than 100 a night for January. My hubby has his interview Jan 13 and that's where he's going to stay. Their website is http://www.hotelcentreville.com. On their homepage, they have their "Promotions" where you can save money by booking early - for us it was only $73.95 CAD for 1 night.

  6. Congrats! Hope mine comes soon too ;)

It should be any day for you--- have you tried calling NVC ? Probably a silly question huh? :)

I noticed that your case finished before ours--- if you haven't called NVC- call them! I bet they will have some info for you !

We called last Friday and they said to call back by Dec 15th. I may try later this week.

I would definitely call TODAY if I were you! :) They told us to call back the second week of December for our interview date too, but I called yesterday and they had it scheduled!! Our case was completed after yours too, so you should have yours.

  7. Please update our timeline.

DS230 received at NVC 9/26/08 (RFE on police cert)

    Case Complete 11/5/08 - YIPPEE!!

Now just waiting for the interview...

Because you say that, I have a question. Are you in Quebec? My husband went to the RCMP and got a letter that said his name and date of birth show no record... in French of course. It came from the RCMP, but doesn't say that... Can I ask what the top says on your PCC? I just want to make sure we have the right one that I sent. I had only sent copies first time around and then sent in the originals of the PCC, birth certificate and marriage certificate. (Thanks Trailmix for your tip.) I am wondering if I should scan the copy I have and then block out the private information but see if this is the right certificate. If I did that, would someone be willing to tell me if it is the right one?

My hubby is in Toronto and that's where he got the PCC. It actually says "Royal Canadian Mounted Police" at the top and has the seal. It also has his picture on it and it is bilingual. I mailed them a copy that he scanned and sent to me and we emailed the NVC a copy too. They accepted the copy, but we'll bring in the original to the interview just in case.
