  1. anybody have idea or who undergone changing of last name, I would like to know how long is the process of changing of last name.

I have 6 months before my 2 yrs green card expire, I wonder now if I still have chance to change my name before the renewal of green card.

My story is...a day after I sent my AOS I sent a letter that I want to use my married name since I used my maiden name,I recieve a response from them and the letter was under my married name but when I recieved my GC it was on my maiden name. Then I sent them a letter regarding the maiden name on my GC, I got a response that I can send the greencard and they will change the name, means I don't have to pay the fee. Because of my Dad's critical situation in the Philippines..I hold on to my GC so I can go and visit my Dad anytime, until it took months i din't change my name.

my Dad passed away lastweek.I decided now to change my last name.I wonder how long is the process,if I still have chance to change it before the renewal of GC.because it might be difficult and expensive if I already have my 10 yrs GC.

    thank u

  2. Hey guys,

My wife got her green card a few days ago (yay!!!) but we noticed that they had put her first name, then a middle initial "N" then her last name.

However, the problem is that my wife does NOT have a middle name. The reason there is an "N" there is because in the paperwork where it says to list her middle name we put "none".

anyways, we talked to USCIS about this earlier at our biometrics appointment because on my wife's notices sent from USCIS they also had the "N" for her middle name. They said they'd change it and update it in the system. Well, apparently they haven't and now my wife has a green card with a middle initial for a middle name she doesn't have.

Any ideas on what to do?

    Thanks very much guys!

Since it's USCISs fault you can submit a I-90 for free to correct their mistake. Only problem is you have to submit the original GC. Takes awhile to get the corrected one.

anybody have idea how long the process to Change name on GC ? I have the same problem.but not sending back the GC with incorrect name becuase it might take 10 months or so.

  3. Hey fellow sept. filers,

I got some good news this evening in my email:

Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

    Current Status: Card production ordered.

I'm extremely relieved that they didn't send any RFEs, and also relieved that everyone in our group is seeing some action on their cases. Good luck to those who have interviews still, and congratulations to all those who have received their cards and who have passed their interviews.

    yay!

congrats! we have the same good news tonight. card production ordered too!!

  4. Hi Folks,

Just thought I'd get this month's thread going. (Hope one hasn't been started already) My AOS package was in the mail yesterday. (Just couldn't get it together in time for August) Best of luck to everyone else and hopefully no RFE's!

    Rupa

Sent mine a few minutes ago. I too was not able to get everything together on time and I have been trying to assemble it since June! Did a 3 day Fedex and should be there by tuesday.

    hi,

I sent my AOS September 2, 2008 and now Feb. 12, 2009 the last update on my case shows...production ordered for your new card and will be mail in 30 days.

good luck to all september 2008 AOS filers!

  5. During the interview you can request that they use your married name on the card. They may or may not do it that way, so if they print it with your maiden name, you'll have to do the name change form after you get it. Doesn't matter if its a 2 year or 10 year card, you can still change it.

yes we will do that during interview. We sent letter to USCIS a day after we recieved the receipt notice of I-485 and still waiting for the response or instructions of what to do.But we just viewed the case online yesterday and the papers been transfered to CSC. If my maiden name will come out on my card we will just file I-90 after we recieve the card. or if they did something to change the maiden name it will be better..thanks

  6. hi

We filled AOS 11 days ago and we made a mistake in filling my maiden name instead of my married name.

I searched that there is a I-90 form to change GC, but i don't know if I can fille I-90 while on conditional or I have to wait after 2 years when conditional is removed. My husband still confident that my married name will comes out on the GC.

I received yesterday the rejected form I-765 because of outdated for, So I am confuse now of what last name to fill up.

I wanted to use my married name but we made a mistake.

I need an advice also if I could use my married name the time I get my drivers lisence, state id and SS.

right now I am waiting for the biometric and interview maybe I can do something during the interview to change my last name.

and asking advice if there is a way in the middle of process.

    thank you
