  1. hello guys,

My wife and I are planning to travel to the philippines this upcoming November. The problem is that my wife's 2 year conditional residency will expire 28Oct2010. I'm just thinking the worst case scenario here....if for some reason that come November and we're still waiting for her new green card to arrive, can she still travel with her expired 2year card? or maybe there's an option bringing other documents to prove that she is awaiting to be lifted...anyone here in VJ ever experience this situation..please, i would appreciate your help/advice!

  2. if anything to worry about co's might wonder how your going to support you and your spouse when you get to usa

you might want to have a job lined up before you get here. there biggest problem is they dont want you to collect welfare when you get here. you should of came back to usa before interview and got a job so you didnt have to worry, that is the only problem i see that will cause you problems.

    good luck

im going back on oct 16th. i already have a ticket. i will let my husband bring my printed plane ticket and show to co's. thank you

Are you going to the Embassy as well? It's probably better that you go with him there.

  3. My wife and I will be traveling together to the U.S. I'm a US citizen and my wife will be her first time with a CR-1 visa. My question is, can i line up with her on the first timer line at the immigration instead of splitting by going to the U.S. citizen line.

Anyone here on VJ ever tried it?

Alls I can say is I've used all the different lines [shortest] and they all seem to be able to handle anyone whether immigrant or citizen.

thanks!! I plan on lining up with her just in case they have a lot of questions...

  4. "Once approved in US, the packet goes to New Hampshire for an FBI check. This usually takes 4 weeks. The packet is then sent overseas to embassy via consular pack which can take up to 7 weeks where they will contact fiancee/spouse with packet 3. I have listed what is most commonly contained in this packet below."

I bet I know who your lawyer is as I got the exact same e-mail a while back, word for word.

these lawyers are just a waste of time and money. If they think you have no idea how the immigration process go, they will prolong it as long as possible to get paid a little extra. That's their motto in life. Good thing i got warned by my cousin who hired a lawyer and did almost nothing except filed for her petition.

  5. I just received my son's visa interview date scheduled on Oct 3, at 6:30 am. There is no mention of the medical exam except that I get all the pertinent info on the website.

I went to the PHIL US embassy website and checked on my son's case # and it shows that his St. Luke's appoinntment is OCT 3, 12:00 AM, and his interview at the US embassy is OCT 3, 6:30 AM.

I am flying into Manila from L.A. so I can help him with the interview and all the requirements, but am confused about the time of the medical? Is St Luke's open 24 hours?

    Thanks!

no need to wait oct. 3 for ur son medical coz that time is his interview.. u may take medical on monday so that he finish it before october 3.. St. Luke open monday thru friday 8 am to 5 pm only..just bring his appointment letter (xerox for the st. luke and also the original for the guard inspection but u need to keep it after that), passport and payment for his medical.. gud luck..

the same thing happened to me when i checked for my wife's interview in the website. It showed the same day appointment for the medical and interview. but my wife went ahead and got her medical done two weeks ahead of the appt date. It's just an error on the US embassy website. So go ahead and get the medical accomplish asap. good luck!

  6. hey guys,

My wife just passed her visa interview in manila (17Sep) and they only gave her a pink slip..thank god!!!!. How long does she have to wait for her visa to be delivered? What's the average wait time?

may i ask when she paid the DV? how many weeks before the interview? thanks..

    hey MJ3lasvegas,

My wife never paid her data verification fee. She got all of her documents (birth certificate and our marriage license) straight from the NSO office. Most people here on VJ will advice you to pay for DV because it is the safest route and not risk any delays. I had the same question prior to my wife's interview but i told her that if she needed to pay it, she'll just have pay it in the embassy. But they never asked her to and she got a pink slip only. To answer your other question, u should pay the DV at least 4 weeks in advance.

This is info straight from the website if you haven't read it yet! Note: read the highlighted)

Applicants whose visa eligibility is dependent upon their marital status (i.e. K-1, K-3, CR-1, IR-1, F-1 and F2-B categories) will normally need to have their documents verified through the National Statistics Office (NSO) before the U.S. Embassy in Manila can issue the visa. Those with a delayed birth or death certificate or only local civil registrar copies of such documents may need to have their documents verified.

In order to avoid unnecessary delay in the visa issuance process, the U.S. Embassy in Manila strongly encourages applicants in the categories mentioned above to pay the document verification fee prior to their immigrant visa interview. Payment can be made through any Metrobank location. The cost of the document verification is PhP 650 per applicant. For specific instructions on how to pay the document verification fee, please click here. If you are unable to pay for the document verification before your immigrant visa interview, you may be asked to pay the fee on the day of your interview. Please note that if you pay on the day of your interview, there will be a delay of one to two weeks in the processing of your application.
