  1. I don't like the thought of this.

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/06/26/us-usa-immigration-idUSBRE95P0ZX20130626

When people go through whichever visa process they go through, like we have, it takes time, money and heartache.

Why didn't we just sneak me across the border and hide and get given immunity from deportation instead of being good, legal citizens and undergoing the process the proper way.

    It makes me so mad.

Whoever you are, wherever you're from, you don't just sneak into a country and expect immunity. Why are Congress even considering this?

Aliens across the country should petition USCIS for a refund.

  2. My husband and I are waiting for his AOS interview (on November 3rd) We've just moved and we're filling out the change of address form. We just had a few questions on the mail-in form...

When it asks "I am in the United States as..." What should we put? I checked "Other" and wrote AOS. Does that seem alright?

And then, when it asks "If not a permanent resident my stay in the US expires on..." His Visa expired on September 3rd, however, we were married on July 31st and applied for his Greencard in early August. Should we put the date that it actually expired or just leave it blank?

    Thank you so much!

  3. My fiance is in London right now, about to have his interview. Of course, we're both horribly nervous, but obviously, he is, more so than me! I'll post as soon as we have a decision!

And thanks to everyone on here who has helped us out and asked the thousands of questions we've had. You have all been an invaluable resource in this long, complicated, confusing process!

  4. I know someone has probably already posted this somewhere, but I'm having a hard time finding it...

My fiance and I sent in his IV-15K in the middle of December. We have still yet to receive a letter regarding his interview date. What are people's average wait times from the point where the letter is sent to the time that the appointment letter is received? I'm just concerned that we might be missing out on some deadline or some other thing.

    Thanks in advance :)

  6. Does anyone have an example of the letter that they got from their employer for the I-134? I'm not sure exactly what it needs to say. I know the information it needs, but how detailed does it have to be? Could it just say "So and So has worked here since mm/dd/yyyy, they make $ an hour, and we expect to keep them employed indefinitely?

    Thanks in Advance

  7. Just a little bit of background...

About 5 years ago, my fiance was into self harming (he was a cutter). After a visit to his GP and some other help, he stopped, and hasn't done it in about 4 years. However, it is on his medical record from having seen his GP. So, on the medical questionnaire, when it asks "Have you ever caused harm to yourself or others?" he marked yes, so as to be as honest as possible, and wrote a brief explanation regarding the situation.

So when he had his medical exam today, they questioned him on it. Now they want him to take a form to his GP to have them sign it to state that he is not going to need any psychiatric help in the future. Until he gets that form back to them, they won't send his medical results to the Embassy.

He called his GP immediately and they stated that they could not get him in until November 27th. I advised him to call the Knightsbridge doctors and let them know it was going to be a couple weeks.

I didn't think it was really going to be a problem as he no longer does it, and hasn't in some time. Anyone else hear about something like that causing issues? Otherwise, his exam was fine and all of his vaccinations were in order.

Are there any additional steps we should take except for notifying Knightsbridge that it will be a couple of weeks?

    Thanks everyone.

  8. Just wanted to let everyone know that Matt has his medical exam in London on Thursday the 12th. He's pretty nervous, even though he has no reason to be. But, I get it's all a little overwhelming. Just asking for your well wishes all! We're nearly to the interview stage!

  9. i live in the US (kentucky) and my fiance lives in Canada (Toronto) and due to extreme situations she is going through at home I am going to have to get her an apartment. She currently doesn't have a job so I'm going to send her money. what is the best way to do this?

My fiance and I use PayPal. You can automatically convert the funds from one currency to another. It's free to sign up for an account, and it's very secure. My fiance is the one paying for all of the steps for the immigration, but I'm the one writing the checks, so he just transfers the money to me, and I transfer it into my account. It takes about 3 days, and converts from GBP to USD in PayPal. Worth having a look!

  10. My fiance and I are getting ready to book him a ticket to come here in December. We're kind of nervous about the whole situation as well. His POE will be Seattle. We're hoping that the documents from his work will be enough and that there won't be too many questions. We're having Human Resources at his job, as well as his direct supervisor both write letters stating that he will be coming back to work.

We have already received Packet 3, so are a little further than you. We're hoping that they don't honestly think we would have gone through all of this incredibly hard work, just to blow it all at the last moment!

    Good luck!

  11. I was under the impression that the Affidavit of Support didn't need to be submitted until after we were married and were filing for adjustment of status. We are filing at the London Embassy. Am I wrong in this, or do we need to have the I-134 and all of the supporting evidence for it ready for the interview state before we get his Visa?

    Thank you.

No, this has to be submitted when your fiance has his interview. During his AOS he will be submitting another set of documents and I think that is the 1-864 if I am correct. I am a K-1 petitioner as well and currently preparing my affidavit of support so my fiance can have it at his interview. So, you need to have the 1-134 and supporting documents ready during the interview. I would check out the embassy website for what is required for the support. Usually, an employment letter is required and paystubs.

Thank you for clearing that up!

  12. I assume you just got the NOA2? You'll hear from the National Visa Center next. In a matter of weeks, he will receive a package from the consulate with instructions & forms, and a deadline. About the only thing you need to do is to complete the sponsorship form and get it, with supporting documentation, over to him.

Actually, we got the NOA2 about a month ago. He's already received the letter from the Embassy with instructions. However, there is no deadline date on it.

Actually, I've looked again, and have found that we have until 01/10/2010. But then I also found information stating that if more than 4 months has passed since the Petition approval, all we need is a notarized intent to marry within 90 days of his arrival in the states.

Is that the case? Is that all we'd need?

  14. I have been looking all over every website I can find, but I can't find out if there is a deadline between when we received the NOA2, and when my fiance has to have all the forms filled out and sent to the Embassy.

We are filing with the Consulate in London (I am American, he is British.)

I just wanted to make sure that if it was going to take some time to gather the documents and get the forms filled out, that we weren't going to go over some sort of deadline that we are unaware of.

He has his medical exam scheduled for November 12th as well. Does he need to have all of the forms done and sent to the Embassy before then as well? Or can he have his exam, and then finish gathering what he needs?

Thank you all so much for your help!

  15. My fiance and I are tempted to fly him out here for a week and we were just looking for a little bit more information regarding traveling during the process.

He has a full time job in England right now, and has a week off. He lives with his parents, so doesn't have a rental agreement or anything like that.

How exactly do they know at customs that you are going through the immigration process?

I am going to see him in October, but he has this random week off, and we thought about making the best of it.

Any advice or travel tips if we decide to go through with it?

We are two months into the process, have received our NOA1, but no other info as of yet.

    Thanks everyone, in advance.
