  1. We had religious puja on 6/21/07(of which there is no official record, which is common in Nepal) and court marriage papers were signed on 6/29/07 - no problems. Socially we count our anniversary as 6/21 but USCIS only really cares about the legal marriage papers, whether they were signed in a church/mandir/mosque or courthouse.

    Thanks Pattu Rani,

The problem is i have two legal pappers one from church i.e have May date and other in June date from panchayath....so that's really worries me

  2. Hi VJ family members,

  3. If there is a Citi bank branch local to the area, you can access the account info in the us and add and remove money in dollars. On my last trip i opened a HDFC NRI account that my fiancé can access it. The account is under my name but she has permission to to use it, i had to be there for HDFC account setup, but i was able to setup the Citi account from here by sending my info to the local citi bank rep in india. My citi branch is in Surat Gujarat. Hope this helps

  6. Hello all VJers...

My questions below are related mainly to India but everyone is welcome to answer :)

I know I am too far away from this point but I was just wondering how much it cost to get medical exam done? Convinient to know how much cash to carry, I am assuming they probably don't accept credit cards yet.

Also, our consulate is Chennai, India. Would it be ok if my hubby gets his medical exam done in US Embassy approved hospital/doctor at Bombay instead?

    Chennai's Medical Examination details.....

    INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL EXAMINATION

The following doctors have been approved by the Consulate General to give medical examinations, immunizations and laboratory tests for immigrant visa applicants. The examination and immunizations they provide conform to the standards and terminology prescribed by the United States Public Health Service (USPHS).

All applicants must have tests performed at Lister Metropolis Laboratory. You need not schedule an appointment at Lister Metropolis Laboratory, but should allow several working days before your immigrant visa interview for any follow-up laboratory tests that must be completed. Applicants must appear at the laboratory between 8:00 am and 10:30 am in order to receive their laboratory results the same day.

Lister METROPOLIS Laboratory & Research Center Pvt. Ltd.

No. 3, Jagannathan Road, Nungambakkam, Chennai 600 034

The physician’s visit must occur after the laboratory tests and should take place at least three working days before your visa interview at the Consulate. Although several panel physicians see patients on a walk-in basis if workload permits, you are strongly encouraged to make an appointment at the clinic of one of the doctors listed below. Please do not schedule an appointment with more than one doctor. If you are unable to visit the doctor with whom you have fixed an appointment, you must cancel your appointment at least two hours prior to the appointment time. Bring the laboratory test results with you when you visit the panel physician. The completed medical reports which will subsequently be given to you by the physician must be brought to the Consulate General at the time of your visa interview. You may see any of the following physicians:

You should also bring three visa-type photos for each family member being examined, as well as complete vaccination records for each examinee.

You should expect to pay the following fees:

Each applicant 15 years-old or older will be charged Rs. 800 for a general physical check-up and administration of vaccinations. (This fee does NOT include the actual cost of the vaccines, for which the applicant will also be charged.) In addition, each applicant 15 years-old or older will be expected to pay Rs. 920 for initial laboratory tests. Laboratory fees may range up to Rs. 3350 if additional tests are required. Applicants less than 15 years-old will be charged Rs. 600 for a general physical check-up and administration of vaccinations. (This fee does NOT include the actual cost of the vaccines, for which the applicant will also be charged.) All fees must be paid in cash directly by you to the laboratory or the panel physician. If further tests are advised by the panel physician at the time of your medical examination, you will be expected to bear the related costs. Normally, children under 15 years of age are not required to undergo chest x-rays, blood tests, or HIV anti-body testing, but they must undergo immunizations and a general physical examination.

Medical reports are valid for a period of one year from the date of your medical examination. The examination must be repeated if the report has expired or will expire prior to your entry into the United States.

Reminder: Vaccinations are costly! Be sure to bring complete vaccination records for each immigrant visa applicant when visiting the panel physician, or you risk having to pay up to Rs. 9000 or more in additional fees.

  7. Our IV bill was FINALLY generated and we paid it online today...

    NVC accepted our AOS....wooohooo!!!

    Hi Serendipity,

Did you recieved IV invoice bill in email as pdf attachment? and after that did you confirmed with operator?...Me got an email with IV invoice bill as pdf attachment on 25th and i confermed with two operators and i paid the same on 25th online and it sowed as paid on 26th...we took the printout of the cover sheet and send the package to NVC...After all this still i am getting the same email...and my IV bill status in website changed to Not paid i don't understand there system...when i called up to NVC they said IV bill was generated on 29th...i doubt did they generated my IV bill twice...will it be a problem to application ...pls advice anybody...

  8. Serendipity,

Be very carefully with the IV bill. You must confirm with them before you pay it. I'm still in limbo waiting for NVC to generated my already generated IV bill. This is ridiculous. I received the e-mail with the IV bill on saturday but they still don't have it shown on their system and the supervisor told me not to pay the bill until they have it in their system because it can cause me a really long delay.

JAVC - I mailed the DS3032 on 03/21/09 and was rec'd at NVC 03/23/09, last night the NVC operator informed me that they take 5 days to process DS3032.

I have NOT paid the IV bill as like you I am waiting for it to be generated in their system.

NVC seems to be going RED (stop) Instead of GREEN :ranting:

    Hi JAVC, Serendipity,

I too got an email stating that my DS-3032 is accepted but when i called up the NVC the operator told not to pay IV bill until is generated...WTH i can pay the IV bill online but they are asking me not to do it and how would i know whether IV bill got generated...

JAVC ...did you got any email attached with a .pdf file similar to AOS fee bill???

  9. Hey Guys,

My husband just started looking into how to get PCCs from Bangalore Passport Office and Bangalore District Police office. We were wondering what these two mean? Our assumption is that Passport Office will put some type of stamp on his passport while District Police office will provide him some sort of paper as proof of PCC. Is this correct? If not, what should we expect form each of these offices?

    Thanks for your help.

    hi Champi,

Your husband need to go to Commissioner Office in Bangalore to get PCC from District which is near to infantry road Bangalore...Where as to get PCC from Passport office you need to go to Regional passport office near Games Village Koramangala...It would be better to get PCC from Passport office first because it took me one month to get it where as from Commisioners office it took me only 2 weeks...

  10. What about CR1.. do we get 10gc or conditional GC if we have not passed 2 years after wedding???

I know the reps at USCIS don't know anything. but I just thought it was odd that she would say that to me. My attorney told me that the K-3 will get to the embassy faster. So I proceed with the K-3 and then what.... instead of a conditional GC he gets his Permanent GC??? I should have listened in class, huh?

CONGRATS ELIMA !!!! Look for the party thread this weekend !!!

If you have been married for over 2 Yrs you qualify for a 10 GC

  11. Thanks Jen.. :) ...

  12. Congratulations to all how got approval yesterday....I wish too to join you people..I got approval yesterday :dance::dance:

'esposadetucho' you can still go with K3. if your K3 and CR1 are both at consulate then CR1 voids the K3..so don't worry

    ok, Question..

I just talked to the USCIS. I was asking about time frames... The rep told me since my CR1 and my K-3 were approved at the same time the CR1 voids the K-3. I never heard that before. I was hoping to go the K-3 route but she said I have to go the CR1 route. I think she was talking sh!t because I never heard that. And tons of people are going the K-3 route with both approvals.... What do you think???
