How do you know what is in the packet you got from the Embassy. The packet will contain all the paperwork for your visa application but you haven't opened it have you?
No I didn't open it. The envelope is kind that allows u to see the edges of the papers. so that's how i recognized it.

I got my visa and am now ready to book my flight to Tampa connecting through Miami first.. Does anyone have any experience with MIA officers. I had my sponsor's original w2 IRS forms in the packet from the embassy and I need to have them back. Do u know if they would give them to me at MIA?.

Does anyone know if at the port of entry they give backk your original w2 and certificates? or can't i get them back. I recently went to my blue sheet interview with my sponsor's w2(she is hoping to have them back) and got through. Appreciate your help.

Yes. Your son may be eligible for US citizenship without waiting the five years. He has to meet the rules outlined in the N-600 Application for Certificate of Citizenship.
Your son can claim US citizenship if:
1) At least one parent is a US citizen (that's you); AND
2) The child regularly reside in the US in the legal and physical custody of a USC parent; AND
3) The child was lawfully admitted for permanent resident; AND
4) The child has not yet reached his/her 18th birthday; AND
5) The biological child was legitimate or legitimize while in the custody of the legitimizing parent before the child's 16th birthday; OR
6) The child was a biological child born out of wedlock & the child has not been legitimated & the child's mother naturalizes as a USC.
In your case, you will need to satisfy 1-5.
You will not have any problem with 1-3 as soon as your son arrives in the US as a permanent resident.
5 may not be a problem; the common definition is that a child is legitimate if the child was born to married parents. I am not sure what the legal definition is for US citizenship purposes. If you were married to your son's mother anytime between his birth and 16th birthday, then he is legitimate as I interpret the rule (don't rely on this - you should ask someone with more knowledge than me).
4 - Make sure you file before your son's 18th birthday - I would suggest preparing the N-600 early and then send it out the day he arrives in the US.
Thanks for your reply. My son was actually born out of wedlock.

Hello guys. I have a query which i hope u know the answer to. Alright, my son who is 16 has been filed for (and approved-currently at the consulate) by my USC wife. I am now naturalized. Since I am now a USC can he file for naturalization as child of a biological USC parent without waiting the five years waiting time? If anybody has been in this situation let me know the answer. Anyone else can let me know their thoughts. Thanks in advance. VJ forever.

My step Kids went in Colombia one was 16 and the other 11. I was unable to attend but their dad did. All questions were basically on the relationship between my husband and I . They only spoke to the dad they did not ask the kids any questions. Also at POE JFK no questions just a finger print for the 16 yr old
That's good.
Just one question guys. Since my son is 16 does he have to register with the selective service or anytime in the future?

My wife has petitioned for my son by way of IR-2. BTW-My petition is over. He should soon be receiving is appointment letter in Jamaica. Will they want/allow his mother to accompany him to the interview. Will they want proof that he is my wife's stepson, and if so what kind? What questions will they ask him. Thanks for your help guys.
Hey how are you?
How old is he? At my interview and from what I observed I heard them asking if the child has met the step-parent, what's his or her name, do you know where they live, do you like them, is your mom or dad happy, do you have step brothers or sisters, do you think you'll get along with them and lastly, do you think you'll like it in the U.S...some kids were not questioned at all. It depends of the age. The interviews I overheard all had parents with the child. The questions depends on how old the child is.
My son is 16. Thanks for the info.
