  1. Thanks for the support guys.

I guess I'll just have to live with this now. I had a picture taken at a pharmacy and it was very grainy. So I decided OK I'll go to the Post Office and they'll take a new one.

But I guess that the employee did not go to photography school ^_^

The pen was totally my fault though. So nobody to blame for this one.

I really like the new passport, the pictures are awesome.

HORRIBLE PASSPORT PICTURE though. I was kind of disappointed about it. And to make things worse, my pen ran out of ink in the middle of the signature so Bottom line I have an ugly looking passport.

If it was not so expensive I would get a new one. Anyway my immigration journey is really over now.

    Thanks all

  3. Hi

Not sure if this is the right forum for this question- I have just had my oath ceremony and applied for my passport. I have a UK passport too, and was wondering which I have to use when I travel?

I know I have to use the US one to exit/enter the US (I think)- but what about when I get to/leave my destination?

    Thanks!

Here's what I did. Used US passport to check-in at airport for flight to UK. On arrival in UK I used my UK passport to enter the UK. When I checked in to return to US I used my US passport and used the US one again to enter the US.

If you try to check-in for your flight to UK while in the US the check-in staff will look for a I-94 or a greencard, that is why you need to use your US passport.

If you enter the UK on your US passport you will be treated as a visitor in your home country and may be given hassle from UK immigration.

You need to use your US passport to check-in for your flight back to the US because if you use your UK passport you will need a VWP and the new ESTA certificate.

    He is absolutly right

    Adding myself to the list.

  5. I would not hide it and answer YES to question 16 with an explanation in a separate sheet of paper.

It might be nothing but it's somewhere on file on their computers.

Afterward, during the interview you will be under oath and the IO will ask you to certify that your answers in the document are nothing but the truth. If you say yes and they find out that it is not the case, you'll be in big trouble. Perjury (lying under oath) is a Felony and if convicted I don't think you will ever be able to apply for citizenship. I even believe that it is possible that you might loose your Green card Status if convicted.

  7. Congrats ! I have a question, even if the citizenship stuff won't be for me before 3 years. Can I apply to become an american citizen and keep my french citizenship ? I heard that I would have to choose and even if I would love to be American there is no way I give up my french citizenship. Thanks :)

No you can keep both - technically when you take the oath you kinda swear to forget any previous citizenship I think, but in reality the US never make you abandon your former citizenship - and since France accepts dual citizen with the US - we are good to go :)

Am I wrong? Any French in this situation?

This is correct. You abandon your previous nationality not citizenship.

BTW, I will delete the USCIS website from my bookmarks now as I no longer need to consult it. YEAH

  9. I am an American now. I had my ceremony thi s morning and all went well. It was a wonderful moment.

We were about 120 people attending from all over the world, some very old and others not so old.

While we were waiting, they played some songs from the Eagles, Bruce Springsteen etc...Everybody was relaxed and in a good mood. They opened the ceremony with a video, Faces of America, representing the diversity of the US population. Later, the director of the US immigration office came and gave a speech explaining the responsibilities coming with the citizenship and finally administered the Oath.

Now that we were all citizens, they showed a video of Pres. Obama welcoming us as "fellow Americans" which I found to be pretty emotional and yes Tom you are right concluded with video of US sights and sounds over "I am a proud American" from Lee Greenwood. (That last part was really cheesy)

Anyhow overall the USCIS did a great job with this ceremony.

Thank you again for the support, my immigration journey is over. Good luck to all of the ones still waiting.

Congrats Kathryn. How exiting. I got exactly the same questions as you. The main difference is that the officer commented on how small my file was. I am the opposite. I only send the minimum: For this citizenship I only sent my tax transcripts as evidence of a marriage (plus the certificate) So my complete file is about an inch thick. One of the reasons is that my documents are mostly in French and it's quite expensive to have it translate. So you only want to send the minimum.

Anyway, Tomorrow morning is my ceremony. I'll let you know how it went. Thank you for the help and support.

    Cheers.

  12. I also agree. You should wait. The tax information is the only one is verified. So I would be patient. Moreover your don't need to send all the other documentation you are referring to. It's not necessary, but if for whatever reason your N 400 is sent back for further investigation you'll wait even longer. I understand your frustration but this sounds like the best way forward.
