  1. My Fiancee will hopefully be flying out on PAL tonight and needs to get her CFO sticker from the NAIA CFO office, does anyone know where it is and what time it closes?

    Thanks SO MUCH!!!

shes done with the seminar in CFO?

Yes... She did the one in Cebu a couple of weeks ago.

  2. I just posted earlier that the status of my case number says that shipment is returned for re-attempt. I'm in a great relief now that i just received my visa =) around 5:00 pm. Thank you for all your response in my posted item earlier. Godbless us All =)

Congratulations and hope you have a safe trip!!! My Fiancee's visa is out being delivered now, I just HOPE she gets it quickly to make tonights flight. We already have reservations.

    Again Congrat's!

  3. Yes my fiancee had her interview on the 5th of Jan too and she paid Delbros right after her interview. We are OPTIMISTICALLY hoping to get the visa today!

  4. The IV case number is the MNL number that is in your NVC letter.

I could be wrong but...I dont believe the NVC number is the MNL number. The MNL number is assigned by the USEMB in Manila. However, the number on the NVC letter WILL work in obtaining your appointment.

    Good Luck and Congratulations!

  5. Thanks Everyone, this can be stressfull if you let it!!! My Fiancee called me up trying to joke that she was disapproved but after a fake cry and line to me... She could not hold in her excitement. Hahahaaha

Thanks again to EVERYONE and to answer and comment on some replies:

    1. She was asked alot of questions about me, yes...she was asked how we met but most of the questions revolved around me and my job and where I lived and my military rankas well as my divorce and when the divorce became official to include why I had gotten divorced. She said she never felt intimidated or bullied and that as soon as the question was asked, the CO moved to the next question. Sometimes he wouldnt even allow her to finish the answer before he acknowledged that he was satisfied.

    2. Yes we will check all the information on the VISA and its packet for accuracy, the BEST thing about this forum is that you get to learn from others mistakes which will only make the next person better prepared. Imagine...paying a Lawyer to do what we just did? Wow... I think I found my next job. :) As well, we have already had the CFO and plan to get the sticker in the NAIA prior to flight. Thank you!!!

    3. Yes she can get it that fast... she is staying in a hotel in Manila

    THANK YOU TO ALL!!!

  6. GREAT News for Us today.... My Fiancee had her interview today and passed! She said it went smooth and everyone from the pre-screener, to the consular were extremely nice and friendly. I guess Santa was good to them over the holidays.

Now we are just waiting for the VISA.... I hope by the end of the week we will have it.

  7. Age gap is a NON-ISSUE when it comes to relationships IMO!!! YES, there are generation gaps in certain areas BUT...It all comes down to, IS IT THE RIGHT PERSON or not. My ex-wife was my age and it should have never happened, but I dont regret it for I have three great kids.

FYI ~ General MacArthur's first marriage FAILED to a lady that was his age after 7 years. He later married a lady that was 18 years younger and it lasted almost 30 years till his death in 1964 at the age of 85. She never remarried and stayed loyal to him till her death in 2000 at the age of 101.

JUST ONE EXAMPLE that age gaps can work. Age shouldn't be the measuring stick, maybe measure it by compatibility and commonality!

I agree that age gap for the most part is inconsequential to the success of a marriage. However, when it comes to age, I do think it is relevant in that marriage requires an emotional maturity in order for it to succeed and is most likely the reason behind PI Law requiring parental consent.

    Agree...

Maturity is the KEY to almost everything we do, with maturity comes better decision making skills, but age doesn't necessarily constitute maturity. We would like to think so, and in most cases its true, but not always. I am 40 and still think Im 25, my Fiancee is 24 and probably thinks she is older than that... so it all equals out in the end.

  9. Hello... Has anyone had to ship a guitar to the states from PI? As most of you know, you dont get a lot of luggage that you can pack for your trip or would want to haul around. My Fiancee has an acoustic guitar that has sentimental value to it and wants to bring it with her, but she doesnt want to add it to the already abundant amount of luggage she already has.

Has anyone shipped one and how expensive was it? Any recommendations?

    Thank You!

$200- $250 sounds about right for air freight for one guitar only. You'd have to pack it in guitar shipping box. DHL is another company that can ship it. We had some insturments and amps shipped back once from Cebu and they came to the hotel to pick it up. We split the $500 shipping charge.

For that price though, you might as well pay the extra baggage charge and bring it back with you on the flight. I paid $150 one time from PAL.

My recommendation would be to get a 'gig' bag with a shoulder strap and just sling it over your shoulder as a carry on - no charge.

Yeah thats what I am trying to get her to do, bring it ONBOARD but... she is afraid PAL wont allow her to bring it onboard.

    Thanks EVERYONE for your input!!!

  10. Does anyone know what days the embassy will be open this week?

I am not sure EXACTLY which days they are closed but their hours of operation are 730am-430pm M-F Manila Time. They claim they observe BOTH Philippine and American holidays so... I would imagine they are closed for sure on the 1st of Jan but I am not really sure what other day they are off.

Here is their phone number: (632) 301-2000

    Good Luck!

  11. Guys, I have a question... What if your husband doesn't want you to work?

he just wants you to stay at the house and be a dedicated housewife?

what are you goin to feel?, do?....

I will start to consider him a control freak and an abusive husband!

Seriously, your husband has no right whatsoever to ask you not to work and to just stay at home and be a dedicated wife. It's more of an economic abuse which may constitute an act of violence against a woman. To work. explore all your possibilities and maximize your potentialities are your basic rights that your husband should respect and which you must protect.

You have some issues my friend!!!

The OP was asking a simple question that only required PROS/CONS and yet you turned it into a LAW!

As Tallcoolone said... #######??? Go chase someone elses ambulance because if you make your living prosecuting guys that say... Oh honey I dont want you to work, you have a sad job and life. NOWHERE in the OP thread did it say she was held at gunpoint or threatened if she got a job, she simply stated that her Husband did NOT want her to get a job. Im sure there are things you DONT want your spouse doing either, does that make you an ABUSIVE person? I would hope not, because if so...I am ABUSIVE, my Finacee is ABUSIVE, and we are all abusive in some form or fashion!

    To the OP....

I think only YOU really know whats best for your current situation. If a job is something you really want for money or a career for self-worth, talk it over with your husband and explain to him your thinking. I would hope he isnt a "Control Freak" but when you get married, we ALL have to give and take a little in a relationship, otherwise we would all fail. ONLY YOU KNOW THE ANSWER!

    Good Luck!

  12. I was just taking to a friend of mine and she said that I should still consider myself lucky that they didn't jack the entire box and at least half of the items made it to my parents' house. The box she sent last april never arrived. It frustrates me that there really is nothing I can do about it. I met up with a another friend of mine yesterday whose mom used to work at customs and he said these things have been happening a lot lately.

This is why our country is going to the dogs. There's no sense of accountability at all and whenever lying or cheating or stealing happens, we don't have a choice but to bite the bullet.

That's part of the problem... your friend along with many others consider themselves lucky and think there is nothing you can do! Well I really feel for you and anyone else that is a victim of this type of theft. I have personally experienced this type of theft and problems from the Philippines for over 20 years and it never gets easy to swallow. My latest was when I sent a Blackberry Curve to my Fiancee and it "Got Lost" in customs, at least thats what they said... Well I say BS and my Fiancee much like you and your friends was really upset but believed there is nothing we can do and that its...just like that sometimes. Well I don't believe that for a second, I know there are a lot of dishonest people in your country BUT... I also know there are a lot of honest people too. The problem is, the honest people just need to hold the dishonest ones accountable.

What I did was.... I started from this end and had the shipping company tell me EXACTLY where the POE into the Philippines was, in my case it was Manila and they gave me a phone number and address. So I called there and was told it was there but it had left to Tacalobon several weeks ago. I told the person I was talking to that, I was unhappy and that if needed too, I was going to launch an investigation from this end on the whereabouts of my package. She was very cooperative and gave me all the details...SHe said it had gone through Customs and had been sent to Leyte at which time she proceeded to give me their phone number and address.

So I then started to call the place in Taclobon and explained to them the SAME thing, that I was upset and that if I dont get resolve, I will have an investigation launched. Well the guy who started off understanding english, all of a sudden started having a hard time understanding me and and told me he doesnt know anything then just hung up.... Well I called my Fiancee and told her to explain to him that I KNOW whats happening and I am on to him or his office. She called then he said...Oh I will have to look for it! So I called back and told him that if he cant understand me, put someone on the phone that can...well he put on a lady that IMO was worse than him in english but ok, I told her that I believed that they KNOW where this phone is and that I think they are trying to steal it and that I will settle this one way or another. Well later that day, my Fiancee recalled them and they were like... Oh we found it, its in customs and it wont be ready for a week... ANOTHER BS LINE!!! Customs was completed in Manila and again IMO, someone had it and they had to get it back. Well my Fiancee told them no, you have till tomorrow or else... I told her I didnt trust them to deliver it from Taclobon to Maasin and that if she would, go there and see them FACE to FACE in Taclobon... Well she did and they were sketchy and evasive in her opinion. When she finally got the phone, it had been opened and they (Taclobon Office) already knew exactly what it was and its features. They were bragging it had GPS and everything else.

At the end of the day, I believe if we didnt follow it up and werent so persistent, we would have lost the phone. But because we tracked and pressured them, we got it with just a lot of delay and PITA. My friend who shipped a phone around the same time I did, just waited and to this day, doesnt have it.

I guess it all comes down to how hard you want to fight for your rights and for your stuff. I would imagine most of the thieves KNOW you wont fight to hard and hold them accountable.

Good Luck and I hope you or anyone else never has to put up with this again, unlikely but I still wish you all luck!

  13. What can I say... wow, I am very sorry to hear of this tragedy but I know that your family will be strong and get through this, and more importantly, your lil girl will be resting in peace with the Lord above.

Its hard for us humans to imagine or fathom a place better than here but have faith that God has a graduation plan for all of us, and your lil girl has just graduated to a place with no pain and thats full of love for eternity.

Have Faith and God Bless in these hard times! (F)

  15. Hmm in my opinion the seminar is useless, basically what they teach you is what to do in the event your husband or future husband abuse you, physically or emotionally, the lady who conducted mine has this piece of advise to all of us who were present at the seminar. "Call 911". Big Deal! I think they just want the 750.00 PhP per Filipino who is to marry a foreigner.

Yup!!! That's what I think too... Throughout these posts there is one thing that has been consistant, INCONSISTANCY!!! Some need to have all these papered requirements and pictures, others require nothing. Hmmmm, seems to me that if they were REALLY concerned, they would have the SAME requirement throughout ALL the CFO's. To me it's nothing more than a joke and what they really want is the almighty PESO!!!

  16.

    Hello all!

I'm just wondering if I have move my interview date because I'll be having my medical at SLEC starting Jan 5 .

Then my interview would be at Jan 9.

Will it be enough time for the medical results to be forwarded to US Embassy?

Just wanna be sure. Cause I have a roundtrip flight kasi.

    Hope anybody will help..

They advertise to do it at LEAST a week prior to the interview. That's assuming that nothing is wrong and it's just two days and sent...but it may get there and will be pushing it as the poster above me stated.

    Good Luck!

  17. Can anyone here share how they came to learn that the CFO seminar was required? My fiance learned about it through word of mouth. I can't possibly imagine that the majority of K1 immigrants from the Philippines are learning about the CFO seminar requirement through word of mouth.

My fiance recently went to Manila for her visa interview and one week later received her visa shipped via Delbros. However, during her interview, no one with the embassy told her anything about the CFO seminar and in my correspondence with the embassy, they informed me that only the visa and valid passport was required to travel to the USA. Shipped with the visa was a form with some information about the CFO seminar at St. Mary's. But nowhere on the form does it state that the CFO is a requirement. The only thing my fiance heard about the CFO seminar prior to receiving her visa from the embassy was through word of mouth.

While we now can safely presume that it's required, how can we be certain that there isn't anything else that's required that either me or my fiance haven't been told about?

Yeah... it was word of mouth for Us too. I just read about all the procedures and requirements that past appilicants had experienced. I think you are right though, if the benificiary isn't being told about this requirement EXCEPT word of mouth, there should be something mentioned. Luckily, most have figured it out through word of mouth and haven't experienced delays or missed flights.
