  1. For those of you who didn't formally propose or get proposed to before filing the I-129F, what did you say at the interview when the officer asked "How did s/he propose?"

Just tell the truth whatever it was. Something like "we just mutually decided we wanted to be married so started looking into how we could live in the same country. After learning it was possible and filing, we exchanged rings to celebrate......." Not everybody gets down on one knee, especially in this weird separated dating arrangement, so whatever happened should be fine. Our little story of how we met explained we became great friends and visited in each other's homes starting years ago. It was almost like penpal/exchange visitors. Then life takes unexpected twists and we ended up divorced and widowed but continued to be friends and visited each other some more. So I believe the guy's question to Nick was, "so when did it get romantic between you two?" That's almost embarrassing...what was he asking?!? LOL. Anyway the guy will have read over the "how we met" part from your petition and looked at your evidence, so you can just tell how the relationship progressed to marriage plans based on that without having a formal fancy proposal.

    Thank you very much, Nich-Nick.

  2. Heya guys,

I just wanted to say thank you for everyone's support up until this point in time, because both Knight and myself would have been incredibly lost without the generous advice and help that this forum (and everyone on it!) has given. I can't help but feel incredibly nervous and today's just crawling by...but I'm hoping and praying that it goes well tomorrow. So much weighs on whatever happens tomorrow morning to the point that it makes me dizzy just thinking about it. It will determine whether I can start planning or not, and it's incredibly important considering that I need April to study for my finals. I've got everything ready and out, even organised my clothes. Just been trying to do things today to distract myself (like cleaning the gross flat pantry out). I'm rambling, but in short...thank you all.

The best of luck to ahlpo too!

    Magpie.

    Good luck!

  3. Hi all

Tiger has his interview next week and we have a couple of question that we hope people who have had their interviews can answer:

For those of you who didn't formally propose or get proposed to before filing the I-129F, what did you say at the interview when the officer asked "How did s/he propose?"

We proposed to each other and exchanged engagement rings after filing. Is it okay for Tiger to wear his at the interview?

    Thanks,

    Swan

Those who got their police certificates recently, how long did it take? I sent for mine, 1st Class, on the 11th March and still haven't received it.

    Hi Laura

    Ours took about two weeks.

  5. Hi all

Swan and Tiger again. We dropped our Packet 3 in the mail today including two copies of the DS-156 (with barcode). According to a VJ post somewhere we aren't supposed to sign that form, but it didn't have the big PLEASE DO NOT SIGN warning on it. Should Tiger have signed it and, if so, should he just re-send it signed even though we haven't gotten an RFE or will they let him sign it at the Consulate? We don't want to delay anything.

    Thanks,

    Swan

  6. Much appreciated. Here's hoping that I can get an approved pending the medical and everything will be alright :D

Heading off to London Town shortly to spend the night at the Boston Court Hotel in Marble Arch, which apparently is about half a mile from the embassy and also the Knightsbridge medical centre.

Photos to be done early doors, then interview at 9, followed by medical at 2:50 and a heart attack by half 5 I would imagine!

Will report back tomorrow night regardless.

    Cheers

    Good luck!

  7. If the London Embassy has received it them send it back

Here is the addy I sent mine back to

    Visa Brach

    United States Embassy

    5 Upper Grosvenor Street

    London W1A 2JB

Takes them a while to put on the system so you have the time to receive the affidavit and supporting documents

Good luck and hope you get a speedy interview

    Thanks, Stinky Monkey!

  8. Hi all

We got our NOA2 a couple weeks ago and the embassy in London has received our application. We have completed our Packet 3 forms based on the lists provided in this forum and scheduled our medical. Would it be okay to send our forms and checklist to the Immigrant Visa Unit before we actually receive the Packet 3 and, if so, where do we send them to?

We noticed that a couple others on this thread have sent in their documents before receiving Packet 3. We're getting a little impatient now as you can imagine. We'd like the interview done and dusted ASAP.

  9. Hi everyone

We are filling out our DS-230 to be submitted to the US Embassy in London. The embassy's webpage says to fill out Part I (pages 1-2) only of this form. However, the VJ example DS-230 form shows Part II (pages 3-4) also completed.

What is the norm? Should we fill out Parts I & II (all 4 pages)?

    Thanks,

    Swan and Tiger

  10. My I129 petition was received at USCIS Nov 26 2008 and i received a letter I-797C, Notice of Action.

On the letter says "Notice Type: Receipt Notice"

    Is this the NOA1??

Today I received in another letter stating notice type: "Approval Notice".

also saying the NVC processing should be complete within two to four weeks after receiving the petition from USCIS.

    Is this my NOA2??

    Yup! Congratulations!
