  1. VO:how did you meet your husband?

Me: I met my husband on a website called Asianpromise.

I put our photo albums in front of the window, VO noticed and asked: can I have a look of your pictures, please?

Me: Sure! We had been to many beautiful cities in China and took a lot of beautiful pictures!

I handed in a handmate photo album, which was a birthday gift for my hubby’s last birthday, and introduced to the VO: this is what I made for my husband’s birthday last year.

He read the words on the b-day photo album for a while, then I gave him another 4 photo albums. he stopped at a picture, I told him: that is fairyland Guilin. We took a hiking by the Li river. Fantastic scenery, isn’t it? VO nodded and smiled. And then he stopped at a picture where we drawn our hands and wrote our love anounment on the note book, I introduced : that is our marriage vow written on a notebook at a cafe of yangshuo. We were engaged in that cafe. VO smiled again. He turned all the pages of the albums roughly and quickly , then returned to me.

I waved my husband’s passport , said: my husband is waiting for me downstairs right now.do you want to have a check of his passport? VO waved his head. I asked:“how about his driving license? I have it here as well.” He waved his head again, and said:“No,thanks!”

VO checked the documents for a while, then asked :“what do you do for a living?”

Me:“I am a secretary in a trading company”, I stoped for a while and added“it is actually an American company, my boss is from Portland, US. ”

VO nodded and asked:“what is your education level?”

    Me:“I hold a colleage degree.”

Vo then asked in Chinese:“ is it a bachole degree or post-graduate degree?”

Me replied in English still:“It is a 3 year college degree.”

    VO nodded again,asked:“can I have your passport,please?”

I gave him my passport, he checked on the computer and asked:“ did you apply for a non-immigrant visa before?”

Me:“yes, I applied for a visitor visa to see my parent-in-law in the US last June, but they told me to apply for an immigrant visa instead. That is why I am here now. ”

VO nodded, said“I see. ”then he took out a read slip from the drawer and stapled it with my appointment letter, he asked before he gave me the red slip: by the way, your husband is working in the US,right?

Me: Sure. He is working for a company called K12 in Herndon ,Virginia.

VO then gave me the red slip and said: You are approved.

    Me: Thank you.

    VO: have a nice day!

Me: Thank you. The same to you.

    End of interview.

  2. Thank you all,

I am having my wife prepare the question by question review complete with her answers. Hence the delay. We are at the post office right now picking up the visa and getting it in our hands :)

By the time we get home we should have the review completed. It was a quick interview process for the 6 people we went with. All 6 got pinks.

The worst two things to happen. I ordered coffee at the shop on the 4th floor and they brought me sunflower seeds and crackers so instead of spending 5 CNY it cost me 50 CNY lol.. no biggie but a bit frustrating.. make sure you tell them you want the coffee only.. they do not speak english so be prepared :P

Second thing.. my wife took a friends umbrella in with her because it was raining. They make you throw the umbrellas in a big box. when my wife was finished she could not tell which of the 100's of umbrella's it was. So it was lost..

Interview details and experience from start to finish is coming. Thank you all for your best wishes and support.

  3. Obviously after going through a whole lot of days waiting (China it was about 330 days and we still have 2 weeks to the interview) some find it hard to wait. Others figure they have been waiting so long a bit more won't hurt.

Personally my wife and I discussed this and decided she wanted 1 month to get things sorted out at home and then she will fly in. I support the fact that she needs to resolve things and leave work on good terms.

Me personally i waited 2 hours :P then the doctor pulled me outta good ole mom :D

  4. Personally i think our economies just auto corrected. They were over bloated. Now the rest of things is catching up to the drop.

Hopefully it will stay where your salary is more in line with your bills :P

$4.50 / gal of gas was rediculous and $400,000 for a 3 bed room townhouse was equally nuts.

What scares me is im only 31 and i remember gasoline being $0.77 a gallon in high school

Try living overseas. Even at $4.50/gal gas is still cheap by what people pay in Europe. Americans are just spoiled.

Same with your $400,000 townhouse. It is all relative.

Example: In the US, the average home is 4-5 times your salary. In New Zealand, its more like 10 times your salary.

haha.. i personally find it easier with the cost of living to save overseas so spending more on a house is less of a concern because i have more left over every month. But thats just me :D

  5. I had an ex g/f like this girl. OO i have hubby i can sit at home.

My wife wants to sit at home but we made one agreement in our case. If i am the only one working, no complaining about money or how its spent. If something is too much we don't get it. If you really want it go back to work and help. She runs the house i run the bills and public side of things.

Its a shame you ran into this. Need to sit with her and discuss and try to come to some mutual agreement you both can live with. If you can't live with it thats a choice you have to make unfortunately.

If it is a troll.. go back to your bridge.. people here have real problems.

  6. This statement is also true. It does not mean give into him in all discussions with conflict. But do realize you need to give way sometimes. If its sex and not in the mood there are alternatives to "SEX" to keep your man happy. And to say its out of the ordinary past your 30s is silly. It changes thats all. 20's is all about getting what you can get for many men. 30's are a carry over of the 20's with a lot more consideration for the woman in most cases. after 30's Its still an act of love at the end of the day. Just as buying flowers or writing a quick card or giving your wife a massage. You do them because you care and want them to be happy and successful. You want to share that you Love (REALLY CARE and want to share time with this person). Sex is just another part of that. Its not bad, its not foul. It gets bad when its taken not given. Asking for it however isnt bad either. Its saying "Wifey I feel a need, I want to express". You saying no and him being disappointed or feeling unloved is an issue. But as mentioned before if its been 1 year since you had sex with him.. hes WAY overdue. Most men are fine for 2 weeks to a month. After that they get grumpy. grumpy turns to bitter etc. Some don't need it as much and that works to your favor. Some need it more and that does not. Its a man's cycle. Women don't want to hear it but thats our "HORMONE" cycle. Just like women vary between 26 and 34 days or so men vary as well. You can rest assured they will be just as mean as you are when its time for cramps etc.

    So you have 2 choices:

    1. Listen to all the other modern women on here and "Don't do nothing you don't want because its YOUR body."

    or

    2. Really sit down and have some serious conversations with your husband about how this situation makes him feel....how it makes YOU feel....and come up with some kind of compromise like 2 married adults.

But one thing to answer your original question as well. That is part of american culture. Men feel deprived in many cases which is why the joke goes .. "You get married no more sex". Women feel empowered which is great but i feel a bit overcorrected for the ones I have met. Its all about comprimise and what you two are comfortable with.

  7. A healthy and mutually satisfactory sex life is an important part of a couple's relationship.

He certainly should not be imposing himself on you or pressuring you to have sex or be intimate when you don't feel you want to be.

On the other hand, we have only your side of the story here, not both.

You don't indicate how often you do have sex or whether you find it satisfactory, or he does.

For example, if you feel satisfied with sex 2-3 times per month whereas he would want a higher frequency of intimacy, clearly you are both going to be frustrated with this mismatch of desires. Also as an example, if one partner expects sex to be part of a full courtship ritual with lots of snuggling, warm bath together, mood lighting and music, while the other partner just wants to go animalistic right away - that's also going to lead to some tension around the whole subject of intimacy. It's important to talk to your partner, understand what their expectations and desires are, and try to come partway to meeting them. Make it fun, make it enjoyable, do the things that turn him on (within reason, of course), let him know what turns you on. If this doesn't help, seek professional counseling from a therapist.

BTW - this is a complicated area and really not part of the immigration process. I'm not sure I'd turn to an immigration forum for this subject. But, that's just me.

I actually agree with this statement the most out of all of them. All lovers go through that honeymoon phase as well where you hardly leave the bed. From my friends that I talk to most often its the woman who is done with the sex part of it first. Men are visual/sexual by nature. Sorry that part is the truth. Women equate emotions to love more than men do. Take into consideration each guy is different but... certain aspects are only changed by intensity. I got lucky and chose someone who has the same frequency of desire as I do.

Should he be pestering you? Chances are lack of attention in that matter might cause him to question love. Just as a woman can think a man being happy talking to another woman might be a reason to question love. Both side of this issue come from insecurity. I would not go as far as to say he is being an ####. I think counseling is a good idea but talking to him is the most important. Also noted from above is the fact that this is only one side of the story without his interpretation of the same events. At least from my perspective even with my wife i will give you this advice.

MEN ARE FIXERS. Women like to have a man listen. If you are telling a story he cannot fix HE WILL GET FRUSTRATED! if emotions get the best of you and you fire off at him to either 1. Get some emotion from him or 2. because you feel he is not listening the instant you start yelling its over most of the time. You have to find an avenue to discuss feelings without it escalating louder. Once again minor differences in sexes. Men take loud yelling as an aggression or a challenge. The calmer you are the calmer he is that has been proven in many studies. It invokes adrenaline they get angry and have to control it which makes them feel worse. Women tend to be more compassionate but also more vendictive. Basically their emotional state leads to the opposite rush of adrenaline in which women become sporatic. You have to find middle ground, BOTH of you.

Hopefully that will help. Unless he tries to force the issue i wouldnt worry too much about it as long as you can find a channel to discuss it like adults.

Now.. for some others in this forum (Sorry i made sure to reply to your topic first but now i have some things to say)

Saying a man has desires is not a sexist comment nor is asking her to discuss options with her husband and being more open to his style as well. Its not sexist its a fact. Someone who appreciates and attempts to understand the differences and the role they fill is nice. Funny thing.. in a relationship (IMHO) there is no truly independent parties. You want to be the man and a woman in a relationship live alone. Otherwise it takes comprimise and work. That means giving into both sides, choosing your battles and learning to let somethings go.

This is one of the 3 main reasons i even began looking at the option of women outside of the US/CAN/MEXICO area. Not everything is on a womans terms. Sorry. Hate to say it. Discussing, celebrating or pointing out differences is not a racist thing. Once again in america is has become the worse form of things. Now to speak your opinion or point out scientifically proven facts leads people to say you are racist/sexist etc. Thats not what that means.

i.e. saying for example black people make up 12% of the population but represent 44% of the prison is a fact not a racist comment.

Its using that statistic to make a judgement on every black person you meet that makes you a racist. Far too many people say making a statement is racist/feminist/sexist/IST IST IST IST IST. Its the judgements you make on people you don't know. The fact is everyone does that. I know people that are "Style" ist. If you have the wrong clothes on they won't talk to you. The reason all these problems exist. Failure to meet in the middle. The world owes no one anything. It gave everything it owed to you when you were born. You got life.

I have a wife who isn't afraid to be a woman but at the same time she rules the house, in public she wants me to rule. I am fine with that. Relationships are full of comprise. By nature I believe in equal partnership (to a certain degree i think thats still because i grew up in a time where women wanted men more emotional and then found out having an emotional man is like living with a woman). In talking to my wife i found that my asking her to make decisions all the time made her uncomfortable. She enjoys the differences between us and understands the different traits of men vs women. She as funny as it sounds seems to put a lot of thought into it.

And i also agree with the statement

BTW - this is a complicated area and really not part of the immigration process. I'm not sure I'd turn to an immigration forum for this subject. But, that's just me.

But if someone is going to ask and you don't want to help and just start up trouble or say this guy is this or that woman is that when you cannot possibly understand the situation do what your grandma told you "If you can't say anything nice be quiet" Ignore the post. Move on and let those who want to take the time to offer some valuable information to her do so. She can decide who she will ignore and not ignore. The last thing she needs is more angry posters adding to her issues.

  8. since you have the P3 (instruction packet) you can hold this packet, but try not to sit on it for one year, probably 6-8 months then send it off.... you've gone too far to risk having your petition canceled and sent back to the states..... This economy will probably not get better for awhile, this could be the new trend now, who knows... it's probably best to complete the process and decide then...

Personally i think our economies just auto corrected. They were over bloated. Now the rest of things is catching up to the drop.

  9. I'm a little confused on whether or not my fiancee should get her vaccinations before the interview or after.

The exam hospital says that she should come back after passing the interview to get her vaccinations.

The medical exam forms are a little confusing to me, and I want to be sure that we don't show up on the interview date and have them slam us with a reschedule because we didn't get the vaccinations at the right time.

    Help is always appreciated.

My wife got hers today for our June 08 interview. From what we could find you get the ones they require up front. Some require additional shots at a later time. Those followups/boosters are after the interview.

Don't quote me on it but thats the way we are going for our interview. I found nothing that suggests otherwise. I would rather walk into the interview with too much than not enough.

  10. Its not us, not sure who that is but it seems they have a very close timeline to ours which is interesting.

The weight of our package was 96 lbs.

Haha.. I will do my best

:) I have noticed not a lot on here but i always look forward to connecting. My wife does the CandleforLove site as well.

We have like two people on that site that will be there i believe.

Thanks for the grats and congrats to all of you :D

Im sure interviews will be swift and pinks abundant..

your wife isn't CandleforLove member 'mei3935'? possibly, a friend?

    Their particulars are CR1 visa

    Case sent to Guangzhou: 2009-05-06

    Case received by Guangzhou: 2009-05-21

Which is a little faster than your incredible time and a welcome trend for me and 'Dan & Juan'

Do you by chance happen to remember the weight of your DHL package?

Once again the 'size' issue rears its ugly head . . .

    :innocent::whistle:

    . . . . . . . - Mine is 5lb ! !

  11. You know there are not many CR1 China interviews scheduled here on VJ. But . . . I hope to be one soon!!!

I am interested in every gritty detail

    . . .. . .MOSTLY I would like a sense of 'boni fide' relationship.

. . .. . .. . .Also I would like some sense of how many CR1 interviews there are and how many do or don't pass.

    . . .. . .. . .. . .and why would be nice too!!!

hahahahahahaha that is a lot to burden you with !! :bonk:

well . . . . wish you good luck and speedy interview with approval

Haha.. I will do my best

  12. I was saying they batch them out to GUZ not to all. There were 3 packages in excess of 100 pounds in the Tracking numbers NVC gave us to watch our package.

We were in a 96lb package of diplomatic documents sent to GUZ. You can view my timeline to see how long it took.

What happens is it first gets to a clearance point from shipping to the warehouse.

Once that clears it remains in clearance in the DHL Warehouse until GUZ is ready to recieve that package.

So if you were part of a 1lb package and happened to arrive the same day as they are ready to go pick some up then you would complete faster than others. The 300lb package took almost 2 weeks longer to clear than the 1 15 and 96lb package.

According to the GUZ email I got it seems that it took that long for them to clear the backlog. It also depends on your status. Conditional Immigrant or UnConditional immigrant.

Just what i have been told. We all know different emails say different things. All i know is we got an interview for june 08 on may 18th. our case completed around march 17th. It arrived at the consulate on May 5th. So we actually are moving pretty quick. Others with a similar timeline have not even been recieved yet. They are part of that last package that just cleared recently.

  13. Well we got the interview letter in the mail finally.

I posted on tuesday or wednesday that my wife called and they told her the interview was scheduled June 8th and the p4 and interview letter were sent out May 18th.. Lots of time to prepare there ><

I got my ticket and will be in guangzhou June 6th or so.

Now the wife is nervous :P

  14. Good luck on your interview! I will certainly like to go with my husband too.

Btw, in addition to photos, phonebills, mails, emails, I-864 package whatelse other evidence can we bring to the interview?

If you really want to go with everything you can do the following (I do not think you need all of it but hey.)

    1) downloaded and filled out all of the P3/P4 paperwork from the GUZ website

    2) got 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 W2's

    3) got 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 Transcripts

    4) fill out I-134 paperwork

    5) Photos

    6) letter of evolution of relationship

    7) proof of address

    - paid electric utility bills

    - copy of driver's license

    8) bank verification statement

    9) letter of employment verification per the rules they set

    10) collect paystubs

    11) Record of Trips

    12) Phone Logs

    13) Chat Logs

    14) Vaccination Book a.k.a. The little yellow international book

    15) Petitioner Passport

    16) Money Orders to beneficiary) shows support

    17) Duplicate Copy you made for your USCIS/NVC Packet Submissions

    18) MOST OF ALL!!! Your Significant Other :)

    Thats my checklist of things.

  15. I am having my wife reverify this 3 times over but she called DOS today and they told her our interview is June 08,2009

This is a bit scary to only have 3 weeks notice.

Work is going to flip even with the pre-warning I gave them.

I am glad it came faster than expected but to this point no interview letter just phone call confirmation. We are anxiously calling everyone we can reach for physical documentation and verification.

  16. When i called to speak to DOS i found out they batch out shipments. This is why some of the application packages are up to 300lbs. It is also why certain people who made it in at the last part of a batch typically see faster times. They didn't have to wait for the shipment to fill up.

Its very strange how it all works. Mine was part of a 96lb shipment that we tracked and it was recieved by the consulate in what would be considered fairly fast time. However we are still waiting for our P3. So once it gets to the consulate i have a feeling there is little order to the dates in the containers. Thats just my guess.

Take it for what it is worth. Unfortunately for my wife, her goal was to get her slip by June 3, my birthday, so she could be here for that. Unfortunately with no appointment date in hand we have had to accept it will probably be more like august (Of course after summer is winding down) to arrive. Hopefully the p3 comes soon.

  17. I think it depends on the country.

We applied for my wife twice. China denied it twice saying that she needs to apply for an IV visa.

The first time was before I put in an IV application.

The second time she was still told the same thing after I had applied and they received notice of the IV application.

She explained we have done that but they denied her none the less.

She had a job, recommendation from her boss, bank account information, vacation request and family information.

They simply say she has to wait for the IV Visa to complete.

Other countries are not so hard on it. In our case we just have to survive the process. I make a point to fly out every 6 months to visit.

    Hopefully you have better success.
