  2. Hi Guys,

I have been searching high and low for this topic and am still soooo confused. :-~

    (1) As a K1, I did my full medical check-up AND vaccinations back in my home country. Do I still need to visit a USCIS physician here in the States? When I enterred The States, I gave a thick envelope to the immigration officer which contained everything which the US Embassy used on me. I am currently in the process of filling up my OAS application forms. If I do not need to do anything extra to what I have already done in my home country, do I need to put that in my cover letter?

if you have a copy of the medical report from your home country or at least the vaccinations portion you can have a civil surgeon transfer that to a new I-693 form and submit that with your AOS app

    (2) When I attended my interview at the US Embassy in my home country, the documents which I provided them (example: birth cert, police certs/letter of good conduct, etc), I was told that these documents will be sent to USCIS (in that thick envelope which I passed to the Immigration Officer at POE). Do I still need to provide them together with my OAS/I-485 form filling?

You must re-submit a copy of Birth cert, you don't need a copy of police report or good conduct because, USCIS will make you have you finger prints taken and FBI does a back ground check on you.

    Hope this helps

    THANKS HEAPS!!!

  3. I did open NRO with ICICI bank while I was in India during marriage time. I am the primary person... not sure what the technical term is :) I've to warn you though, there were some major drawbacks listed for NRO accounts... I can't remember all, but some stuff I remember is, I can only withdraw in Rs. currency, and I can not withdaw in US or any other country except India... some stuff like those... Like I said, I am not at all an expert and cared less since that we only opened it for the purpose of joint ownership..

    Thank you :star:

    No Problem

  6. If there is a Citi bank branch local to the area, you can access the account info in the us and add and remove money in dollars. On my last trip i opened a HDFC NRI account that my fiancé can access it. The account is under my name but she has permission to to use it, i had to be there for HDFC account setup, but i was able to setup the Citi account from here by sending my info to the local citi bank rep in india. My citi branch is in Surat Gujarat. Hope this helps

  10. The two forms are affidavits of support.

The I-134 is normally used by the embassy to make sure you have a sponsor that meets the poverty level.

The I-864 is used when you AOS - it is more legally binding than the I-134. (it also has more ways to make up the level needed).

Can't speak for that embassy, the one in Turkey had a list and said we are to get the medical down before the interview date (10 days or so before).

VFS? not familiar with that - do you have a link where it talks about it?

If you read this post http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=172234 it has responses to all the people who went thru the New Dehi consulate, Mumbai differs from dheli, If you start from the beining you will find an answers to pretty much all your question.

    Good Luck.

Ah - looks like the embassy outsourced the visa processing to VFS. VFS will do the initial processing than pass it to the embassy if it passes.

They probably did this to speed up the process.

Kinda of ironic, outsourcing while in India.

    HAHAHA. Good one. I see.

What about the medical exam? Is there a need to wait for Packet 4 to be mailed or should I just have my fiance schedule an appointment now considering the locations/doctors are provided on the embassy's website?
