We had gotten our biometrics appt letters (spouse and step daughter) with appt for Jul 23. This day proposed a problem, so we walked in to the office on Thursday afternoon July 8 at 1:15. The security guard asked to see the appt letters and a government issued picture ID. We were given two information papers to fill out, which took about 3-4 minutes. We went to the next station in the process and handed in the papers to the girl that already had our appt letters and picture IDs paper clipped together. The office only had one other family and the girl was waiting for us to approach her desk. She asked us to sit back down and no sooner had we picked seats then the biometrics collector called my wife and then the next guy (there were two collection stations operating) called my step daughter. They took about 2 minutes for my step daughter and 4 minutes for my wife. Adults have to have each finger and then both hands images taken, and then the picture portion for my wife ahd to be done twice because she misunderstood and moved just as the flash and image were being taken. After that, we were done and out of there. It took 22 minutes from parking the car, walking 4 minutes to the office, having the biometrics taken, and walking 4 minutes back to the car. The staff was friendly, professional, and well organized.

Received Bio appt letter today 06 July, it was dated 29 June and mailed 30 June.

It seems that they have a glitch in their system. Many members have reported that they received two letters. Some members reported that they received two biometrics appointments. At this moment, I wouldn't worry about that as long as you have the letter.

As for your 10 year old step daughter, her GC has been extended for 1 year automatically with your wife's extension. She will not be required to do a biometrics and her GC will be approved with your wife's approval. Most probably you paid $80 for the step daughter's biometrics but she will not be required to take them...

Update: Received NOA1 extension letter/ I-797 for Step daughter today. The date of her letter (June 11) is one day after my wife's letter (June 10). Daughter's letter notes that she is a part of wife's petition. So, all is well.

It seems that they have a glitch in their system. Many members have reported that they received two letters. Some members reported that they received two biometrics appointments. At this moment, I wouldn't worry about that as long as you have the letter.

As for your 10 year old step daughter, her GC has been extended for 1 year automatically with your wife's extension. She will not be required to do a biometrics and her GC will be approved with your wife's approval. Most probably you paid $80 for the step daughter's biometrics but she will not be required to take them...

Well, we received not only one, but TWO separate I-797's in two separate envelopes from the California Service Center. Both were receipt stamped on 10 June but 19 minutes apart. Both have my wife's A number. However, my step daughter (age ten) did not get an I-797. We do not intend to travel outside the US, and their conditional Green cards do not expire until September. I intend to wait and see what develops with the biometrics letter before i contact the USCIS about the situation.

I'm assuming its an initial receipt/processing error and its not really that big a deal IF the actual case processor who will work the case issues both permanent cards, OR if we win the Interview lottery.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Anybody have any thoughts or comments as to how I should proceed?

Received NOA1 today 16 June. Dated 10 June, postmarked 14 June.

We received TWO separate I-797C (with two separate receipt times 19 minutes apart) in TWO separate envelopes, that BOTH have my wife's name. We DID NOT receive an I-797 for our step daughter. Both I-797s have my wife's A number.

Does this seem like a problem that needs to be corrected? We don't plan on traveling, and their conditional Green Cards do not expire until September, so I'm willing to ride this out for a little while and basically see waht develops when we get our biometrics appointment letter. Any body have any htoughts or comments?

I'd also very strongly consider making a local police and even FBI report about her death threats. The FBI angle could come in because she is threatening death over Immigration benefits which makes it a federal beef.

And let me add that the IRS will key off of the lead filer's SSN (i'm assuming its your spouse) as well as your SSN to determine the correct transcript to give you. I bet they won't even notice the two different spellings of your first name. If they do, and try and give you grief about it, blame it on them and say you spelled it the same way both times, LOL.

I would also ensure that I used one spelling in all future forms and documents from here on out. What name is on your GC? Hopefully its the same as on your SSN card as well as your passport. Use that spelling forever more on any and all official documents, driver license, credit card/accounts, leases, etc etc etc. You can't undo whats done (and DON'T worry about it now), but you can pick one and stick with if from now on.

I think going to the office near you would be the easiest way for you to get your transcripts. The clerks will be able to answer any question or clear up any confusion.

All you really need for I-751 purposes is your "Tax Transcript" for the appropriate years.

Its easy, don't stress over the forms.

Any of the offices listed in Wisconsin can provide you with the transcripts you need.

I went to the Honolulu Office to get our transcripts. It took like ten minutes from the time i walked in the door to the time i walked back out with the two tax years i needed. I was the only customer during my time there. The service clerk took my info in a form and then printed off our transcripts and called me back up to get the forms. You can call the office before you go to verify what ID etc you will need to get your forms.

About 2-3 weeks before i went to the office, i sent in via fax the request for the forms. I got impatient and decided to walk into the local office. The copies i ordered via fax arrived in the mail about two weeks after i got the copies at the local office. So that process works, but it takes a lot longer.

In my opinion the IRS directs which address so that everyone does not send their requests to one location and the workload is separated. If you choose to use the mail in/fax in request method, I would send both to the same address.

I-751 delivered to CSC June 10 (Express mailed Jun 08)

I updated our address via online update at USCIS, but the reminder to file an I-751 went to the old address. This doesn't surprise me.

Has anyone else experienced this, and here is the more important question: Did USCIC send the Biometrics appt letter to the proper address that was used on the I-751 (which is also the updated address via the online update)?

Sent it in USPS Express which includes online tracking just like FEDEX or UPS. Cost was $18.30.

I'm not concerned with the time (this is our 90th day from the cut off, so we are more than fine), only with ensuring it gets to where it is supposed to go. Looks like Priority or Express with delivery confirmation is the way to go.

What is the best method for sending in the package? Is it worth it to send it in via registered mail?

Has anyone had any problems just sending it priority or regular mail?

We are in much the same situation, all the utilities are in my name only, and we bank online. We do jointly own our condo with all the appropriate documentation and we bought a car together showing both names on the contract and insurance, registration, etc. A lease or landlord statement or even family member affidavit of your living situation would be just as effective if you do not own or even rent, IMO. I plan to get around the utility difficulty by discussing it in a paragraph of the cover letter. I'm also highlighting on the copies of our joint bank account statements our employers' Direct Deposits for both of us into the joint bank account, as well as the outgoing payments to the utilities and one copy each of cleared automatic generated checks for the condo fee and car payment. I did change my mind and am including a sample of 3 months over the 21 month period of the bank statement. Bob is right, quality over quantity. Tell the IO in your cover letter what is in your package and why it is there. I chose to highlight names, addresses, and account numbers on each document to ease the IO's burden and lead his or her eyes where i want them to look. I also annotated husband's pay, wife's pay, and the various utility bills in the margin next to the various highlighted entries of our bank statements. Bear in mind I have not submitted the package yet and therefore can not comment as to the success of my method, but I've spent the day preparing it as I have described. Its gonna be fine.

I don't plan to include any affidavits or pictures because we can show with tax transcripts, property and auto ownership documents, and the bank account info that we are financially comingled and happily cohabitating. I'm including drivers licenses showing same addresses and medical/ dental coverage and billings, and various official correspondence addressed to my wife as secondary supporting evidence.

Call me crazy, but I'd enjoy being interviewed just to see what its like. I'm sure my wife would not though, LOL. We are happily married and have nothing to be afraid of or hide. FDR said "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself". I agree in this instance.

After convincing the consular Visa interviewer at the Embassy in Manila that she had made a mistake and getting her to over turn herself 10 days after her original denial and rejection of my wife's immigrant Visa application, I'm not sweating the removal of conditions process. Not even a little bit at all. I spent a couple hundred bucks talking to an immigration lawyer, disregarded her advice, spent a frantic week digging into the US immigration code, flew to Manila, and basically walked into the Embassy unannounced with no appointment with my wife, gently demanded to be seen, and got a second interview on the spot. "You seem to have done your homework" she said when I hit her with the downloaded US code showing her she was wrong. Uhhhh, yeah. She approved my wife's Visa that day. I'm not recommending this course of action, LOL. The point of my rant is that if you are legit, there is no need to sweat the load. You'll be fine, just take your time, meet your deadlines, and include good quality evidence demonstrating Bob's 3 pillars. Good Luck.
