broma25, did you get the priorty and received date on your NOA. I see SO2008 did not.
-
i was just checking on the shipping status of the N400 application. turn out the USPS said "Your item was forwarded to a different address at 4:31 PM on December 15, 2008 in MESQUITE, TX 75185. This was because of forwarding instructions or because the address or ZIP Code on the label was incorrect." I am living in Alabama, I sent mine to USCIS,TSC, PO BOX 851204 Mesquite TX 75185. Does anybody has any idea what's the problem?
You may need to see what exact address you wrote in your receipt. Some time people made a typo and the only way you can tell is by looking ant your receipt that you received from USPS. I am not sure if TX75185-1204 make any different.

The primary thing missing and relevant to this thread is the name of the country from which your wife will apply for a visa.
Here you go
-
I am about to petition my husband for K3. We married in May and left the country for 6 months, recently returning to the U.S. and he entered on the visa-waiver program.
Now, if I were to send in the I-130, would our petition be disadvantaged in any way if I-130 is sent in while husband is still in the country as a visitor? Thanks.
Nope
You know, K3 is dead, right? Ok, not really dead but for most people it's not the best option. Have you considered just going the CR1 route?
Not dead but a dinosaur. Only people who are not aware of the ins and outs of K3s compared to the CR-1 go with them.
You keep saying this but it is just not true. Some people are actually smart to go with the K3 visa for various reasons. If the immigrating spouse lives in Western Canada and doesn't care about working soon, K3 will get the couple reunited several months sooner than CR1/IR1 just because of the dynamics of how things are done in Canada. Others are perfectly willing to trade a few hundred dollars to save two or three months. There are a few countries where no matter how fast you get through NVC, the CR1 will cost you three months or more. I think all should CONSIDER the immigrant visa path but it's not as cut and dried as you constantly make it seem. At least not for all petitioners.
I agree, I do not care if my wife get a green card 6 months after she entered the US or even 6 years. I just need her here. Why bother with CR1/IR1 if K3 could do it faster for me.
I don't mean to sound like a board bully but you haven't provided a profile with country name etc. There are two sides to this. If there is likely to be only a month saved, you may well want to trade that month to avoid the whole AOS process. There are many valid reason to take the slightly slower route besides authorization to work. They may or may not apply to you but without timeline data, we don't have a clue.
I am an LRP will update my info as soon as I become USC and upgrade my case.

Hello All,
I filed for my husband (I-130 petition) back in September of 2007. Our case was finally approved one year later on September 3, 2008. I receieved an approval notice for my I 130 as well as I-129F (filed in December 07) and the approval notice stated that the case has been forwarded to the NVC. Upon ever call of mine to NVC they stated they could take anywhere from 2 weeks up to 90 days to get the documents from USCIS. Now after December 3, 2008 that it has been over 90 days NVC still has no records of my case. USCIS states that they have sent it and that I should file an I 824 petition which would cost me $340. Has anyone else experienced the same situation?? Shall I wait or go ahead and file the I 824 cause I have given both parties a hard time and they have left me with this last resort.
Why do not you follow the K3 route and see if your document being forwarded to the embassy overseas. You may need to go for infopass as well.

I'm writing this just in case someone out there is wondering how the L.A process is.
My appointment was for 7:30, there was a LONG line outside and it took me about 45 minutes to get inside the building, BRING A JACKET!, lol, I was freezing, I would suggest getting there earlier than the 30 minutes they ask you for but it really doesn't matter, they don't seem to care whether you are late or early as long as you show up on the correct date, the wait is mainly because you have to pass security. I went to the elevators asked somebody where the room they assigned was and then came inside the room. I put my interview letter in a little tray they have over there and played the waiting game for a about 30 more minutes. The officer called my name I went to his office, he asked me very easy questions from the civic test. Trust me, if you study you will pass this test, there are no hidden question, there are no "trick" questions, the whole thing is very straightforward, you study the material they give you you'll pass that test. The written test was one sentence only, I repeated it and then wrote it down.
Like many of the people here I will STRONGLY suggest to study your N-400 form, especially if you don't speak english very well, they do ask you the questions in the form and things about your marriage like "how many years have you been married"? "how many kids do you have?" etc.
After that the officer gave me my result (passed) and told me to wait for the Oath letter, it was pretty simple, the experience was EXACTLY like a job interview, these people weren't nice but they weren't rude either, they seem to just be doing their jobs, I don't know how else to explain it. In L.A. it is overwhelming the amount of people you'll see but remember it is not a competition.
I Wasn't asked to show any additional evidence but I wouldn't show up with nothing, bring ALL of your evidence even if they already have copies and bring the passport or whatever you used to go out of the country in trips even if it is expired. He did ask me if I had it I took it out inmediately and then he said, "it's ok, I don't need it".
OK, if you guys got any questions send me a message, I'll try to help however I can. Love y'all.
Congratulation!
I see you sent you application before the 90 days and they received 90 days exactly.
Did the interviewer mention anything to you about that?
I am wondering if you could share the timeline below
1- Green card issued date
2- Date you signed your application
3- Date you mail your application
4- Date USCIS received your application
5- Priority date.

Hi,
We got our approvals for both K-3 and CR1 on the Dec 2nd. We hired an attorney for K-3 before. and we've decided to go with K-3. Now I am wondering who is going to get the Package 3? The attorney says I will receive the K-3 package from the US Embassy in Ankara (Turkey) and send it to my attorney who is in the US.. and they will do all paperwork.. Does it make sense? In this way we'll lose more time.
Thanks in advance..and good luck to everyone!!!!
You do not need an attorney if you are going to do K3. Everything will be done overseas(P3 and 4), what the point of Hiring an attorney.

These questions are to anyone who has already had their interview. Did you take family photos with you to the interview? Did you take two(2) passport photos with you to the interview? Does anyone know if the Atlanta Office does the oath on the same day?
I am just wondering how you got the biometrics info before you know your case number.
"Called USCIS was told biometrics scheduled for Sept 12 @ 3 pm"
-
Is there anyone who did not receive biometrics letter?I did not receive mine and I am really upset about it.
You may need to Schedule an infopass before is too late.

I emailed the USPS and actually got a reply. It tells me that the USPS does not track certified mail. So I emailed back and asked if they do not why do they give you a tracking number and tell you that you can track it on their website?
They also said they have no record of my letter and can do nothing for me until they do. I have the tracking number which means nothing to them because no one bothered to enter it into the system. I don't know what to do, resend the N-400 which means copying around 30 pages again, canceling the check, getting two more photos ($16). I am going to wait one more day. I keep checking my bank account to see if they have cashed the check. I hate to send another and they end up with two applications.
Oh what to do?
Could you post the address that you sent your mail to? In other mean, the address from the receipt copy that USPS gave you when you submitted your mail.
Other thing, if you have a copy of your check, you may want to review it again and make share the fee number and letter is entered correctly.

I have been a Permanent Resident for more thatn 15 years and now I want to apply for my US citizenship (I know, I should've done a long time ago) but I have a problem that has been bugging me. About 2 or 3 years ago, I was out on the streets and was stopped by one of those volunteers that make people to register for voting. It was during a time when here in Arizona it was time to vote on various propositions and my question is this: will it affect my Naturalization process beacse I voted? At that time I knew that I couldn't vote because I wasn't a US citizen but that volunteer told me that it was no problem, that I could vote on state propsitions. I know that due to my ignorance, I probaly did a big mistake. Can somebody please help me on this? Will it really affect my Naturilization process?
You may want to post here to get better answer

Hello all
I am new to this site.Am hoping that someone will be able to help me with this question:) My husband has filed an I130 and I 129F on my behalf. I130 was filed in May 2008 when he was still a permanent resident for which he received an NOA1. However he got his citizenship in August and filed I129F with the covering letter and evidence to naturalization. Both cases are now at VSC. I130 touched in October. He received an NOA2 for I129F but no confirmation regarding upgrading of I130. How are we supposed to proceed in this case? Should we call up and ask for a confirmation?
Thanks in advance
saps
I will go ahead with the K3 process. I may start the I130 later on when approved if I am interested in that route then.

I am wondering if you could share your experience if you are done from the interview and signed N-400 before the 90 days buffer. I just want to see if USCIS goes with the priority date of the receipt you received or the date you signed the application. I will appreciate your input.
-
If somebody signed the N400 100 days before the 5 years wait and sent the application to USCIS within 0-90 days, could his case be rejected?
When does USCIS count the 90 days?
The day you signed the application
The day you send the application
The day the application is delivered
Or
The day USCIS entered in their system (priority date).
-
Ok so what exactly is NOA1 is that the letter that tells you when your biometrics are?
It’s the letter that tells you they received your application and cashed your money
-
Well I got approved for both I130 and I129F K-3. My files have been forwarded to NVC. I haven't received any conformation on I130 from NVC, but I got a letter stating that my I129F has been forwarded to the consulate in India. My question is that if my wife should pursue K-3 or wait or I130? I was thinking maybe she should go through the K-3 process and get the visa and just wait of the I130 process to go through. Is is possible or her to do that?
I want her to come here on I130 because she would get the greencard. But I don't want her to loose this opportunity of K-3.
K-3 petition is only valid until march. If NVC delays my I130 then she can come on K-3. If she waits for I130 and not pursue K-3 then the time will expire.
So, my question is basically can she get the K-3 visa approval and wait there for I130 visa?
Run with what you got.

I have just filled out the N-400, I do not see anywhere of any documents to be mailed with this form. Can someone direct me to a checklist of documents i need to send with the N-400
Thanks
If it’s the 5 years route, you will need.
1- Signed N-400
2- Two pictures
3- Copy of the green card back and forth
4- Tax return/transcript for the year that you have been out of the country for more than 6 months
5- Any court documents if you have trouble in the past, divorced, etc.

i file 80 days before 3 yrs up. yesterday morning i went to local office and i suppose to have interview, but when i got there they said, " they will have to reschedule till december 23 because it's not 3 yrs yet if they interview me today they will have to deny my application".
drive me crazy!!! now i have to wait another 5 weeks is it happen to anyone?
I went to infopass appointment yesterday at Boston office as I had noticed people getting interviews that filed a month after me. I was told that they will not schedule an interview before the 3rd anniversary of LPR so as my 3rd anniversary was only on Nov 9th I have to wait for interview, but they were able to tell me that everything is cleared and all ready for interview and it should be in Jan.
I saw many people have their interview with in2 months from filing. You could do the interview before the 3/5years but the oath has to be after the 3/5 years completed.

Let's see if I can make sure that everyone is added in chronological order and the format is updated.

How about applying for him. You can get the passport and send it overseas. He may fill the application and send to you and you take it from there.
