  1. AP was approved but when I check the USCIS Case Status site it says "we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I131 APPLICATION FOR USCIS TRAVEL DOCUMENT. Please follow any instructions on the notice."

Is there another step? Or are the sending me my AP with the approval notice and instructions on how to use it?

I want to make plans to travel asap, but don't want to plan on it, if it's JUST an approval notice and I have to go through another step to get the actual AP paperwork.

Anyone who has received an AP, please let me know... did you get your AP with your approval notice?

    Thanks!

  2. Hi Everyone!

I'm pretty much a lurker around here, but I wanted to let you know about my new blog - The Newlywed Nest. I'm going to be blogging about newlywed life, as well as issues of immigration to the US (I moved here in August on a K1 and am now in the process of AOS) and starting a new life in a new country.

Check it out, follow, leave feedback. I'd love to have you :-)

  3. I just called and spoke with a lovely customer service rep from Canada Revenue Agency (I called 1-800-959-1953). For residents of BC (I can't speak for the other provinces) she advised me that I should fax a letter on/around the day I leave to (604) 584-5164 with my name, old address, new address, telephone number, social insurance number and the date I will be leaving Canada. She also advised me that I will likely still receive a GST cheque in the mail in October and that I can mail it back with a letter telling them I am no longer eligible, along with a copy of the fax I originally sent.

In addition, BC residents can let MSP know you're leaving by filling out an online form here https://www.health.gov.bc.ca/exforms/msp/7063.html

  4. Hi everyone - I'm hoping for a little guidance. Hopefully these aren't silly questions! :-)

When leaving Canada on a K1 Visa and moving to the US, who should I notify? Do I need to file a change of address with the Canadian government somewhere? Do I cancel my MSP? Should I have all of my current statements (i.e. student loans) sent to my new home in the US or can I continue to have them sent to my previous address in Canada (my parents' home).

Thanks for any help you can offer!

  5. Hello, fellow Canadians!

My name is Melissa and I'm new here. I am Canadian (Vancouver, BC) and my fiance is American (Washington State). Just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself as I'm sure I'll have many questions over the next months!

  6. Hi Everyone - I'm new here and we're just at the beginning of going through all of the K1 forms.

I am Canadian and my fiance is American.

My "permanent address" has always been my parents' address (my current home), even while away at University when I lived away from home at 8-month intervals while doing my degree. Should I include those temporary residences on my G-325A form, even though all of my government records (drivers' license, vehicle registration etc) indicate my permanent residence as always having been my parents' address?

    Thanks!

    Melissa
