What is it exactly you're trying to accomplish...?
My husband needs to fill out a W-4 form for our new employer( so they can with-hold the correct amount of taxes). I just want to fill out the form correctly. I am just really confused because the W-4 form requires you to fill out another form if you are a non-resident alien. This form (8233) is very confusing and I wanted to know if anyone has had to fill it out before. The first two lines inquire whom the "beneficiary owner" is and what is the "U.S tax payer identifying number is" and I dont know what these things are along with most of the rest of the form. I know this is only slightly related to the problems here at visa journey but I tried looking every where else online (and reading the 8233 instructions which is v confusing) with no luck so I was hoping someone knows about what I am going through. Hopefully you do? If not at, thanks for your help thus far!
If your husband hasn't received a green card or an EAD card, he should not be working at all.
What? He HAS AN EAD>> I never said he doesn't.... He has a ss# a Ead and is now just waiting for a green card......otherwise I wouldnt be in this mess, he would just stay unemployed....
Wonderful. Kindly update your timeline so others can easily figure this out in the future.
The taxpayer ID # is your husband's SSN. No idea what a benficial owner is. Ask the HR dept at your husband's employer. They should have this type of knowledge.
Okay that makes sense, thank you.

Not a resident until the PR/Green Card (AOS) is approved. Non-resident until then.
Thank you! Unfortunately I am still very lost, is there special forms that he needs to fill out? The 8233 form listed in the nonresident alien portion is very confusing and I really am at a loss as to what to fill out I dont understand who the "Beneficial owner" is supposed to be or where I get his tax identification number since neither one of us has worked in the USA before....Its so confusing has anyone done this before?

My main question from my last post is whether or not my husband is a resident or a non-resident. Please someone help!
-
My husband and I were just hired and I was trying to fill out his w4 form for our new employer but I am a bit stumped.
There is a short spot stating that Nonresident aliens must file a different : form 8233
My husbands still waiting for his green card so I dont know what he is considered... plus reading the form 8233 was even more confusing.
Has anyone gone through this and can tell me what forms i need to fill out?
Thanks in advance for your help

Hey, I'm Romanian also, my fiance is American. We've been together almost 4 years, now we're applying for K1.
Nice to meet you all!
Bine ati venit!!

I was trying to find out from our Embassy's website [bucharest, Romania] whether or not it is necessary to translate official documents [because i am finding conflicting opinions and experiences-no hard feelings ] And I read this:
Immigrant Visas
Fiancé(e) Visas
The fiancé(e) (K1) visa allows a foreign citizen to enter the United States in order to marry a U.S. citizen. After the marriage takes place, the applicant must apply to change status directly with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
To qualify for a K1 visa, the following criteria must be met:
* one party is a U.S. Citizen;
* both parties are legally free to marry; and
* both parties intend to marry within 90 days of the fiancé(e) entering the United States on the fiancé(e) visa.
For more information about fiancé(e) visas, please visit the Non-immigrant Visa for a Fiancé(e) page.
**** So which is it? Is it a immigrant visa or a non-immigrant visa?
I want to know because the "Non-immigrant visa for a fiance" page says that official translations are not required....but it doesnt say specifically Fiance visas, it just says Non-immigrant... you see my dilemma?
Sorry if this is a pain! Thanks for the help!

I was just remembering something I read about things being translated,,, is that true? What documents?

My mother requested a letter from her employer and they said everything that she works there and has been employed since ______ but they fail to mention her annual income....
I told my mother that I need one with her annual income but she said since we are attaching her w2 form that its not neccessary because it is on the w2...is this an issue or is she right?
If it was my choice I would get the letter fixed but its hard to lecture your mom, let alone give her orders/requests...
Thanks!
You want a tax return or tax transcript. The W2 is just one part of a tax return. Your mother is right, provide it's a complete tax return or transcript.
I am sorry to ask a dumb question but since I never had to file taxes yet, I dont really know what a tax return/transcript is or what it looks like.... Is that the form that you fill out to the IRS ? Please if you can elaborate so I can know whether she gave me the right papers...
Is the tax return from last year?

Im panicking now about my petition application, still no reply from uscis, its been 137 days since
i got the NOA1.Unlike other filers here they got theirs already and they waited shorter then me
even some filers here who files the same month as mine already got their NOA2.Should i start calling
uscis and find the status of my application?
I know its hard believe me I waited a long time. I didnt even have access to the online site. I dont know that calling will help but there is hope, my petition came in after about 137days of waiting. I hope you get yours soon! Best of luck,

Do you staple the copies of evidence like the w2 form to the affidavit of support or should I attach it in some other way? Paper clip?
Thanks!

I have a willing co-sponsor and I have filled out all his paperwork...Now I wanted to fill out my form and I came to this part:
7. I am employed as or engaged in the business of _____________________ with _____________ at______________________________
Since I am not employed what should I write there? None? N/A?
Then it asks about many other things including how much I have in my bank account; should I write how much I have even though what really matters is what my co-sponsor has? I only ask because i dont have much and I dont know if its better to write it down or not...
Sorry if this question has been asked before...
Thanks for your help!!

I was trying to find specific information on what happens next and I realized it might be different depending on which embassy you are from... I thought it better if I just post the question then continue my 30 minute search on the VJ...
1) I received our NOA2 and the a letter indicating that it was forwarded to Bucharest (YAY ) What will happen next?
2) I know my Fiance will receive some sort of packet, is there a way I can find out what will be in it??
3) I read some conflicting things, does the embassy schedule the interview or do you call in to make an appointment?
Thank you for your help!!

I wanted to complete our Affidavit of support asap, but as I was reading guides and previous discussion I read that its not a good idea to do it too far ahead of time... we just got our NOA2 and I also received a letter stating that our case has passed through the NVC and is on its way to Bucharest. Is it to early to put all the stuff together? SHould I wait untill I know the Interview date and then do it closer to that date?
Thank you for your advice!!!

I am so happy for you! Great time! Did you do anything special? I hope mine goes that fast!

I hope yours does too!! GOOD LUCK!
