You were right! I was out on Thursday night celebrating!

(And working all day yesterday so no time to write!)

I passed!

My experience was really good.

I arrived at Federal Plaza at 7:20 for 7:50 apt. I was nervous but calmed down when I aw all the others in the same position. I met really nice people there .

At about 8:50 I was ushered into a room with one other lady away from the main room and into one with lots of children and their parents.

I was wondering why I was there as I was the only one with no kids.

After about a half an hour there, out comes the guy who called my name. He brought me through an open plan office to his personal office in the back.

His title was "Adjudications Officer".

He was very serious. Put me under oath and then started off with tests, then went through all the application. He was extremely thorough. He was very familiar with my background and very professional.

At the end - he said "You passed" and was very nice to me - smiled etc..He had an Irish first name so I asked him if he had Irish roots and he said he didn't think so! I told him it was a great day for me and he said I could wait for my oath letter. I said when will the oath be and he said "maybe the end of the month".

That would have been too good to be true but yes! After waiting about three hours - I was given my letter with the date of December 22 at Federal Plaza.

I'm over the moon!

My interview letter has arrived (10/14) and my interview will take place at 26 Federal Plaza on DECEMBER 11th. If anyone would be kind enough to add that to the list - I'd really appreciate it!

As for me, I bet that in our little circle of July filers, I will be the last one who will get an Interview . Hartford office is 2nd in the country for being the slowest. A friend who filed in October of 2007 just had her interview this past Monday, September 29. But she was given the oath date after the interview, 2 weeks from interview date. So it is about 11 months after filing to get an interview and roughly 1 year from start to finish.

Count me in too as being the slowest. I'm in NY and have heard nothing since the FP appointment on August 25th! Would like to just have a date for the interview!

I changed my interview date font color to black since it was done.

This morning I went to Milwaukee downtown a little bit earilier, but when I got USCIS district office building, I couldn't find the parking space, so I spent 20 min to find the spot.

Then I left all my cellphone and other things in the car, and brought the bag of all the paperwork and evidence just in case.

I got into the building around 10:30am, and security guy made joke about that.

He said he put that bag in the kitchen, then table will be sunken.

So I said it is better to be prepared than to be heard sorry from interview officer.

When I went up to 2nd floor, there was around 7 teams.

Some people - one or two - came alone, but most of people came with family.

I dropped my interview appointment letter to drop box.

Then stopped by rest room and took some break.

It seemed that in most case, it was done in 10~20 min.

Around 11:03am, interview officer called my last name, so I stood up, and walked into the door.

When I got into the room, interview officer asked to swear usual thing.

"Tell the truth, and nothing but the truth... "

So I said, "Yes, I do".

Then he sat down, and asked me for driver license, green card, and passport.

So I passed mine.

When I sent the N400, I just checked N400 instructions, not M-476.

So what I sent was N400 form plus additional explanation for traffic ticket, and personal check for processing fee.

But he didn't care about it, and he started to ask Civic questions.

I got following questions.

- What do the starts on the flag mean?

- How many states are there in the Union?

- Who was the first president of the United States?

- Who is the Vice President of the United States today?

- How many Senators are there in Congress?

- What is the United States Capital?

Then he stopped the Civic questions, and asked me to write down what he is saying.

"She cooks for her friend!"

I asked whether it is friends or friend.

Then he wrote down following statements, and asked me to read it.

"I go to work every day."

Then he checked my IDs, and asked the questions from N400.

My name

My address

My DOB

My phone number

Then asked whether I would like to change my name.

I asked whether it delays the processing or not.

He said it doesn't, so I said I will change my name since everybody has trouble to pronounce my name correctly.

Then he asked me how many I have been married, so I gave the answer.

Then he asked my current wife name.

After this, he asked me for divorce decree and marriage certificate, so I gave certified divorce decree and copy pf marriage certificate.

He didn't care whether it is certified or not.

Then he asked me for current employer, and when my last trip was.

Then he asked the question for my membership and terrist things.

When he asked for citation, I mentioned that I only had traffic tickets.

He asked whether I have any DUI or alcohol related one.

I said no.

Then he confirmed for oath information.

Finally he asked to sign the N400 and other form.

After this, he asked me for photo, so I passed the passport photo since I didn't include it from application.

Also I passed the copy of my green card, and he said if you have copy, I will take it. ^^

Then he got a phone call from co-worker, and it seems that I'm the last person for his morning session.

I guess he was hungry, and wanted to finish morning session ASAP.

He gave me the paper saying I was passed and recommended for approval.

But because next month oath ceremony was already filled, I have to wait for next one.

So he said I will receive oath letter within 4 months.

When I got out from the room, the clock said 11:13am.

He must be very hungry to finish my interview ASAP, so he can go for lunch.

Or he saw my bag, which was full of documentation and evidence, and didn't want to bother with those.

He didn't even go through all the question from N400.

I think actual interview was done in 5 min.

another 5 min was spent for talking over the phone with his co-worker. ^^

Hi guys -

I went to Varick Street today in NYC to get my fingerprints done. I was searched on the way in by the guy with the gun!

I was surprised at how few people were actually there - only about ten in total including one guy with no ID - poor guy couldn't speak English and was trying to use his birth certificate from South Korea.

Anyway - I was number 278 - got called after about 20 mins. The guy barely spoke to me - just took my prints on the computer - full hand first and then all ten prints individually. The process was over in ten minutes. I got the feeling that it's a serious business!

Now the waiting begins! I don't expect there will be any news until at least Christmas seeing as I am dealing with NYC DO and Vermont.

My NOA1 said "Expect interview within 540 days!!" I've read that other service centers say 180 or 240.......

I'm really disappointed as I recieved NOA 1 letter today and it says time to interview is 540 days !

Anybody know if it could be really that long......I am in NY and mailed to Vermont.

I see other people get letters saying 180 days here on the boards !

Hi Everyone. I just started the N400 process.

Do you think some cases are more clear cut than others?

I am single and from Ireland and have had a greencard for five years as of 06/22/08 (DV Lottery).

Do you think I would be a very straightforward case?

(I am hoping that I am a shoo-in!!)

Also I would appreciate if someone could tell me the average time for Vermont. I live in NYC. On the phone - they told me 10 months but I notice some people seem to have the process over and done with a lot quicker?
