  1. I was filling out my wife's and son's I-485. I discovered that the name on the I-94 differs from the K2 visa of the son. His given name is Yang and the Family name is Li. On the I-94 this is turned around. The I-485, part 3, section A asks for you to give your name as it appears on the I-94. So if I tell them how it appears in the form I am really telling them the wrong name. Does anyone have any advice as to how to deal with this? I am sure this isn't the first time that the USCIS has run into family name being switched with a given name.

    Thanks, Timbo

  2. It seems that I misunderstood the fundumentals of how Chinese names are laid out in Pin Yin. Coupled with the fact that my fiancee's son has the first name Yang, which happens to be my fiancee's surname. So I was also confused. At anyrate I sent out the I-129F with the mixed up names. It now approved. My I-797C show my fiancee's middle name as her first name. All our documents should be at the NVC later this week. How do I rectify this problem. I talked to my fiancee about it and she was told by people from the website she uses, that all I need to do is send an email or fax to the consulate in Guangzhou explain what happened, then when she gets packet #3 she fills it in with all the correct information. She was told that it was no big deal because they have all the notarized documents. Is this right? Can someone help me out?

  3. I know that this topic has been covered more than once, but I have a small related question. I know that when we assemble the I-129F package we should punch two holes in each document and use ACCO-type fasteners. Also I see that we should not use binders or folders and if you use tabs place them at the bottom of the pages. What I was wondering was which documents do you fasten together. Do we make one big pile that is fastened together or a "Petitioner" pile and a "Beneficiary" pile? I know this seems like a little thing, but I just don't want to ruffle anyone's feathers, if you know what mean?

  4. Hi, This is my first time here. So I am a little nervous about all of this, but I am also thankful that there is someplace to turn to with questions and concerns. I am getting ready to file my I-129F. I have a question concerning my fiancee's address. Now I understand that on the I-129F we can use her postal box address and on the G-325A we should provide her place of physical residence. However this seems to be a sticking point. She is currently living with her parents in Liuzhou, so her son may attend a better school. But she tells me that her true home is in a different city(Guilin)and that her household registry is in that city also. She has given me the addresses to both places but I feel that I should put down the Liuzhou address since that is where she is really living. Will it make a differance? It seems that the Chinese govenment sees her as living in Guilin. Any kind of direction in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'd choose the address where she can most reliably receive mail. It does not need to be her houshold book's registered address.

Thanks, that seems to make perfect sense.
