hi there,
i've been looking at different timelines of VJ members and i've noticed some just received their GC without interview. Im just wondering who are qualified under this section and who are those who still needs to be interviewed for their AOS application.
I arrived here under K3 visa and i applied for AOS. I already got my EAD and just waiting for status for my AOS. Anybody had the same case as mine and got their GC already? If yes, did you undergo an interview with your USC husband or you just got your GC on the mail?
I'm not sure but I noticed the ones who had to attend an interview came in with K1 visa..does a K3 visa holder adjusting for status still needs an interview?
Hope somebody can answer to my inquiry. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Just want to know if anybody did their biometrics in Alexandria, Virginia ASC? And if they accept walk ins?
I'm scheduled for my 2nd Biometrics there this thursday, but was thinking of doing a walk in tom..not sure though if they accept walk ins. I did my first biometrics there last month as per the schedule they gave me.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Got my EAD card in the mail today...im sooo happy!
Thanks guys!
EAD down...AOS to go!
-
Really?!?! Nice!!!! That's good news!! Thanks =)
Yes, you can count on getting your EAD card very shortly. -
I just got an email from CRIS saying "we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I765 Application for EAD. Please follow any instructions on the notice"
Are they mailing the EAD card already or just a notice?!
I've received a couple of emails earlier saying they have order production of my card, so im assuming they are mailing the card already?
Anybody got similar emials?!
Thanks!

As expected, i got a new ASC appointment notice for my biometrics dated July 31, 2009:
THE FBI WAS UNABLE TO PROCESS YOUR FINGERPRINT CARD. IN ORDER FOR THE USCIS TO CONTINUE PROCESSING YOUR APPLICATION, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO HAVE YOUR FINGERPRINTS RE-TAKEN. THIS WILL BE COMPLETED AT NO ADDITIONAL EXPENSE TO YOU.
My second biometrics schedule will be on August 20 at 3pm. well, im expecting for it to be rejected again that's why we're already looking at how to obtain a police clearance in our area.
It's a good thing this is just for my AOS and didn't affect my EAD. My EAD was already approved last July 31.

really that long?! but i noticed in your timeline that you got your EAD card before receiving your 2nd biometrics appt letter...so they approved your EAD and yet you had to take a 2nd biometrics? i thought they needed the biometrics for the processing of whatever application we submitted.
I had the same problem, it took almost 1 month to receive the second biometrics appointment letterI also have thin fingers, but I never knew that was the reason why my fingerprints could not be read. I asked the Officer the second time I went and he told me that it was probably a problem with their system, rather than a problem with me. But who knows..
Good luck on getting your second appointment soon!

Hi there!
I had my biometrics this morning, and as expected, they had a hard time with my fingers..too thin to see any lines!!!
( I had the same problem when i had it back in the US embassy in our country when i applied for my tourist and k3 visa--they had to put some explainations/notations for it to be accepted, so i can proceed. )
The guy who assisted me said I might receive a notice to go back for the 2nd time to do it all over again, if they reject the one i had earlier--(THEY meaning USCIS..NBI? i dont know). And if they reject the 2nd one again, I might need to submit a police clearance.
Im ok with going back and taking it again, and/or providing them with a police clearance if thats what it takes for my application to move on. The only thing i hate about it is, it will definitely delay the processing of my application ( AOS and EAD) .
I just want to know if anyone experienced the same scenario, and if ever, how long did it take to receive the notice for the 2nd biometrics..days? weeks? after the first biometrics schedule?
Thanks in advance.

yes, you need those vaccines that you didnt get from the philippines..
Hi VJers,I only got 2 vaccines shots in the Philippines because the rest of the vaccines were not age appropriate for me and the other one i didn't have it because of insufficient time interval, according to the vaccine sheet that I got from Saint Luke. Now my question is, this will qualify me to have this vaccination sheet be transcribed by a doctor here or do i need to be vaccinated with that other vaccine that I didn't have in the Philippines because of insufficient time?
My second question is, is it true that AOS application don't have certain time limit to file it?
Please let me know guys. I'll appreciate it very much.

for her medical, it is still valid for 1 year but she still has to submit form I-693..fill out the info part, visit a civil surgeon (accredited by USCIS ) for additional vaccinations and for him to sign the form..the surgeon will give you a sealed envelope of the signed I-693 form..
for I-485, its letter A...just attach a copy of the NOA2 of your I-130 application.
Hello all,I had two questions please if someone can advise I will be greatful.
question one is my wife is here on a K3 visa and she has an approved I-130, we are applying for the AOS(Perminent Resident)does she have to do her medicial examination again because she had already got that dont before coming to the states thats how she got her k3 visa, so does she have to get the medicial examination done again ?
my second question was in the form I-485, the part two which lettter would my wife fall under there's an a-j option which letter should I choose??.
Please let me know so i can go ahead with this application, will wait for a reply.
Thanks in Advance,
Tom

I just got a new notice in the mail today for my new biometrics appointment schedule..it will be on july 22 at 10am (originally july 8 at 8am ) --they delayed it for 2 weeks..oh well..atleast i know now when it will be and dont have to worry about it...
-
i was also able to call the customer service and inquired about the cancellation notice i receivied ( my biometrics schedule is july 8, 2009 )..they said that it is a cancellation notice of the original schedule for biometrics and it doesn't mean that i don't need to have my biometrics at all anymore...i should be expecting another notice within the next 30 DAYS for my rescheduled appointment. the worst part of this all is that becuase of this rescheduling, it will delay the processing of our papers!
should i take her word for it or should i still go on the 8th just to be sure?! what do you guys think?!
This is odd indeed - the 8th is a Wednesday - can't imagine something going on all across the country - maybe they're planning some sort of system update. As recommended above - I would call - and/or go to the ASC maybe Mon/Tue (since most ASC's accept walk-ins). Obviously they aren't canceling the need for biometrics so may as well try and get it out of the way.
Be interested in hearing reports from those who have called the 800#.
I just called. I got the same notice, on a Saturday and freaked out. After several minutes with the automated guy, trying to discern the trick to speaking to a human (it's to ask for forms to be sent to you btw), I got through to an operator.
I explained the situation, which is. I filed my application, and got a notice of receipt. Then, about a week later, I got a notice that said "Appointment cancelled, no need to appear at ASC". Below it read, please appear at the ASC office on August something, at 8am.... He said it was a cancellation for the original notice. I said, this IS the original notice. I asked if there was anyway to see WHY the appointment had been cancelled, and there is wasn't. He just said I should sit tight and wait for rescheduling.
I (on my own) have concluded the scheduling notice for my cancelled appointment is probably en route. I think I may try and "show up" like other people seem to be planning on. I also agree with those who said that the operators are either uniformed or uninterested.

hi everyone,
i got the same notice today(sat)..my biometrics is scheduled on july 8 too...i think there's something going on on that date?!
will try to call on monday, but if we dont get any news i think we are still going on our scheduled date and time just to be sure...

hi,
im applying for my AOS and EAD and got an ASC appointment notice last week for my biometrics schedule to be on july 8..just today, i got another ASC appointment notice saying that my appointment has been cancelled...and it also says that i dont need to appear at the ASC anymore for my biometrics..it didn't say the reason why..has anyone experienced this?! and what do you think is the reason for this?
they gave a 1-800 number but customer service are only available during weekdays...
hope anyone can give me feedback on this one..thanks

hey thanks for the replies!
i tried to convince my husband to proceed with the CR1- but he doesn't want to risk waiting a couple of months anymore..and just wanted to pay for the application for change of status instead. i guess he misses me that much for him to pay for a new application..haha! and besides, i don't plan to work as soon as i get there..so i guess i agree with his decision..
hi,i have a question on item #36, " has anyone filed an immigrant visa on your behalf"...my husband filled for the I-130 but we didnt push through with this and opted for the K3 visa instead..so does this mean i will answer no?!
thanks for your help in advance
Answer is YES! To bad you guys went for the K3!!!
Sorry but you blew it. I did also tho. CR-1 is a MUCH MUCH better visa now.
It's not to late to go with the I-130 [CR-1]. You'll be happy you did so in the long run!

marvilovesgeorge : i see you are from the philippines also, are you done with your interview? how long does it take from receipt of NOA2 to have schedule for interview? we just want to know more or less the timeframe, as compared to he k3 if ever.
thanks again:)
hi,we just got approval of both our I130 and I129F ( CR1 & K3). i just want to know what's the best thing to do. Proceed with the k3 so i can be in the US faster and just do the change of status there? or proceed with the CR1 and just wait for it here in Manila.
and if we choose to just proceed with 1 ( k3 or cr1) what will we do with the other one? just ignore it?
please help.
thank you
CR1 is the way to go. The processing times for both the K3 and CR1 are the same. With the CR1 you don't have to do any adjustments once you are in the US and you get your SS# and GC a few weeks after you arrive.
As far as the K3, yes, just ignore it.
Good Luck!
BTW, i had the same dilemma and went with the CR1.
I agree. USCIS even told us we made the right choice by dropping the K3

hi, thanks for the reply..
but what if i choose k3 becuase its faster, should i just ignore cr1? or if i choose cr1 i will just ignore k3?
thanks again

K-3 is faster than the CR-1 for about 2 months but if you do CR-1, CR-1 is less money than K-3 and you will not have to do the adjustment of status and you will receive the green card and SSN few weeks after you enter US. You will be able to work right away and not have to deal with the waiting time for adjustment of status.
Here is the fast process at NVC if you wish to do CR-1

INTERVIEW TIP
in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas
Posted
Hi everyone!
Just a tip that might be helpful on your interview.
Last tuesday, Sept. 29, I had my interview for my greencard together with my husband. The first thing the officer told me was my medical files were incomplete. In the I-693 form that we submitted, only the vaccination portion were filed out and the other physical exam were blank. Which was what we really did becuase it was said in the instructions that if you had your medical exam abroad within the last 1 year it was still valid. I had my full medical exam back in manila last april for my k3 and thats the reason why we didn't do the whole physical exam again here when we filed for AOS. My husband pointed this out and told the officer that I had my medical already back in manila and the files should be in the packet I gave to immigration when I entered here last May. The officer was so insistent that the files were not there with him, and even told us that he can't process my green card with an incomplete medical. But my husband was still arguing with him that the whole packet that the immigration should have delivered to them should contain the files from St. Lukes Medical. We didn't receive any RFE prior to our interview. The officer checked on the folder he was holding on to and found it. Tsk Tsk Tsk..he didn't check all the files in that folder before he started to interview us. After that he didn't ask further questions and just stamped APPROVED! Nice!
We should really be familiar with all these things, read carefully all instructions in all the forms, all the NOAs they send. It is very important for us to be knowledgeable about this and just not show them that we don't know anything and just follow in whatever they say.
Hope this could help you in your future interview! Goodluck to all!
