  1. How did you sole it? I really hope things going your way wity passport and tickets.

It worked out just fine. The biggest hazzle was to get the airline people to let me on the plane in Stockholm to go back to the U.S. They had to check and recheck with their managers that it was fine (it's a new flight so they are probably not that experienced yet).

No problems in immigrations. I just showed my passport, green card and the certified copy of the marriage certificate and was welcomed back home. It was a breeze.

Thanks for sharing your exprience. I am plannig to visit soon and your story was certainly helpful.

  2. Hello Vjers,

I thought the journey was over momentarily, but new problem occurred.

I have received my green card few weeks ago and I havne't realized it came out with my maiden name where it supposed to be

issued with my new last name( my spouse's last name) since that is what we applied. Should I reapply my I-485 process? If not, how long it is going to take fixing it? Has anyone had similar situation? Any answer will be appreciated. Thanks.

  4. I agree, report her to the state BAR if she doesn't satisfactorily reslolve your issues. Make sure you have copies of all emails, letters, bills etc. Document all errors she made. Clearly explain your point of view to her. If you are not satisfied, then file a complaint. There are many lawyers out there who operate like this one and only a small number of good ones.

ok, i got another reply from this person bugged me "do you need ap now? i don't think you need to fix it" what kind of answer is that? What if there is an emergency happen and have to travel. Too many issues but I will drop it now. by the way, ty for the comment.

  5. Hello Vjers,

Thoughout this immigration journey, the lawyer caused nothing but a headache. simply put this person doesn't seem to know what she is doing and has no clue about immigration. This person doesn't know when our I-130 was approved means that she doesnt even check the client's case and haven't informed us CR-1 is better and faster option than K-3 in our case. But more recently she proved why she is disqualified and failed for her job with her email. our ap has been issued and theres an error in it. And she hasn't even notice it until we found out and call her. then she threw this one email, call the 1-800 number(which wasn't even an full 1-800 375 5283, actually said 1-800 number). Today my anger finally burst out when she replied "I don't understand what is the stress?????" Right.. my aos is pending my ap is messed and you do not understand what is the stress. you do nothing but sit there eating up my time and money.. we have to be the one finding out all the info and we have to be the one who fix. then what is the need of the lawyer really?> Communication was always delayed. No she was not only unhelpful, but also failed accounting of her lack of professionalism. We could've done this more earlier and efficiently without this person. sorry folks that I maybe sound too much of rage cause I am beyond my anger or whatever but I just want to get what i paid for. Now can someone tell me how to sue this person, or any comment will be appreciated.

Oh, sorry to hear about that.....Just remember....."what goes around, comes around" God will take care of these kinds of crooks.

    Hope for the best....God bless....

Thank you. I'll remember it. God bless to your family too.

Thanks for the fast reply. sure we have no option but finishing oourselves.

Actually, you do have options - you can leave it with this lawyer or you can get a new lawyer. The best option, however, is finishing it yourselves. Many of us have successfully pursued this process on our own without a lawyer. Even with a good lawyer, you end up doing the majority of the legwork yourself.

I'd rather deal with everything by myself from now. we've learned the hard lesson. Thanks for the reply.

This is the kind of sad stories that others have to tell about hiring a lawyer to help them in the immigration process. Best to take back the stuff and finish it yourself....try to get a refund and if not, report the situation to your state's bar or whatever agency regulates lawyers.

Thanks for the fast reply. sure we have no option but finishing oourselves.

  8. I am curious is anyone had a similar experience. We filed for AOS in mid April, then had biometrics early May, and interview date was July 21. We are still waiting to hear anything after the interview. It does not look like they have even touched our case yet and that does not make sense to me. The interview I thought was surprisingly early. I expected it to be a few months later. Since it seemed early, I also thought that we would have her GC by now too.

Also, is it normal for the I-94 to be left in the passport? The officer said everything looked good and that she left it in there because it is not yet expired.

    Hi ohioindian,

I guess your case is the same as us. As being K-3 holder, filed at the very end of april and interview date was ridiculously early, but since then we haven't heard anything updated. Speaking of I-94, the officer took it during the interview while it was not even close to the expiration date. Any thought?

When the officer took the I-94, did he or she say anything? Our officer was about to take it out, but said that she would leave it in since it is not expired. I don't know why they scheduled the interview so early, but it does make sense as to why not to remove the I-94. Without it, leaving and then re-entering the US can be problematic. If one was going to get the GC very soon, then it would not matter. We did not apply for AP since it is not needed for K3. If you applied for AP and received it, then perhaps that is why the officer removed it. Usually, when they remove the I-94 it is a good thing.

    hi again

Yes... although we are k3 holder, we still applied for AP and like you said, maybe that is the reason. Funny thing was they mistyped DOB on AP. Anyway best luck to you.

  9. We're in the exact same boat. No change. Waiting for files to be combined when we only should have one on file.

They took my I-94 too but from what i hear that's just what they do.

    Hi AAFenton,

Thanks for the reply. I understand each case is unique and glad to hear someone else exactly in a same shoe. Did they also take your EAD? mine didn't.

    Hi

At my AOS interview my I-94 replacement card was taken but it wasnt like it would have done me any good as it been expired 10yrs at the time of interview. Oh and I wasn't approved till 2yrs later.

That is "ouch". At that moment, what did they give you? they provided you a piece of white sheet checked with background check or any other?

  11. My GC approval was deferred until the two parts of my file were combined. The part that came from TSC (with the K-1 visa info in it) had yet to be reconciled into my file at the district office. This may be the case for you as well.

If you don't hear anything for 60 days, make an INFOPASS and go straight to your district office for answers!

My laywer said the exact same still I don't quite understand why they combine those two..oh well..once again I just hope this is done soon..

  12. weird..idid she give any indication of what was missing? We also had a similar situation where we had a previous I-130 that the officer wanted to check out and she had to request it from some office. We were told to inquire in 120 days if no news was received. We had a letter and it had 4 checkboxes and the officer checked off the one that said "more papers need to be reviewed."

Hopefully you will hear something soon esp since you have the 60 days window!

    Best of luck...

Thank you. I just hope this is done soon too...

  13. Hello,

I had an green card interview today and and it went through very smoothly.

The officer didn't ask much and said everything seemed working in order. At the end of interview, though,

the officer said there was one document missing at hand and handed a paper with following message:

Your case is held for file review in order to prepare a decision. You will be advised by mail as to a decition on your application. No additiona information is necessary from you at this time, however, if upon further review, additional information or evidence is required, you will revieve a notice in the mail. Please respond to any requests in a timely manner. Failure to do so will result in denial of your application. Please allow 60 days from today's date before making an inquiry on your case.

Does any one know what this exactly means, or has similar experience?
