  1. For those who had their Canadian Passport photos taken in the US, where did you go to have yours taken?

Any tips, i plan to print out the specifications but would appreciate any tips anyone had to minimize my chances of it being rejected due to bad photos.

    Thanks in advance

  2. Thanks for the info, I will apply for one asap.

When I crossed the border it was by car and I showed my birth certificate and drivers license, which is all I have ever had to give while crossing. I did come prior to july 2009 so before the new rules were in place. I hadn't crossed back since because we have been in the AOS process.

I was originally going to file for one but was uncomfortable doing so while in AOS process since I would have to mail my actual birth certificate to do so and didn't want to run the chance of something going wrong.

I wasn't given much problems at all about not having a passport, they asked if i had one at biometrics and i said i didn't and showed them my ID's and they did the biometrics and didn't seem bothered. My biometrics didn't even mention that I needed to have it, when i filed the paperwork nothing said it was a requirement. Had no idea it could have caused me a lot of problems.

The AOS interview they asked for my passport but I said I didn't have one and have never had one and they didn't seem concerned by that, he looked at my expired dl, birth certificate and other ID's that I had.

I guess i should consider myself lucky that it didn't complicate things because the whole process was so stressful I'm glad it wasn't any worse than that.

  3. I am using my husbands account to post. I am the Canadian, married to the American. I came to the USA as a visitor and we ended up getting married and applying for AOS. We had our interview and the green card is on its way.

I do not have a passport, I never had one and at the time I came here to visit we didn't need one to cross the boarder.

Do I need to get one now to visit canada?

Will getting one affect any of my immigration, will i need to notify them that i have gotten a passport, since at the time i applied and got my green card I didn't have a passport?

How do i get one? I need a canadian passport is that right?

I'm not sure how to apply for one while in the USA and have a guaranter sign things verifying that its me when I haven't known anyone in the USA for two years and the canadians i know are in canada.

    Thanks for the help

  4. Wow!! :o You got your letter to say interview in 2 days, or you just didn't get an email to say one was scheduled? How long did you get the letter to the interview date? I'm suspecting we'll end up with an interview too. Tim's been trying to get my name on his bills, and who ever he talks with STILL has no idea and his bills don't have mine on it! I don't know about you, but I can't even get my name on his account without a State ID, and I can't get one of those without proving domicle!!smiley-angry046.gif Oh well, we'll get there yet.

Best wishes for your interview, hope you post a review.

Good news about your EAD/AP Michael + Tracie! I can't wait for my EAD.....1sm137waiting.gif

We never got an email or an update online for the interview. To give you an idea of the timeline, we filed oct 1st, had biometrics 10/29, received card production order update 11/20, received card about a week later and the interview notice came about 11/30, scheduled for jan 6th. But i have had very little updates on my cases online from them, it didn't even say i had a touch from oct 7th till dec 31 for i-130 and i-485.

We have had the same problems, needing state ID, even with the mililtary dependant ID. Hopefully it'll be over smooth and quick for all of us!

  5. TimandJoyce just wanted to let you know, we have the charleston SC local office too and don't be surprised if you get things in the mail without an update online. We have our appointment notice for AOS and they have yet to update that online but have 'touched' it since than, interview in 2 days!

  6. We have our upcoming AOS interview, and we have some questions about it.

My wife came here from Canada, as a visitor, we had no intention of marrying at the time. Long story short, we ended up getting married about 3 months later in the USA, and filed our i-130 and i-485.

Ive read some people took their ssn to the interview, my wife doesn't have an ssn is that fine? Does she need one or how does she end up getting one. She has her EAD card, but we never got her SSN from it because we just got it recently, we don't have time to get her SSN before the interview.

What all should i bring with to the interview, originals of everythign we have submitted, id's, photos, bank statements, lease agreements. Is there anything else?

The only forms we filed were the i-485 and what went with it, medical etc. the i-130, the i-765.

I read somehwere to bring a form DS-230, but we didnt do one. Is that for something else completly different or should i print that out.

    Anything else I should know?

    Interview is in south carolina.

  8. Well we finally got our package sent out for the i-485, i-130, and i-765, we sent it out in october. Wife recieved her biometrics notice a couple weeks later and we did the biometrics the end of Oct. Last week recieved the notice for interview schedualed for January, no RFE so far. Today recieved notice that EAD card is on its way!

It's been going much faster than we ever thought.

I will update the timeline when i figure out how.

What does everyone wear for their interview?

Whats the odds we get an RFE at this point?

  9. My wife had her medical exam back in may, she was 26, turning 27 at the end of may. She was required to get the HPV vaccine because she was 26 years old, and the vaccine is required for ages 11-26. She turned 27 at the end of the month and no longer falls into the age requirement. I am in the military so we used the military hospital for her vaccines and fax them to our civil surgeon which was recommended from the dr to save us money. The military hospital does not want to vaccinate her for hpv now that she is 27.

She called her civil surgeon whoa agreed she is no longer of the age requirement, but mentioned that some people had been sent back even though they weren't in the age requirement for the vaccine. Since the form is already sent she told us to wait and see what happens.

We would like to be prepared. Has anyone else been in this situation, what do you think will happen. Will she get an RFE for the vaccines or would it get brought up at hte interview, or do you think they will realize she is not in the agegroup anymore and not bother with it?

  10. My wife is a canadian, came over here to visit with no intention to marry, she has come across the border but was not given an I94, inplace of that we filed with an affidavit notarized stating when we crossed the border, where we crossed that, and that they do not issue i94s there or did not at the time. will this be enough?

Also she had been arrested 9 years ago (not a young offender), with theft under 5000, the minimum charge for theft in canada, she recieved diversion and no plea was entered. We obtained the court documents stating she recieved diversion, however can not obtain proof that she completed diversion program other than what it states on the court documents, its simply not given in canada. We have written an affidivit, notarized, stating such. will she get an RFE for this?

Medical exam., she was 26 at the time of the exam, which we had done at the begining of may, she turned 27 at the end of may. She recieved the first set of vaccines for her HPV, however she is now 27 years old and does not need the HPV vaccine and is reccommended not to get it. Will she need to complete these vaccines or provide a new statement from her civil surgeon, or is this something uscis will realize and leave alone?

  11. When submitting the biographical forms G-325A...what do you check for "This form is submitted in connection with an application for"... should it be 'Status as permenant resident' for the beneficiary (wife) and 'Other, specify I-130' for the sponser (myself)? thanks

Status as PR and I-130 will be just fine.

I clicked 'Other' and wrote I-130

  13. I was wondering which box we need to check in I-485 Part 2. My wife is here with me, she came over as a visitor with inspection, but not signing the book. We were not engaged so there is not a K1 visa, so I know it's not 'C'. No asylum so not 'D'. Not Cuban so not 'E' or 'F', and not 'G'. We have not been approved anything yet, so I also assume not 'A'. Now, that leaves 'B' and 'H'. Does the spouse application of adjustment of status refer to a immigrant spouse? I am a citizen, so would this be incorrect? If so, that leaves 'G', other basis. What would that basis be? thanks

    Read "A" more carefully

I'm reading about relative petition...what is that? I-130?
