similar thing happened to me

i submitted ds-230 with other required docs and was delivered on may 3rd.,

i got an email-check list letter- saying that they are still waiting for the ds-230 on may 8th.

called them on 10th, talked to operator and was told that on initial review, my package didnt have ds-230-which was not true. and he said he will leave a note so it will be reviewed.-will take 10~15days...

on avr couple of days later said that they got the check list letter response.

and today i talked to operator and she told me they have ds-230 but said police certificate is missing.

i told her it must be there in the package., then she told me maybe there is something wrong with document and is not acceptable...which makes no sense to me- it came straight from the national police agency.

she said they will review it and it will take about 10 ~15 days...

anyway, it has been very frustrating...obviously they do not do a decent job of reviewing documents..

i am about to send in ds-230 package. but a police certificate came in a sealed enveloped and my wife were told not to break the seal..

do i still need to make a copy of it? or can i just send it as it is without a copy?

Hi,

I just got an email from nvc saying that i need to fill out I-864, but since I am a full time student and has no income, I used my sister as sponsor for my spouse. so my sister filled out i=864 with her w-2 for past 3 years..

Do i have to fill out i-864 even though i have no income and didnt file tax return.

You will only need to submit the first marriage certificate, the one that says you're married, which in your case is the one you got in the US, that's all the USCIS or NVC will care about.

well, I have only one now, one from US, but we haven't filed our marriage license in my wife's country yet. and i think my wife's country also issue marriage certificate (sort of) although in very different form.

so I guess to rephrase my question, do we need to file marriage license in my wife's country before we submit ds 230, or is it even necessary for the whole visa processing?

I translated my wife's birth certificate and didn't have my signature notorized. I just made and signed a form that said I was competent to translate. No RFE for that and we filed in August.
If your wife's medical in her home country is less that 1 year old, you don't need a new medical, you just need the vaccination supplement. If you want, you can do the medical after you file. The catch is you'll get an RFE for it and everything will be on hold until it is done.

will having RFE affect the application in any negative way besides delaying the process?

hi,

are translated documents needed to be notorized?

i need to submit translated birth certificate (family registry for my wife, she has no birth certificate) as a part of application. and i am wondering if the translated one has to be notorized., and if it is can it be notorized by any public notary or does it have to be done by consulate?

also for i-485, she needs to get medical examination done, but it seems like she wont have it until mid oct.,

i was wondering if she can get the medical examination after we send in our application,

her i-94 expires 10/12, and we are trying to send in by first week of october.

Hi,

I am filling out I-130, I-485 along with EAD for my wife., and having a difficult time understanding the categories for EAD.

My wife is in the states now, she is japanese and is on visa waiver (came in as a visitor). Which category does apply for her?

and is it true that i-485 fee also includes the fee for ead?

thanks awaterlily,

i just had my interview, and i passed those tests, and i was given a paper that says that says that i passed the test and my application is recommended for approval. actually that paper has all other options written on it like not passing the test so it is kinda confusion but i was told that i passed, and i ll be receiving my oath ceremony later. but i was not given the oath date today, and it seems like everyone else got the date on the same day, ..hmm..now i am kinda worried...

Hi

I just moved from CA to St Louis MO. Because i ll only be here for school (4 yrs), my legal state of residence will be still CA.

But I would like to apply for N400 here (NE center). I know that I need to live here for 3 month prior to applying for N400.

I already filed AR-11. What else do I need to prove that I am living in St Louis, MO?

Do I need to register my car here and get MO license?

I would like to avoid doing anything unnecessary to minimize cost. (living on a very tight budget).

Nope, you'll be denied.

There's a requirement of "time in district", as Staashi pointed out. You've got to meet this requirement at the time you file, and you've got to continue meeting it at your interview and oath ceremony. If you change your residence to St. Louis, you'll have to wait until you've lived in the St. Louis district the required time, and then file the N-400.

Hi,
I am currently a CA resident, but I ll be moving to St. Louis next month ( going to school there ).

So my state of resident will still be CA.

Now where do I send my application (N-400)? to CA center or NE center. I would like to file this application ASAP.

and another question is does St. Louis hold interviews for citizenship and oath ceremony in St. Louis or do I have to travel to other cities?

In this case, I would recommend to send N400 application to CA.

Since your legal residence is still be CA, it is much better to stick with CA, so you don't have a problem to prepare for proof of residence such as utility bills and others.

But when it comes down to Fingerprint, Interview, and Oath ceremony, you have to make travel arrangement when you are in St. Louis.

Another consideration you can have is to move legal residence to St. Louis if St. Louis DO process the case much faster than CA local DO.

In that case, you can change your legal residence to St. Louis then wait for a month or two, then send N400 application to NSC.

When interview officer look at the case, you can meet 3 month residence, and make trip for Fingerprint, Interview, and Oath ceremony locally. But this will make some hard time to get your insurace and other things for legal residence change.

Unless St. Louis DO processing speed is much faster than CA something like 5 month or longer difference,

if I were you, I will stick to CA because current legal residence is CA, and you don't have to wait for another 3 months to meet local residence rule.

It will be difficult to change my legal residence nor do I want to make that change.

Do I must be legally MO resident to file my application at NE center? or just living in St Louis for 3 month suffice the requirement?

neither changing legal residence nor making trips to do fingerprints, interview, and oath seem desirable to me.
