  1. So my husband's niece wants to visit the United States with her new husband for Easter. All involved are Albanian by birth (except me!). Niece and husband live in London and she has an Italian passport (since she lived there for over 20 years) and new husband has an Albanian passport with a work visa for the UK. I just did the visas for my in-laws and I only had to fill out DS-160s for them on the internet and they got their visas quickly from Albania (I understand their ties are strong since they own their own home and are in their 70's and 80's). My husband's sister (my sister-in-law) says I need to fill out a I-134 (affidavit of support) for the new husband to come over. I didn't do this for my in-laws and I really don't want my social security number floating around on some random paperwork.

Shouldn't he apply for a non-immigrant visa via an DS-160 first then see if they ask for an affidavit of support? Would someone need it before they applied for a visa?  I'm confused about when the affidavit of support comes into play.

    Thank you!

  2. Ah cool, that's not far at all! There are a number of American/Russian couples and American/Ukraine couples in this area that I know. We'll all have to arrange a get together sometime soon.

Thanks for the info Kathryn! My husband and I have been thinking of moving to my hometown in Fayette county and I always wondered if there would be others... NYC is full of them but GA is a different story.

  3. Hello VJ Friends,

First and foremost, thank you to all of the VJ members for sharing your valuable insight and depth of knowledge. I have successfully managed to get my Fiance (beneficiary) all the way through his interview simply by reading the guides and stalking the forums for months and months. With that being said, I am unfamiliar with how to post in the country specific portal, so MOD's please move at your discretion.

My Fiance had his K-1 Visa interview a few hours ago at the Tirana, Albania Embassy. Per the Packet 3 instructions, everything (forms, birth cert, police certs, tax transcripts, proof of relationship, pictures, boarding passes, passport stamps, Facebook and Skype chats, Letter of Intent, etc.) was sent and checked by the Embassy before an interview was scheduled. We both felt fairly confident that we would not be issued a 221(g) for missing documents since the Embassy already acknowledged that they were completed and scheduled our interview (this is an Albania specific procedure).

My Fiance said the interview went well and was quick. His English is very good so the interview was conducted in English. The CO mentioned that we had already submitted plenty of proof of an ongoing relationship and asked if he had any additional evidence to share. My Fiance provided a couple of hand-written letters/anniversary cards with a few more pictures. The CO kept the letters and pictures and issued a 221(g) with the following reason stated:

"More evidence of relationship to sponsor, such as photographs, correspondence, or other evidence of relationship over time."

What else should we submit to them that we haven't already provided?? :help:

Here is what the Embassy has received thus far in regards to proof of our ongoing relationship:

    - About 25 pictures of us together w/ his family and friends (all dated, with names and locations)

    - Facebook messages spanning our entire relationship (I picked about 2 days per month)

    - Skype Conversations & Calls (I picked about 2 days per month)

    - Letters of Intent to Marry for each of us (signed)

    - Original boarding passes showing travel to Greece and Albania several times

    - Passport stamps correlating with boarding passes mentioned above

    - Engagement ring receipt

    - Expedia travel itineraries for the above mentioned trips

    - Hand-written cards and Anniversary letters (with envelopes showing when they were sent by Post office)

Any help and/or input is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance :)

I'm stumped, all I can think of is more photos of YOU with HIS family. Getting accepted by an Albanian family is a big deal.

I think my husband and I submitted less stuff. We did live together for a total of three months before getting married and had been in a relationship for a year and a half before getting married. Any proof you lived together? Hotel stays? Apartment rentals? I sent him in with boxes of photos (I was taking a photography class when we first started dating in Italy) and some handwritten letters (he doesn't email). My husband's interview was conducted in Italian since the interviewer didn't speak Albanian and my husband's English was iffy at the time. Is your fiance's English really good? I'm playing Devils Advocate here.

  4. I'm trying to file my husband's I-765 without filling for AOS at the same time (I know waste of money, time, etc, we all make our own decisions).

The problem is that he never got a the I-94 form (I've googled the form and shown it to him and he never got that form/slip of paper).

Am I confused to as what a I-94 is? His passport was stamped with his date of arrival.

The instructions for the I-765 reads to submit the I-94 if available (page 6, 2. A). Well, it's not available...

I've looked up what to do and I could file the I-102 but it costs $320 to file and I have no idea how long it would take to get the replacement and I'm not crazy about playing $320 to replace a form he never got.

Info about arrival and such is in my timeline...

    Advice? Stories? Remarks?

  5. Our floors secretary thinks it's ok as long as she works 40 hours a week. So some days she comes in for 12 hours (7am-7pm) and some days she doesn't come in at all. Her direct boss says nothing because he works maybe 20 hours a week and doesn't seem to notice but for the love of God, she is the floor secretary!! When she isn't in the office that means I have people wonder into my room and ask me questions about other departments that she should be directing them to. Also her job is to answer the phone but who calls before 9am or after 5pm really and what about the days when she isn't in the office?
