  1. Lack of advice coming on this topic but thankfully I found out myself.......so, to anybody out there who may be concerned about re-arranging their interview - call the Embassy and they should provide you with an e-mail address to use. Send the e-mail (funnily enough) and it will be replied to within 24 hours (well mine was anyway) giving details of a new appointment.

24 hours after that I had confirmation of my new interview date in the post - easy as that.

  2. Hi Guys,

talk about leaving things until the last minute but i've got an interview next week and all of a sudden i'm in a mad rush making sure I have all the correct documents to take with me.

One of the forms that I have printed out (but not filled in) is an I-134 'Affidavit of Support' - i'm wondering whether this form is absolutely necessary to take with me to the interview because I am going to the US pretty much self-sufficient with a relatively decent amount of money saved up (a combination of money in my own account and from sending over dollars every now and again to my fiance) to essentially support myself.

Without meaning to sound moronic can somebody please let me know exactly what I will need to take with me to the interview? As far as i'm aware it is the following:

    1) Passport

    2) Police Certificate

    3) Birth Certificate (Long form and not old style 'short form' one)

    4) Three x US style passport photos

    5) Medical details (as my medical is AFTER my interview this will not apply)

I think i've got the above information pretty much nailed so the only grey area's are the I-134 and also whether it's worth taking along evidence of relationship (photos and letters etc). I'm not sure that proof of the relationship is needed though because obviously this was all sent prior to being approved.

I'm sure answers to all these questions are all over this website so apologies if it is but at a quick glance I couldn't really see it.

    Thanks in advance!

Bottom line, I think, is that American civil servants can be just as officious and fussy as the British ones. No matter what the circumstances, you require a sponsor to obtain the K-1 visa. The sponsor must provide evidence as on the I-134 that sufficient income is available.

I think i've come to realise this after looking on here and googling the other bits of information. In my rush to get things done and informing the Embassy that I have all the documents...it clearly transpires I haven't.

After speaking to my fiance earlier on what we could do is get her to fill the form out (get it notarised etc) and send any other possible relevant docs such as payslips etc and stick it on some kind of 48 hours delivery service which will enable me to take it to the interview next week.......OR I could contact the Embassy tomorrow, explain the situation and tell them how i'm concerned it might not arrive in time and ask whether I could re-arrange the interview for the following week - or whenever is suitable.

I'd feel quite an idiot doing the latter but I only received confirmation of the interview on Saturday so on the plus side I am letting them know at the earliest opportunity rather than the last minute.

  3. Thanks for that - when you say just bring the I-134 anyway - I mean I have one which is not filled in because it appears that would be done by the US citizen. On top of that at the end of the form it says that it needs to be signed in person by an 'officer administering oath'.

I think giving the Embassy in London a call in the morning would be a good idea just to see what they say about taking the I-134 form - the last thing I want to do is not take it but find out that it is needed and then have to go through all the hassle of re-arranging an interview.

  4. Hi yes it's a K1 fiance visa that we applied for and which I have been approved for. I'm in the UK and my fiance is in the US.

I didn't realise how useful a timeline would be to people other than myself so I didn't bother in the past. I'll give one a go shortly though.

As for the I-134 the more I read about it the more less likely I think it will be needed - not least because I earn a relatively decent income and i'm in a steady job until my departure date - and on top of that I earn more than my fiance so the whole idea of her needing to be my sponsor seems a little odd.

  6. Hi guys,

my good news today is that I received confirmation of my interview for the 14th with my medical to follow later on in the month - after hearing that I decided to spend my Saturday morning collating all the documents that i'll need and to my horror I could not find my ACPO Police certificate anywhere.

After spending God knows how long looking about without success I decided to drop them an e-mail (they are closed weekends) and to cut a long story short it looks like that i'll have to send £70 to them on Monday (registered next day delivery) and use the premium service for a 2-3 day turnaround.

Presuming they stick to their word I should still have this by Monday the 13th latest but it's really touch and go what with my interview being on the 14th.

I realise that the Embassy may never be too keen to rearrange interviews but i'm thinking they will also appreciate honesty is the best policy and i'm considering making a call to them on Monday explaining that there is a slim chance that this form may not arrive in time.

On the flip side of the 'honesty is the best policy' coin, i'm a little concerned that if it does arrive on time then I may have to wait a month or two for the rearranged interview date.

I've got to be honest, my gut reaction is not to risk messing anybody around and to call the Embassy first thing Monday morning - has anybody had any similar scenarios where they had to rearrange an interview?

    Thanks in advance!

  7. Can you reschedule the medical to be before the interview? Otherwise they will interview you but not make a final decision until after they receive the results of the medical.

Technically I could reschedule the interview but either way I guess the visa approval is partially dependent on the medical anyway so I guess in hindsight it's not particularly important that the interview is first.

Thanks for all the answers, much appreciated!

  8. Hi,

just wondering if anybody can clear this one up for me:

A week or so ago I arranged a medical in Knightsbridge for the the 23rd of this month - I then filled this information on the checklist from packet 3 and returned it, as instructed, to the Embassy where they would get back to me with an interview date.

Today I received a letter from the Embassy confirming my interview date will be on the 14th of this month but all the documentation I have with me or have seen on various websites states that the medical must take place BEFORE the interview.

Little bit confused over this and curious as to whether anybody else also had their interview first.

    Thanks!

  9. Hi Guys, thought i'd gatecrash the party once again with a question - I know you all love it.....or something

After waiting 3+ months to get any kind of positive information from the NVC we finally received confirmation that the case had been processed and were given an LND number (Good times). A few day's later on the 28th August we had a hardcopy letter arrive that informed us that the case would be sent on to the consulate - no date was mentioned as to when this would be.

3 weeks on and i've yet to hear anything - should I be attempting to call the NVC or even drop the Embassy a line or is there no real need for the alarm bells to go off yet?

I know there is a way to track the LND numbers but not entirely sure how to do it - if anyone out there is in the know it would be much appreciated.

  10. Firstly well done to everybody who has got all the great news lately and good luck to everybody else who is still waiting!

Just to give people an update on my situation - and hopefully this will put anybody else in the same situation at ease - our case finally arrived at the NVC having been approved way back on the 30th May and having virtually 'gone missing' since then as literally nobody at the CSC/NVC could inform us where it was.

6 weeks ago just when the whole thing was really starting to frustrate us, I sent a speculative e-mail to the NVC which they replied saying that they did not have our case on file - I replied back (3 weeks ago) asking them to double check because it didn't seem right that nobody knows what was going on with out approved visa and last week, much to my surprise, they replied stating that they have processed the case and quoted me an LND number.

I've re-read the e-mail about 20 times and the buzz is still the same each time! Total relief after all that stress!

I presume it will be relatively straightforward from here on in - the NVC send it on to London and then London send it on to me etc but if somebody can give me more of a definitive guide as to what happens next and how long it usually takes I would be very grateful - i'm talking approximate dates on how long things take and what the checklist comprises of, will the interview date arrive with the checklist or will that arrive after I have returned the checklist to the consulate in London etc

Obviously there's info for this kinda thing all over the web but seeing as a lot of you guys have gone through the same procedure I think i'd rather get some jargon-free advice!

As i've suggested before, if your case is taking an age or you think there's something just not quite right in the delay then keep calling the CSC/NVC (or e-mail), take names and extension numbers of anybody you speak to for future reference and eventually, through persistence, you will get answers!

  11. Anyway in a nutshell, the purpose of this post is to suggest that your case may also have been forwarded to the wrong department so get the petitioner to give USCIS a call!

    Alex7892:

Thank you and thank goodness that you guys got the better USCIS rep! Hope that things will move smoothly after this incident.

Unfortunately for us, he called a few times and no one really knew what's going on - and they gave him the standard "wait til 90 days then you can send NVC a copy of your NOA2"

And guess what else we found out - they will actually wait 90 days from the date they receive those NOA2 copies before processing them... :crying:

Yeah, we had the '90 day' standard line too - I wasn't happy with that so I just called again. As you touched upon, it really is a lottery who picks the telephone up at USCIS - some are very helpful and others are very unhelpful.

Perhaps ask to speak to a manager of sorts and maybe you will get quicker answers or simply keep trying and eventually through law of average you will get put through to somebody who will actually go that little extra mile like we seem to have got.

I know how frustrating it must be for you but my advice is just to keep calling them on a very regular basis until you get through to somebody with a bit of common sense.

  12. Hi guys,

We received NOA2 2 months ago - yet packet 3 is nowhere in sight.

We called NVC so many times just to find out that they haven't even received anything from the CSC. It makes us really nervous.. :(

Any advice on what to do? Any of you experiencing the same thing?

I know I experienced something similar to this - we were approved (K1) on the 30th May and received the hardcopy of the NOA2 in early June stating that we would hear back within 2-4 weeks. After the 6th week had passed without hearing anything I called the NVC who did not have the file - I called again a few days later and they still did not have the file. I then called USCIS who were very inconsistent with their information - the first person was relatively helpful yet the second person was clueless and gave me less information than the first call.

However to be fair, the latter USCIS representative did suggest the petitioner (the US citizen) called rather than myself (UK citizen) so that's what my Fiance did last Friday and were told that the case had been sent to the wrong place. After much apologising on their behalf, we were then informed that it would be recalled and then sent on to the NVC in a week or 2 and that she would personally call us when she dispatches it.

Whether this happens or not remains to be seen but it is a huge positive step from being in limbo land a couple of weeks ago where nobody had a clue where our papers/case were. It's early August now and i'm kinda hoping to have my medical and interview done and dusted by early November which I think is pretty realistic but we'll see - I guess it depends how quick the turnaround is for the NVC to send to the consulate and for the consulate to then send the details on to me.

Anyway in a nutshell, the purpose of this post is to suggest that your case may also have been forwarded to the wrong department so get the petitioner to give USCIS a call!

  13. Alex - such a long delay is certainly not normal. CSC does take a little while longer than VSC to ship petitions to the NVC but even so 2-4 weeks is more normal, not 7-8. I'll echo Jeroen and recommend that you ring CSC as soon as possible. BTW, congrats on having an awesome name. ;)

    Thank's guys.

Today I called the NVC from the UK. It went as expected as in they said they hadn't received the case yet and give it 90 day's etc, etc.

I then called the CSC (Telephone 800 375 5283) and spoke to a representative called Janice - as nice as she was it sure sounded like the entire conversation at her end was being read from a script :star:

Anyway, she has confused me slightly because my interpretation of the whole K1 process is that you file, you get approved, the CSC send it to the NVC and then the NVC send it to relevant consulate (London I guess in my case) and then London get back to me and arrange medical/interview dates etc

But what she seemed to be telling me is that the documents are sent from the CSC straight to the consulate in the UK (in my case) which doesn't quite sound right because what part would the NVC then play in all this?

She didn't really know any time estimations of how long it would take (we were approved on the 30th May) or couldn't tell me when the case was sent from the CSC and constantly referred me to the letter which my Fiancee received in the US which confirmed the case has been approved and that we should hear back within 2-4 weeks.

What Janice did tell me is that I should go on USCIS and on the left hand side click on the 'Info Pass' box and get my fiancee to arrange an appointment.......

I've got to say that I really didn't expected to be more confused than I was before picking the phone up today but I definitely am

Does anybody know what this 'Info pass' appointment is for - is it useful or useless - and is the info I was given today regarding where the CSC send cases....is this also wrong and if so what do you suggest doing?

I guess I could just sit about and wait the 90 day's but I get the feeling that I could get better advice if I got through to the right people.......

    Thanks,

    Alex

  14. Hi guys,

apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere (i'm sure it has but navigating around this beast of site is pretty daunting given that I just registered 5 minutes ago!) but i've got a CSC/NVC question.

In a nutshell myself (in the UK) and my Fiancee (in California, US) filed for the K-1 I-129F visa back in early January of this year. On the 31st May I had e-mail notification that it had been approved (hooray!) and within a few days my Fiancee received a letter through the post confirming this and informing us that it would be forwarded on to the NVC within "2-4 weeks".

Clearly it's been longer than 2-4 weeks so we called the NVC on Friday (18th July) and they informed us that they have yet to receive anything from the CSC which is a little frustrating.

I was wondering if this is unusual and whether others are experiencing these kind of delays? Also, was the original quote of 2-4 weeks unreliable anyway and not to be taken so literally?

Would it be worth getting in touch with the CSC and if so would anybody have any helpful contact details....... or would you advise that I simply wait for another few weeks and then call the NVC again?

Any friendly advice would be much appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Alex
