  1. On my J-1 visa in my passport it says two year rule does not apply under the Annotation title.

I don't know if this hlps as I do not know what tye of visa you have but that is what it says on my J-1 visa.

I am also on a J-1 visa but all I have is an I-94 stapled into my passport and my DS form. Apparently Canadians aren't given actual visas.

Since it says not required then it's fine!

  2. Hi J-1 Guys.

So my interview went good and bad. However, I did pass I guess. I got to the place around 20 minutes early. I waited until thirty minutes after my scheduled appointment time. Then I was finally called. My husband and I followed our adjudicator through to his office and he made us raise our right hand and swear to tell the truth. We then gave our passports and some documents for photocopying. He asked the questions like had I ever been convicted of a felony etc. He copied the things and that was fine. The problem I had was that the doctor had not completed the medical correctly and USCIS had thrown away my father in laws copy of his tax return. My husband and father in law have the same first name and they thought it was a duplicate copy. What I have to do is obtain another copy of his tax return and get the doctor to fix his paper work and return it on Friday and then everything will be fine.

I produced a few copies of things that prove we have a relationship but he didn't look at many things and didn't look at any photos. So it was very quick and painless.

    Good luck!

  3. Finally, today I checked my status and it said my ead card has been ordered!

Thanks for letting us know about your Infopass!!! I`m glad it went soooo good  !!!!!!(well, the winking part was a bit  but I would let them wink at me as much as they want , as long as it would guarantee me an EAD ! ;)

    Congratulations!!!!! :star:

His winking just meant that he wanted me to play along with his story. Maybe you don't have this kind of body language gesture in Poland. It wasn't anything rude. You should get an info pass because I feel like my call to USCIS did nothing even though they sent an email to NBC.

I hope everything goes well for you!

  4. If you GC or AP is in your married name, then you will need your marriace certificate to show the name change. The documents (Passport and GC/AP) have to match or you need a marriage certificate to show name change.

FYI-You don't need to officially change your name in a court for it to be legal. You can begin using your husband's last name right after marriage. Once you are married, the marriage certificate is your proof of the name change (if you want it). Some people choose to continue using their maiden name. It's your choice, but know that you don't have to change your name in a court to be able to use the married name.

    See this: http://www.legalzoom.com/name-change-guide...ame-change.html

Well we got married in a court house and I don't want to change my name till I have an actual wedding with the white dress etc, so that's why I didn't figure I would need to take it.

Well I called to USCIS and they said they will put in some kind of email and then I should wait 5 days to get a response from them and they didn't respond. So tomorrow I have an info pass appointment and I will tell you how it goes.

Funny you wrote that because I called USCIC again 2days ago and they told me the same! The man I talked to saw that I put service request in about 8days earlier. He decided that he will "write" some kind of e-mail saying that I`ve been waiting for my EAD over 120 days and it needs to be taking care of asap (he did it with me on the phone). He told me to wait 30-45 days and if nothing changes-to call again (another 30 days!!! :girlwerewolf2xn: ). Awesome, gotta "love" USCIS!

That`s my update -which is no update at all actually!

Anyway, hope your case (and others who are still waiting ) goes much better than mine!

PS. How did your infopass go?

At the info pass they didn't notice anything about the service request that I had put in. So they called the National Benefits Center for me. The officer was amazing he made up a story for me as to why I should get an ead asap. He kept winking at me while he told a bunch of garbage to the NBC person on the phone. They said they would get my ead looked at today and that it would be done in 2-3 weeks. So no real update but hopefully I will have something to tell you in 2-3 weeks. However, at least seeing the person face to face made it easier to explain than just talking on the phone.

    GOOD LUCK!

One other thing he told me was that since I filed my 485 concurrently and that asked for RFEs that they may have forgotten about my ead because they were focusing on the other one.

  7. Oh my my. This is ridiculous. Yep, probably they will do service request after 90days. I am also thinking about contacting a local congressman I tried to get help for my K1 visa.

    His office acts very quickly.

Well I filled on June 5 and still nothing even after service request. You may just end up getting a green card and no ead.

That is what happened to us.

  8. Hey! I am also adjusting from j-1 and I did have the 2 year h.r.r. I got a waiver for that though. I already had my biometrics apointment on 09/07 and I am wating for my EAD!!! Hopefully it will get here SOON!!!

Did you get your final approval letter from USCIS yet? I only got the favorable recc. from the DoS which I used in my AOS application, but I have yet to hear anything further on the waiver from USCIS.

You can get advanced parole if you wanna go see your mom. You don't have to wait for the green card. I have been waiting for over 4 months for ead, so I am doing info pass tomorrow. I didn't have the 2 year rule thankfully. Hopefully everything goes well for you guys that do. I feel like everyone gets processed faster than us. I would love to hear about J-1's that had their AOS interview. I wonder if they ask if you intended to get married when you came here and try to prove you did...

  9. Me, too. I've searched this website from top to bottom for people adjusting from a J-1 and couldn't find anyone willing to share their experiences. Thank you, finally!

Oh good. I'm glad there is more than just me. I felt like everyone was an F student. We should definitely share experiences since it seems that K visas and the F students are treated a little differently to us. I can't believe how long EAD is taking. I think I will actually have my Green Card first.
