  1. You are eligible 90 days prior to your third year residence anniversary. It is technically not 2 yrs 9 months, but 3 years minus 90 days.

i did not apply 90 days prior to my third year residency- i did not know that, but its ok, i past my test and am all good now just waiting for the Oath letter.

  2. I was asked 6 questions, where is the statue of liberty? Name one Native American tribe? Who is the speaker of the house? Whets the supreme law of the land? Name two of the original states? Who is the president now?

After I was done he told me I passed the test and I should get the ceremony letter in 2 to 3 months, don’t they tell you if your are approved or not? He did not tell me that all he said is that I passed the test and I should be getting my oath letter in 2 to 3 months. Whets the next step now? How would I know that my interview was approved?

  3. I had my N400 interview today, and it left me wondering because it took 5 minutes, this is what happened:

the IO called my name, and he seemed to be in a hurry. as i was walking to his office he asked me if i was still married, i said yes. that was the only question he asked me other than civic test questions, then he asked me to swear fast and sat down, and gave me like 4 papers to sign, and asked me 6 civic test questions, i answered them. and he said i passed and i should receive an oath letter in 2 to 3 months, i said that i have speeding tickets, he said you are fine congratulations.

I was really wondering if this fast test or interview whatever it is because i could not figure it what it was, would effect my application. he did not asked me questions about my relationship except if i was still married, he did not ask me for proofs, he did not even give me time to ask questions about my application and oath letter. hope everything is fine.

  4. when they ask question in the interview , do they ask you to fully detail the answer or just say the short answer, for example if they ask whats the supreme law of the US, and the answer is the Constitution, do they ask you when was it ratified and who created it and other stuff? thanks.

  5. I got my interview letter and my interview date is next month, my question is: how do you get a driving history and proof thats traffic tickets are paid? do you i have to go to DMV? i heard they can give me a driving history but what about proof that i paid those tickets? do i have to go to court for that?

    thx.

  6. Your case has been transferred to a local office and an interview will be scheduled. You will be sent a notice advising you of the date and time of your interview. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

If your case status indicates that you are currently in this step, you have either been scheduled for an interview or are in line to be scheduled for an interview. The amount of time your application will remain in this step will vary by office and is largely determined by the number of cases ahead of yours. The interview notice will have specifics about time, location and anything you will need to bring to your interview. If your application remains pending beyond our normal processing times (as shown below) please contact our national customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Please note that not every application/applicant will require an interview. In some instances, an interview is required by regulation and others an interview is requested because USCIS has determined that this is the most efficient means to determine eligibility. For a naturalization application the interview will include your taking the required English and/or Civics tests (unless exempt or waived).

will i be getting my interview date soon?

  7. I called USCIS last week and filed a service request for not getting my fingerprints, its been 2 months now since i received the NOA, my question is: can i still make an infopass and inquire about my case at the local office even when a service request is still pending? from what i read on here some service request filers were unsuccessful.

  8. No fingerprints letter to this date, its been almost two months since they received my N400, all i seen is one update when i check my status online, why they did not send me a fingerprint letter? i know for fact this will only delay the process, i called them and all they did is filed a service request and told me i would hear something in 45 days, what happen and what should i do if i never hear from them?? and what if i make an infopass and go to local office and they reject me for not having a fingerprint letter? what else should i do??

  9. They 100% will do fingerprints all over again ...... for the n-400 application. You pay them the $80 and they "get cha' again!" They do no take photo for N-400 as you send picture in yourself with the application!

    Good luck to you!

but i have not received any fingerprints letter from them, all i got is NOA, its been almost 2 months now and no FP letter. I called USCIS and they made me file a service request, i should have made an infopass and went to local office and explain them the situation, they said i have to wait up to 45 days to get an answer from them, can i still make an infopass and have my fingerprints done at the local office or do i have to wait for service request which it takes forever as i heard from other people.

  10. 16. have you ever been arrested, cited, or detained by any law enforcement officer (including USCIS or former INS and military officer) for any reason??

in my answer i checked NO, and i was issued 2 traffic citation before, i already submitted my N400 on November.

do you think i should have checked YES, whats going to happen to my application?

    thanks.

  11. You need to have the biometrics appointment letter in hand in order to get your fingerprints taken. The letter has your identifying information and the instructions about what type of biometrics you need, so if you don't have it available, you can't walk in and get your biometrics done. Wait for the letter - I expect you will hear something soon.

i hard people here done that, without a fingerprint letter, they made an info pass apointement and went and had there fingerprint taken.

  12. I called the USCIS for not receiving the fingerprint letter, its has been 1 month and 22 days since i received the NOA, when i called she asked me for some info about me and she submitted a service request and she told i m supposed to hear from the office in 45 days, i asked her if i can go to the local office and have my fingerprints done and she said now i cant since i submitted a service request. Can i still go and have my fingerprint done? what will expect from the service request?? has anybody experienced this? thanks a lot for your help.

  13. If he has been a permanent resident for 3 years only and he is divorced, he is not eligible to file for citizenship yet. His divorce isn't going to hurt him with immigration, but it will mean that he doesn't qualify for the 3 year category. He needs to wait until 90 days before the 5th anniversary of his green card before he is eligible to file for citizenship. There is a question on the form that asks marital status - he just needs to fill in divorced. It won't have an impact on his citizenship unless some problem turns up between now and when he files that makes them question the legitimacy of his marriage and arrival to the US in the first place. That is always a possibility but not a big one as he has already removed his conditions on his green card on his own.

    Does this answer your question?

Thanks Kathryn for your answers, yeah he got divorced when he was conditional green card, and he did filed in his own for 10 years green card and he got approved without interview becuase he had a lot of proofs with his ex wife jointly like mortgage ...ect, so now he is going going to file for Citizen in February of 2010m and he has been here 5 years and he has right to file as for it, he was just little curious if they are gunna ask him why he got divorced or something like that, i told him its no big deal and they already knew that you are divorced when you filed for removing of conditions, thanks .

5 years after you get 10 yrs green card, 3 years after you get your green card if you are still married, 5 years after you get a divorce even u had a conditional GC, and yes its a big deal when you apply, they will keep dragging you up to 5 years, its hard very hard when u get a divorce and try to apply for citizenship, and yes they will ask you about your marriage of course. so you are going to have that green card untill its almost expired before you get your citizenship. or may be not in some cases unless you hire a good lawyer. ta dik sa3a b9a hta tched lhram l9asis a sahbi malek zerban a ba l3alawi?

  14. yeah the same thing happened to me... and i was pissed... did they sent it to a different Zipcode.. according to the post office that zip code is a part of the Lewisville,TX and the place where they delivered it was the physical address of the USCIS...
