  1. Hi everyone. I need your advice on this.

I filed my wife's AOS package w/ her new American name (first name). Would this cause an issue down the road? i.e. FBI background check, etc.

USCIS sent an NOA and she has her biometrics scheduled for 6/10/2009 w/ her new American name. I'm not sure if we should mention it to the person and correct it to her original name or is it okay to go with her new American name? I'm a little puzzled...

  2. HI i have receieved my SSN card this past week, my fiance and i are getting married next month, on my SSN card it says valid for work only with DHS authorization. what does this mean?? i have no idea, my fiance says that maybe i should just wait until after our wedding and my change of name on the SSN and AOS to look for work, but id love to be able to do that now. Am i able to work with my SSN card saying that or not?.thanks for helping Annie

Yeah, you need your EAD to work. But you can still use your SSN card to open up bank accounts and apply for driver's license, etc. Once you get married and get your EAD, go back to SSN office and renew your SSN. You'll no longer have Work Only with DHS Authorization on the card.

  3. Did it reach NVC and got cleared? If it didn't you can call NVC (603-334-0700) to find out what your case status is.

If it did and it's sent to the embassy, you can call, fax, or e-mail embassy and ask them about the case status. You'll need to provide NVC case number or USCIS case number when you call.

    Good luck!

  4. Shoule I be worried that i see people getting noa2's who have filed after me? What are some reasons why other cases get approved sooner than others??

I suggest that you call USCIS if your projected date range for NOA2 has passed. Based on your timeline, I see that your expected NOA2 date is at the end of December 2008. Give another 3 weeks or so and if you still don't hear from them, call them for your status.

  5. Hi all,

Me and my fiancée have been talking about her getting a visa to come to America for over a year now. We started the fiancée visa process last May and things have been going great. She finally got her packet from the Romanian embassy and we filled out all the paper work and she sent it in. We are waiting for her interview date. The problem is as soon as she dropped the packet in the mail she started having second thoughts. All of a sudden this went from being a fairy tale to real! Now she is saying she doesn't want to go to her interview. I keep telling her to go to the interview and get the visa. She can make her final decision on coming to America later.

My question to you is this common? Has this happened to you and how did you deal with it? I am really concerned she will miss her interview and then have regrets later.

It hasn't happened to me and I hope it doesn't. Even if it does, I will try to talk to her and find out what the reason is for her to not go to the interview. If I can deal with the reason she gives and provide her some sort of an answer to her doubt, then I believe I can persuade her. However, if I can not understand her reason and cannot deal with it, then I believe I'll have to let her go.

Hopefully, things will work out well for you guys.

  6. I and my fiance just got approved for NOA-2 and I'm preparing documents to send to her.

I'm wondering if I really need to send the original proofs of documents such as Naturalization Paper to my fiance. Does the letter from embassy indicate to provide original proofs of documents? Did those of you who eventually got the K-1 visa had to do that too? I'm a little worried b/c things could get lost in the mail and those documents are quite important and take a long time to replace.

    Thanks in advance!

  7. The last couple days have been so terrible for me. MyHan failed her K1-Visa interview in HCM city. I am now booking an

airplane ticket to go back HCM at the end of Dec of this year in order to JUST BE THERE to proof that my relationship is real.

I have never been married before. I came to the US in 1990. Have been studying and working real hard all those years (okay

maybe not all the time) I mean I really focus on my career (My family: Father/Mother/Sister/3 brothers) came to the US on

HO program. I am the only one in the family who is still single. (Nothing wrong with me - Image how hard it is when you arrived

to the US in 1990 with no money or education degree.) I am an US citizen (since 1998.) Have been working hard since

1998 (after I graduated from UC Davis.) End of 2006/Beginning of 2007 was the first time that I visited HCM after 15-16 years. (Just felt I needed a vacation.) I met MyHan. I came back and got engaged with her on 02/14/2008. We have all evidents,

    and everything...You name it.

Still: Han got rejected saying that our relationship is not real. I was so angry. I am a good US citizen. I have never committed any crimes before. Lying is a crime, isn't it? It took me awhile (I had to go through a lot of thinking before commiting myself - spending the rest of my life with Han) And they said "relationship is not real???" How can I proof????? I just got 1 heart.

From what I see as soon as Han showed up for the interview, they think that she just tries to get out of Vietnam. I don't know

how / process / degree the interviewers have to have in order to be an US officials presenting our US in HCM. I am saying the

preson who interviews my future wife should be ashame of himself. My point is if you can't identify which couples are real and which couples are fake, please don't take the jobs. If you do take the jobs, please make the right calls.

Now: This year, so much going on at my work + bad economic. I don't intend to take vacation this year. But now, I must take it.

I feel that I need to go back to HCM and try to make my case. (I am not a young man anymore. I know what I want for my life.

All I want is to sponsor Han coming to the US so we could start our family together. A very simple wish/dream isn't it?)

Sorry if this message is too messy. I am writing this message with whatever I have in minds. I just want the interviewer knows

that I don't lie about my relationship. That is all.

I will keep you guys post about my journey...(btw, they ask me to submit a letter telling them how I met Han...How I proposal...

the whole nine yards Plus the names / addresses / birthdates of all of my relatives in US.

That is all I have for today - Later.....

Sorry to hear that. I'm sure it will help her getting a visa if you accompany her and on top of that, your presence will give much emotional support for your fiance. Hopefully everything works out for you so that you and your fiance will come back to the states together.

  8. :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

We're FINALLY seeing some progress!!!!!:thumbs::dance: May God grant you a smooth & speedy approval on the remaining part of your visa journey. Congrats & best wishes! :D May God continue to shower your lives with blessings! :D

Thank you all for your support. I'm sure the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas will bring you guys some good news. God bless!

  9. I knew something was up when 2 touches were made on my case status this week. I kept on checking and checking and I just found out that our NOA-2 got approved!!! Man~ what a relief!!! The wait was a little over 4 months but it sure seemed like forever. Now I've gotta stay busy gathering my documents and send them over to my girl.

For those of my fellow July filers, hang in there. I think CSC is pumping out NOA-2s since election is finally over. To make it even better, the approval came about a week quicker than the Visajourney's anticipated date.

I'll keep posting my timeline and status so that I can at least do something good for this community of Visa Journeys.

Thank you all and Happy Thanksgiving!!!

  10. As the NOA-2 approvals are winding down to July filers these days, I've been a frequent visitor of USCIS website to check on my case status. This week, I've already got 2 touches and it's making me nervous guessing what those meant. No approval yet though. I want that damn NOA-2 approval now!!! Give it to me and put my mind at ease.

Well, at least it looks like ppl at USCIS are back to work pumping out NOA-2s. I'm looking forward to next week.

Hang in there July 08 Filers!!!

  11. My Fiancee was here on a F-1 Student Visa before from Aug, 07 to Aug 08. She has some hospital bills that's not paid off by her school insurance and the hospital has turned the balance over to the collection agency. Would that affect her coming to US on K1 visa? What do they check when they check on her background? I just wanted to make sure nothing would stop or delay the time for her to arrive here in the US. I've filed the I-129 in July and waiting for NOA-2 sometime at the end of this month or by next month.

Thank you in advance for your response!

  12. What are you sending? And where?

If sending the K-1 to your US service center, I would suggest USPS. I sent everything priority with no extra services. We have had absolutely no issues. Make sure you keep a copy of everything.

If sending overseas, it all depends on the area and hwo the mail system is. If I shipped to Jamaica, I definately did not want to send it via the USPS.

Opss I forgot to mention is to send the I-129f packet to vermont service...thanks for the replies

They willl all get there. I've seen people who sent their I-129f packet via all three and they all got there. I would like to recommend you USPS Priority like everyone's saying but make sure you buy the delivery confirmation. It will ensure that the the packet is delivered and received by the USCIS.

  13. Based on your timeline, it's not too late to take initiative and start looking for a job that pays enough to prove that you can support him. Since co-sponsor is difficult to find, I think the only choice you have may be getting a good paying job that will qualify you for the affidavit of support. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think as long as your income is over the poverty line for the state you live in, you'll be fine. Keep looking around for the job and you'll find it. Don't lose your hope! You hope will disappear as soon as you give it up.

  14. it's been 17days of faustration and my girl :luv: turns out to be stronger than me, i think i'm also gonna cry :crying:

It's been 9 days since they received my petition package. I don't know if CSC is bombarded w/ 129-f petitions recently but it looks like many of us who filed in late June or in July are still waiting for the NOA-1 and the check being cleared. Anybody filed in July to CSC received NOA-1 yet? I'm curious to find out...
