  1. you cld mail it out while its 'IN PROCESS', by the time ur arrives gets there ur status would have changed o paid. thats what i did. mailed out documents fewe minutes after i made online ds 230 payment. it still sits in their mailroom for a day or more before review so at least u gain one or two days by mailing out early.

thank you! I appreciate your input!

  2. Hi, I have a question, which I am sure has been answered on this forum many times, but I just can not find any info on it. I would really appreciate any input.

Can anybody please explain in detail what happens after the case is received at NVC? (I am sponsoring my mom). Am I supposed to call NVC to get a case number or just wait for them to mail me package with information? What forms do I need to mail/e-mail them?

    Thanks a lot!

  4. Hello everyone -

I have a question to all of you who just got throught the NVC stage. I am confused about whether civil documents sent to NVC need to be translated to English or not (in my case, mom is coming from Russia). I get mixed info about it. Could anyone kindly let me know for sure?

And How do I create a timeline? I mailed I-130 on August 30th. NOA1 is dated September 5th. Thank you!!!

  5. Hello, everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience with receiving a SSN:

I applied for a SSN a month after entry to the USA on K1 visa, 1 week after we got married. They kept a photocopy of my passport with I-94, a copy of our marrriage certificate and told me I should be receiving my SSN by mail any time soon. Weeks went by and there was no SSN in my mail box. I was checking with SS office every 2 weeks, but they were telling me that they are waiting for a confirmation from USCIS without which they could not issue a number, and no confirmation was received. They assured me it was a matter of time, since all the documents I submited were all they needed. In the meantime (3 weeks after I applied for my SSN) I send in my application for GC and EAD, a week later I received my receipts, had done biometrics and my case does show up on USCIS website when I make a search. Imagine my surprise, when a day before my K1 visa expires (2 months after I applied for a SSN), I receive a phone call from my SS office (I was bugging them all previous week), and they tell me that they have requested 4 confirmations on me in the last 2 months, but got a reply that there are no records on me. They told me that since my I-94 is expired by now, I can only re-apply for a SSN once I receive my EAD. I find it very annoying...Has anyone had the same situation?

I was also very eager to apply for US driving license. I have not received EAD yet, no SSN, so basically I don't have any kind of state issued ID to prove my legal status here.

Is it possible to apply for driving license without any of these papers??

    Thank you!

  6. Hello, everyone,

I am sorry but I am very confused about what a local office really is ...

I sent my AOS petition to Chicago office, as on the USCIS website that is the address they give. I read VJ forums and I see that some people have local office mentioned in their profiles. Does it mean that some people file at places other than Chicago office or do our cases get transferred somethimes? How do I know where my case is being pricessed at?

    Thank you!!!

  7. I saw someone mention on VJ that cases from NVC can be tracked by EXP SEP 29 2008A ...

what is EXP? are all cases tracked by this reference (just different date) regardless the consulate they are sent to?

I tried running searches on DHL website with different dates, but nothing ever comes up. Any help?

    thank you,

  8. Hey everyone! Yesterday I checked on my USCIS account to see if there'd been any touches and sure enough, it had been 'touched' (date changed to yesterday's date)! That was yesterday and I hadn't checked for a week or two so I was pretty psyched...I checked again today and it was updated again with a STATUS update that said on October 15 my approval had been sent for the Fiance Petition! (no email notification as I requested on the account, so looks like they don't keep up on that part but as of right now, i don't even care!) Woo-hoo! After 125 days....pretty good for California right? Ok, onward through the rest of the process and good luck to everyone else...

Hi everyone! We also got our approval today - 2oth of October.

How do we track our case at NVC??

Hi and congrats! We just received the hard copy of our approval and if I'm not mistaken, you just wait and if after four weeks you don't get a notice from NVC saying that your case has been sent to the embassy you call the number (given on the NOA2 approval) and they might tell you something....I was kinda wondering the same thing and if anyone with experience has info on this maybe you could clear it up for us newbies....the NOA2 says that with the notice that the NVC sends us, will be included a 'unique tracking number' or something like that, but I don't know what good that is because the notice they're sending is to say that your case is now on it's way to the embassy, so there wouldn't be a need to track the case at NVC any longer would there? Maybe I'm confused....Actually I'm in Argentina with my fiance right now and my mom just read the letter to me over skype so I might have things a little twisted...help anyone?

in some VJ members' timelines i ve noticed that the process of NVC receiving and forwarding case to a relevant embassy is quite fast, sometimes all happenes within a week. time lines are updates with when the case was received/send., so i was wondering where people have this info from...

  9. Hi Guys.

Today we received our NOA2!! what happens next? how can we track our case with NVC and how do I know it was received by my (beneficiary's) embassy??

    thank you!!

In about 2-4 weeks, you should receive a notice from the NVC that the file has been shipped to the Embassy in Israel. It doesn't pay to call the NVC until there seems to be an unusual delay. In another 2-3 weeks, you can e-mail the consulate in Israel to inquire about the case, using the new ID number provided by the NVC. It's a slow process, isn't it, after waiting so long to get the NOA2, but such is life. Good luck.

Will my fiance in the USA receive a note from NVC by mail? I saw time line of some VJ members and often it takes as little is 1 week for NVC to receive and send a case to a relevant embassy. So I was wondering if there was a quicker way to find out whether the case has been received/send to an embassy by NVC...

  10. JUST GOT MY APPROVAL PEOPLE!! THANKS EVERYONE SO MUCH, GOOD LUCK TO ALL, THANKS TO VILLA, STINKY MONKEY, AND NAVID+HEDIYEH....HOPE UR COMES SOON!!! GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!

"Your I-129f was approved in 132 days from your filing date."

Hey, congratulations!!! We also got approved today, exactly 4 months after our filing date!

How do we track our case with NVC now?

  11. Hey everyone! Yesterday I checked on my USCIS account to see if there'd been any touches and sure enough, it had been 'touched' (date changed to yesterday's date)! 12. Dear Dianna and Adam,

It is nice to see someone else from Israel:)

I am glad your K1 journey is over! On your time line chart you mentioned turning to congress man's office after 2 months waiting .... isn't 2 months considered as a short waiting time and usually it is 3-4 monts at Vermont??

    Thank you

    Hello to all June filers!

I am getting a little confused: some of you, guys, write that your petitions are "touched".

Where do I get this infrormation from? I check my case on-line, but it just says "received and pending".

    Thanks

    Anjelika

PS. We filed on the 18th of June

Got our receipt number through cashed check

Dear anjelica- I hate to take the happiness away- but those touches just mean someone scaned your file- which could mean anything actually. don't worry as it may look like forever- if you do everything thorowly and double and tripple check your package before you send it- and do everything on your part the fastest and most detale oriented way- this is your best bet on a speedy approval. we weren't "touched" once and just got the notice on our approval one very happy day.

I'm happy for you you created the account online- usually it works well and lets you know the fastest about any change on /your case.. :star:

if you read around the forumes you'll get a lot of useful info- and also as I said- you can ask me- I have a fountain of info after this long exausting process..:)

  13. Thank you for your input,

and good luck to all of us!!

    Anjelika81,

I think we are twins! I also sent my petition on June 20th and my last touch was July 10th! (I opened my account July 20th, so you opening an account did not influence the touch, IMO)

    GOOD LUCK!!!!

    Hi Viki,

Did you open an account on July 14th and saw the last update date June 23??

We sent our petition on June 20, but I only opened an account on July 10th (no tracking number till then), and the last update was July 10th - same date as my account was opened. So ever since I have been wondering if I was really touched on the 10th of July, or this date appears just because the account was opened.

    Thanks

Awwwwww I am soooo happy!!!! finally my case was "touched".....I didnt know I had to open an account to see the last updated...everytime i checked my case it said: your case was received and pending....but i read here I needed to open an account to see the touches :innocent: ...so i did it today and I realized my case was "touched" on 06/23!!!! I am sooo happy :dance::dance:

  15. Oh, I hope not especially since you have been waiting for several months now...!

I thought they didnt discuss your case with you until the case is within processing times. Yet you write that your case was touched twice after you called them. How did you convince them to talk to you?

Hope not as think I have used that and I have yet to get an RFE and I filed in Janaury....
