I was looking on here - http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/ivfees.html
For a K3 visa, Im aware I have to pay $131 and $85 for fingerprint.. but what's the "transportation letter fee" for 165, do I have to pay that for a K3 visa????
I do believe the application fee for K visa applicants is $131 total which includes the finger prints. The only other fee is the VFS fee.

It's been less than 5 years, my wife is now an expert driver.
The key to teaching someone driving is Patience and able to hold your heart in your palm.
1) I have a sports car, stick shift, tried teaching my wife with it, she was doing well, but was having some hard time with switching gear, so i got her a Maxima Automatic to practice on, this will eliminate the need for switching gear so she can concentrate on the driving part.
The key to it all, when teaching someone to drive, try not to overly criticizing them, because with with my wife, the more you point out the mistakes she's making, she gets more nervous, and make even worse one, so it's very difficult to hold it and stay quiet, but if it's something major you have to point it out right away.
All i have to say is communication, communication and don't be afraid to speak, we were driving home and my wife was making some critical mistakes that I had to point them out, so that made her nervous.
Even now i am still paying for it, we used to live in an Apt with a Gate, and I always stop the car before the sidewalk, waiting for the driveway to open up, my wife like to pull up right in front of the gate. I blame myself for not speaking out that day and said wait a little bit futher wait for the gate to open then proceed.
To this day i still can't recall why, or why it happened, when the gate started to open up, my wife feet probably slip off the brake, all i know we Ram the gate.
The damaged was a slightly bent gate and it went off the rail, but the Apartment complex charged my car insurance almost $6,000 for the damage.
Needless to say it went on into my record as a car accident and I haven't had a car accident or any ticket for the last 8 years, now my wife car insurance premium is much lower than mine, because I told the insurance company at the time I was the one driving.
So it takes a lot of LOVE AND PATIENCE!!
Hi Nikita2Charles,
Love and patience...can't get anywhere in life 'worthwhile' without these two key ingredients can we?.
Though he knows how to drive, I'm looking forward to watching my 'Soon-to-be-wonderful-Husband' get used to driving an automatic as well as driving on opposite side of car and lanes.
Also will take your advice and definately be sure to communicate clearly to avoid the same as what happened to you and your wife.
Thanks for sharing with us.

Hello all,
Finally received the hard copy from uscis reaffirming my original noa2. However it does not have a new noa2 date anywhere on it.
it's just a regular plain i-797c notice with the following written on it:
This is to advise you that we have reaffirmed our previous decision on the above application or petition which the Department of State had previously returned for review. We have forwarded the case back to the Department of State for action.
That's it. receipt date is same as our original noa1 in march and the notice date is nov 12. There is no new validity date or anything on it.
My original Noa2 has an expiration date of Dec 6th, which is in 19 days. Now since it was originally at NVC and was given a file number will it go straight to my consulate or will it go back to NVC again? Will Nvc auto extend the date?
I am extremely worried about this now and DOS is closed so i cannot call them.
The last thing i want is for this to sit on a shelf again only to be picked up and looked at with the "oh so sad it's expired" and return it again, or whatever they do with expired petitions!
Hi Kimbear,
You will have two I-797c letters. First, the one you've mentioned above and then a 2nd I-797c which is the actual new Approval letter. This 2nd one will have the new expiration date and the same reciept date as your original and should arrive in a few days to a week.
You'll have to go through the same steps as before. The USCIS sends the petition back to NVC and the NVC sends you a letter (just as the first time) to inform you they've forwarded your re-affirmed petition back to the Embassy. From here, you will need to submit the relationship evidence, pcc's (if they're more than a year old at time of next interview), completed forms, etc. just as the very first time you went through this. Every step required is the same as before, except for the fact that we were given a new case number by the Embassy. The new case number was not on our notification letter from NVC. So don't be surprised when the Embassy emails you and refers to a totally different case number. When I inquired about it, the Embassy in Delhi told me that once a case is returned to USCIS, they are not able to use the original (even if they wanted to) and is why we were assigned a new one. No further explanation was given.
PM me if you have any questions and I'll be more than happy to tell you all that I can.

I wanted to post my timeline, so that it may help others who are just entering this process to understand how long things take. Hope it helps.
It does help! Thanks for sharing this with us.

You as the petitioner must fill out the AOS forms. Your husband (the beneficiary) is not required to.
AOS=adjustment of status....... I am not sure what this has to do with the affidavit of support.... I was asking.... Do I or Do I not have to have a affidavit of support with the K-3 visa.. this is for my hubby.. I have read several different things on this...
AOS ALSO means Affidavit of Support. Yes, you DO have to file the I-134 to show that you can take care of your husband prior to adjustment of status where you will file the I864.

Lol, looks like some were somewhat confused when reading your post!
Yes, you as the petitioner of a K3 must supply the affidavit of support, I-134, (not I-864) for your husband. He'll need to have this to submit to VFS prior to his interview at the embassy.
I was not in the least confused given that AOS means two separate things.
Seeing as how AOS is more 'generally' used for Adjustment of Status (probably to avoid confusion), it only made sense to assume that there was a little confusion about what the OP 'meant', nothing more. She just wanted to know if an affidavit of support I-134 was required at the time interview. It was not by any means an intent to insult, so please do not take it that way. No hard feelings, ok? It's all good.

Thanks for the humor. Would a temporary tattoo do? : )
Look the point is I love him and he loves me.
Glad you got a little smile then Verde. You and your husband are in my prayers for sure!
A temporary is likely to raise further questions. I would avoid one of those in this case.
I will ask my girl if I can send you a picture of her tattoo. You will love it!
I feel like I'm in a Kafka novel, or the book 1984, or some other crazy place where people have subjective power but no oversight, rules and regulations but no obligation to follow them ... I think it would be better if interviews were conducted by panels, not by individuals. At least then if one member was bias, or in a bad mood, or was inappropriate, there would still be two reasonable, just, and fair members to rule that one out. That's why we have juries and the Supreme Court. Oh well. I'm fantasizing about social justice again ....
Thanks everyone for all of your advice. I will take Kathryn and Starlight's advice and take what I want and need and leave the rest. I learned yesterday that there's no reason to fight with eachother. We're all on the same team. It's all the contradictions and confusion and changing rules and subjective nonsensical decisions on behalf of our immigration system that is causing us to be angry with eachother.
Verde
What it is, you are frustrated and you spend so much time on Visa Journey wanting people to hear you and TRUST me we do. People have given you advice there is not much more that can be said... I still say you need to have faith, pray and maybe take a break from VJ until a decision is made. Then you can give us ONE post and tell us how things worked out...
Not to mention, you have members on here having debates about YOUR issues. You really need to give all this a break for awhile...
The above was extremely rude and uncalled for. Take care to remember that we are all human beings, not animals to be kicked and smacked around whenever the mood suits.
Verde doesn't need to give anyone a break as this is an immigration forum she can ask whatever she wants pertaining to same. If you don't like to read her posts then make it YOUR choice, but please do not presume to speak for others.

Okay, let me toss a jar of sugar across the border!
I am sorry but your story made me laugh so hard that I woke my husband up! I know it was not meant to be funny but I just don't know why I laughed. As I was reading, I was trying to imagine the scenario and the horror you went through. From what I notice, people here drive so courteously (is that even a word?) compared to people in my country, so it's like they will forgive you when you made a mistake while learning. If that same thing happened to me back home, all the drivers will be cursing, honking, you name it, whether or not you're a student or a regular driver.
I remember when I did my lessons back home, 12 years ago, I also had my parallel parking thing and we have this white and red poles around the parking space, at the practice arena. My instructor was sitting with his friends, conversing and sipping his coffee. I was going forward, reverse, forward, reverse with a stick shift and tight steering wheel. I had my windows down, sweating like crazy in that 100 degrees heat and guess what, I ended up knocking down all the 20 poles and the car was still not parked right. My instructor just shook his head and other student drivers were laughing! So embarrassing!!
Now come to think of it, I think I am a terrible driver! LOL.... I have so many horror, crazy stories just popped up! LOL..
Cheers..
A cup of sugar? Anytime! My fiancee was going to learn to drive the car before he goes to the interview lol. He lasted all of 1 lesson. It was really cute. I know how to drive a stick shift and I remember those days. Well apparently his instructor took him somewhere busy and he kept stalling the car. I think he was a little embarrassed to go back. I had to tell him my horror story which was much worse. I got stuck at the top of a hill in the middle of an intersection and like to never got the car cranked back because I was so nervous. Traffic was having to go around me in the intersection. It was traumatic lol, but I did eventually learn. He was very glad to hear that my car is not a stick shift. He's thinking about being a cab driver when he gets here lol...we will see how that turns out.
May take you up on that cup of sugar!
Ah, horror stories of drivers ed! One time when I was 16 and having a lesson as well, I was at this intersection and was supposed to make a right turn. Well, I made a right turn alright but drove too far into the middle of the intersection and made the right turn into the 'left turning lane' of the cars going to the left or opposite direction! Then she (the instructor) started screaming and I started screaming. I stopped right there in the middle of the road not knowing what else to do, then all the cars coming towards me stopped and just sat there staring at us even though they could have kept going since it wasn't their lane I was in. They were all looking at us with the most puzzled expression, not angry, just puzzled. I couldn't move forward and couldn't go backwards and didn't know how to get out of that mess until some guy stepped out of his vehicle and motioned for us to pull into a parking lot entrance in front of his car. Needless to say the driving instructor and me both had to take a break before proceding with that lesson. Even today I still get the weeby-jeebies whenever I think about it.
Lol,my son came in and said whatchya laughing about mommy while reading your post. Yours made me feel like mine was less tramatic!! And soooo happy I didn't knock down any poles!
Isn't it strange though that in situations like these (where no injury or physical harm is done) that we'll sometimes break out laughing hysterically?

I am soooo excited... I recieved the NOA1 for my I-129F... I wish everything would be processed this smoothly... So now I assume that this is where the waiting game begins... Correct me if I am wrong.. but I shouldnt be expecting anything else from the USCIS for a couple of months... and the next thing will be the NOA2... Is there anything that I should be doing while I am waiting?
p.s. .... are we there yet?
hehehe
Hi Melody,
I would suggest you begin researching / educating yourself (if you haven't already) on what documentation you'll be required to submit to the Embassy prior to the Interiew date. Some of these docs may take a little time and effort to attain (such as the PCC's from the local police district and passport office) and some not so much time and little effort.
Once you received your Letter of Approval from USCIS you can have your husband begin working on his PCC's. To give you an example of our experience, the Ghaziabad Passport office took a little less than 3 months to complete my SO's PCC this 2nd time (2009) yet only a little more than 5 weeks the first time (2008). So I would think it's a good idea to get started on these upon receipt of your NOA2.
Go to your Embassys website and retrieve the information on Packet 3 and Packet 4.
BTW, Happy to know you got your NOA1.

I read this, which was posted by EWOK:
As a note: This visa option is automatically applied for by K-3 applicants when they file the I-130 (part of the K-3 process). Historically the K-3 was used to allow the US Citizens spouse to enter the US faster than waiting for the I-130 to be approved (since that used to take a long time). Recent reductions in processing times have allowed I-130's to be approved quick enough that the IR1/CR1 visa process has been a quicker and better option for K-3 applicants. If this happens the K-3 applicant can abandon the K-3 route and persue the IR1/CR1 instead.
But the Embassy has discouraged me from "switching" to a CR1, and other posters have said that once our I-130 is at the Embassy, we are no longer eligible for a K3 Visa anyway.
I just don't know where to turn, as I get conflicting information everywhere I turn.
Even the Chief Consular at the Embassy asked me why I'd want to go with a CR1.
Perhaps the Embassy requiring you to submit the I-864 is 'because' of their having knowledge and possession of your CR1? The Embassy's are known for their elusiveness at times when replying to inquiries, so try not to over stress about it. Also, even if it doesn't specifically state on your blue slip to submit additional evidence that you deem would be benefificial to your case, do so anyway if there's anything at all you can add to support your case.
And why do you say 'first' interview? Has the Embassy informed your husband that he'll be scheduled for a 2nd one?

Ooooh this is an amazing thread....
Okay... a little background about me. The last time I actually drove a car was like maybe the day I passed my driving test, 12 years ago, back in my country! And I always had someone drive for me back home. When I got here, I know cars are like our legs, you basically can't go anywhere anytime without knowing how to drive. I need to get a job but I need to learn how to drive first. My mother-in-law offered me her old car (Buick, imagine that LOL) so I can drive and of course also to driver her around since my husband does not allow her to drive anymore.
So, I went to DMV and got my permit a few days ago! Yay!!
Excited and nervous at the same time. My husband told me that he will teach since hiring an instructor is totally out of the question, too expensive. I am a little disappointed since I was looking forward to learn with an instructor and my husband is a very impatient person. I know he would yell at me whenever I make a mistake! Anyways, I have no choice but to accept the fact that he is going to be the one teaching me.
Today, before he left for work, he suggested that we go for a quick 15 minutes practice....Boy, I was nervous but I was more surprised! He was so patient and never did yell at me!! LOL... I made so many mistakes and was driving so slow but he was encouraging me the whole time. I tried to park but I did so bad!
Now that he is at work and the car is sitting outside, man I really feel the urge to grab the keys and practice on my own but I know I can't do that!! But then, I am so looking forward to my next lesson! Hehehe.....
By the way, anyone of you live in Charlotte, NC?
Cheers..
That's sweet your mother in law offered you her car. You can get a lot of practice and learn some valuable information from her, both about driving and your husband lol. You can strategically pry her for information about all the crazy and embarrassing things he did as a kid.
Instructors in NC are outrageous and the schedules are horrible for trying to go to their classes. At least around here. I live in The northern part of NC, about 4 hours from Charlotte. You are most likely better off with the personalized lessons you are getting now
I'm glad your hubby is being patient. If today was only your first lesson for so long, I wouldn't worry too much about not being a great parker. That's kind of scary because you have to get so close to so many cars lol. I remember learning to drive and I was so nervous about parking. You will get better quick though, it's surprising how quick. There have been some great tips posted in this thread. I'm glad you found it now when you need it! My day to teach driving is coming up soon.
Hey we're neighbors!! Mind if I borrow a cup of sugar? I'm in the state just above you two, Virginia Beach, Va.
Oh, those anticipated driving lessons...I'm having mine get his IDP, or international drivers permit so that he'll be legal and just about ready and set to go. The main thing I'm nervous about is 'his' nervousness about driving on the wrong side of the car 'and' (acording to him), the wrong side of the road. Additionally, he has to get used to driving an automatic which he's never in his life ever done. So his foot is going to have to get used to there not being a clutch. I can just imagine it when he drives over here for the first time....brrrrm-screech-brrrrm-screech-brrrrm-screech! Lol!
Most definately, It's going to be interesting for sure. But I still can't help but look forward to it.

Why do they do that? Mine has the worst habit of doing everything last minute...drives me bonkers!

He refuses to fix my bike, well partly is my fault as I keep falling from the bike and keep hurting myself but well he should fix my bike anyways, doesn't matter how many times I fall
He is now bossing me around telling me how I need to wear my helmet and all the blah blah
Awwww, Trinket, thats sooooo cute, your hubby being so protective over you like that! I just love it.

Thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed watching Mani perform his dance. It was really cool!

Thank you k.loveh! I had read on here many times of individuals not getting their information back. I was fully prepared not to turn in anything too meaningful lol.
Lol, yeah, I know what you mean...I believed the same in the beginning and was very insecure about it. But Delhi does seem to be sensitive to this.
-
I would rather her get them done in USA because my paranoia's more important than money.. [WISHFUL THINKING] I'm hopeing by the time she's actually in Florida they would say its no longer required to get that gardasil ####### shoved in her system. [/WISHFUL THINKING]
Can't say that I blame you on this one, Baltar. I would want the same if it were my love. They should pull it off the market in my opinion. Too many negatives.
-
it'd be awesome if mumbai consulate lets me go in for the interview, that'll make things soo much easier..
but from what i heard often they dont allow this.
Do you mean going into 'the Embassy' with her? Or Going to stand right there beside her as she;s being interviewd?
If it's the former, I am telling you for sure that you will be allowed into the Embassy with your wife on the 'the' day of her interview.
If you're indeed going to be there, then you'll find this out soon enough on your own. Then you can share your experience with all of your friends at VJ!
Take care and Good Luck!
-
Submit 'most' all of it 7-10 days before your interview date. I say 'most' because there are a 'few' little items you won't submit at VFS such as your Passport, your x-ray from your medical exam and if applicable, your divorce decree. Can't think of anything else right now...
You will also get all your proofs of relationship returned to you, i.e., cards, letters, photos, etc. once you're approved or not approved your visa.
Thanks Karen for pointing that out..b/c I was only thinking about the proof of relationship and DS forms.
Lol, yeah...me too at first, and then I thought of these last minute!
-
Patience indeed.....it is a very good lesson/virtue to learn. Just that the 'testing' of same can be a pain as we are all well aware.
Melody...you're going to get a lot of support here during your journey and when your patience has been sorely bruised, just vent it out as much as you like. I'm here if you ever need me.
Take care, love!
