  1. Visa Journey was a key feature in helping me get here 12 years ago but wondering who can help me with all my questions about moving back to the UK? We want to get there soon but I spoke with a lawyer, the UK passport office and embassy here - all gave conflicting information 🤪

I have dual citizenship UK/USA. US husband and we have 3 children together all born in the US. We all have US passports. Only I have a UK passport.

Not sure my best option as both require me to send my UK passport in the required documents.

1 - Apply online for my 3 children to get their first UK passports first?

2 - Apply for my husband's Spouse Visa first? Do our children have to be added to this as dependents?

3 - Fly to the UK and start applying for kids passports and husband's visa with no intention of returning to the US? (probably dumb but I hear it can be done)

Anyone out there got some insider knowledge? Thank you!

  2. Hey there everyone, I've searched all the forums and can't find what I'm looking for,

My new baby girl was born last month here in the USA. I have my green card, everything is legitimate but can someone point me in the direction of how I get her registered in the UK and get her a British passport? I know I have to send forms to Washington DC but I can't for the life of me find a step by step guide or help page.

    Thanks

    JoJo

  3. Thanks for the info everyone. I actually want to get it done before baby but I didn't want to go filling out all the paperwork only to find I'd need to add new baby's info once he/she was born. I know how much we all hate filling out those forms. There's no real hurry for me to do it other than, the longer I leave it, the more stress it creates. I think I'll start this weekend so it's all done and dusted.

  4. Hey folks, been a while since I was on Visa Journey but I'll be back again soon.

I'm able to start my naturalization process on 3rd March 2013 but my baby is due end of April. Should I get it over and done with asap or should I wait for baby? I'm not sure if the change in our family will affect what I write in the forms or not. Any experts out there have any advice?

  5. Sorry to hear that... :( Adding jojo_gee to CSC list :) (Your VJ Timeline says NOA date is 12/23. Is that Receipt Date on your NOA letter?)

FYI, you can only apply for citizenship 3 years after AOS approval date. Don't mix it up with 3 year wedding anniversary ;)

Yes, date on NOA letter was 12/23 but the date on the RFE is actually 05/26. Thanks for clearing up the citizenship info!

  6. I'm so upset as they have asked for a RFE. I sent them everything I could possibly have sent in but they claim it wasn't enough. They want proof of mortgage (em hello, we live in San Francisco), proof of shared credit cards, proof of motor insurance, medical insurance, life insurance, joint assets, financial loans.

We rent our apartment and I included a letter from my landlady as we don't have a lease anymore as we are month to month after the first year. We don't own a car, we have no assets, we've never had a financial loan of any description. My name is on his credit card but they didn't accept any proof of that. We have a shared bank account and I sent in all the proof but they claim I never. I sent them joint medical insurance but they said I never. And to top it all off, I foolishly never kept a copy of the last package I sent in December, grrrrrrrrrrr. I could in theory be applying for my citizenship right now as we've just had our 3 year anniversary but I figure I need to get my 10 year green card first. Honestly, this paperwork sucks.

    Happy motherf'ing Friday!

  7. Yes. Both the sponsor and the LPR need to change their address within 10 days of moving.

    Sponsor completes I-865

    LPR here: https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=coa

** moved from "Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from Family Based Visas" to General Immigration Related Discussion as this isn't a question about the AOS process specifically, more a general Immigration "question"/need for definition**

Thank you so very much. I'm on to it straight away. XX

  8. Kinda of off topic but in the year I have lived in the USA, not one person has noticed/guessed I'm from Scotland. Yes I have red hair and a funny accent and really, I'm not that bothered but it leaves me wondering when ALL the time I get -

'What brought you here from Ireland' or

    'Ah, so you're Irish' or

'Have you been back home to Ireland yet' or

'What part of Ireland are you from' !!

So I then say, no, I'm actually from Scotland. Bingo. That's when I get the long winded heritage stories about what clan they belong to and what percentage they are Scottish etc. I'd have thought out of everyone, these folk would be able to guess but no, not once. The first person I meet who can guess I'm Scottish is getting a drink bought for them!!

  9. I like your words. I really try to buy local fresh food when I can. If I ate meat, I can assure you I would NEVER buy my meat in the supermarket. I really hope the way the world mass produces food in the worst possible way will change. If everyone made an effort to go out of their way to shop at their local butcher, fishmonger, bakery, fruit n veg shop...we'd all be healthier and supermarkets wouldn't be so super anymore.

  10. I disagree because who would pay for it if you didn't pay for it? Taxes are high enough already :-)

This was not supposed to be a political discussion. Do you really believe what you just said though? It's bad enough we pay taxes on sanitary protection.

  11. I almost want to be really cheeky and find out which of my friends back home are on it and ask them to send me over another 6 months! I don't have health insurance either. Everytime I say that out loud, I touch wood. Contraception should absolutely be free worldwide, its astonishing that it isn't.
