My dad had his interview ( IR-5) and got the immigrant visa to US. He'll be coming here in 3 weeks and I was wondering if anybody could tell me when we will recieve the actual green card and social security? Do we need to contact the immigrationoffice or is it automaticlay issued?

I am an Iranian and my dad is going to have an imigrant visa interview in Abu dhabi. I was wondering if anybody could share your parents interview experience with me. How long did it take for the embassy to issue your parents a visa? Did they have to come back? Im really woriied. I know its difficult for my dad to fly to UAE twice.

I'm going to send my dad a copy of my 2007 tax returns. I hope everything goes smoothly. Does anybody know under what circumastances they might deny the visa??

I emailed te US embassy in UAE with questions regarding my father's immgrant visa interview, and they replied

I am a US citizen and my father has an immigrant visa interview in Sept in Abu dhabi.

I have 2 questions:

1: I have paid all the visa fees to NVC, does my father need to pay any visa fees again? NO

2: I have sent all the financial documents ( Affidavit of support, tax returns and etc..) to NVC and they forward it to the embassy. I undrestand I don't need to send it again, correct? Please let me know what documents are needed for the interview. No you don’t need to send it again. However, if you had included your 2007 tax documents at that time, please fax a copy to your father to bring with him

So, it means I have to send my 2007 tax returns to my dad? I don't undrestand why they ask for it again if they already have it.

My case was competed on July 25th 2008. I chcked the DHL and noticed that NVC sent a package to Abu Dabi (our embassy) the same day.

Do you think my case might have been among those papers? or does it take longer for them to sent it to the embassy?

Hi everyone,

NVC recieved my father's ds-230 on July 16 and its being processed.

I am so nervous like all of you out there and I sometimes I start to wonder...

What if they deny my dad's visa because he used to be in Army from 1973 to 1979

I know its silly to think that way but you never know. My dad is from Iran and military records are not available in Iran.

Any comments ??

I am getting ready to send DS230 and needed documents to nvc for immigrant visa for my father and I need to send my birth certificate and marriage certificate. I have 2 questions?

1: My fathers case is not marriage based, Do I still have to send them the original marriage certificate.

2: If I send the original Birth certificate and marriage certificate whats the chance of them losing it. ( Im really worried, and don't undrestand NVC'S POLICY)
