  1. Hi! Quick question:

Our NOA2 expires this week without my fiancee having yet received her interview date...

Does anyone know if the BKK consular office extends the validity of an NOA2 if they haven't yet provided an interview appointment?

I read that the Phillipine Embassy does that (at four month intervals), but I'm not sure about BKK.

    Thanks!!!

    Jose

  2. Hi everybody,

first, I'm pleased to say that I've just received my K1 NOA2 (after just 2.5 months.) To all who are waiting... HANG IN THERE, IT'LL COME!

Does anyone know if the consulate can postone my fiancee's interview date in the event it's scheduled before I can make it there?

I'll be able to travel to Bkk in late May, and would really like to be there before her interview date!!!

    Anybody know???

    Thanks!!!!

Watch the date on the NOA2, because it is only good for a fixed period of time. I was approved on Dec 19th and my NOA2 expires on 4/18.

Thanks for the reply and tip! I don't see an expiration date on my NOA2, or validity period. Where do you see that yours expires on a specific date?

  4. Hi!

Nobody at USCIS seems to be able to definitively answer this question: is a sponsor's Montgomery GI bill honored as income on the Affidavit of Support form? This is a question to which no USCIS represantative I've spoken with has an answer for. Any one have experience with this scenario?

    Thanks!

    Which affidavit of support?

If the I-134, then why are you talking to the USCIS?

If the I-864 then why is this posted in the K-1 forum?

The Montgomery GI Bill - is a benefit that may be used for degree and certificate programs, flight training, apprenticeship/on-the-job training and correspondence courses.

Sounds like a tuition reimbursement program to me

I know what the GI Bill is- I am a recipient of it. An I-864 is part of the K1 Visa application process, that's why I posted this question in the K1 forum.

  5. :time: It will make it a lot easier for people to answer you. ;)

In answer to your question, no. As long as that person is a USC and meets the criteria you should be all set. That being said, if you are still at the interview stage, you will want to check with the Consulate in Thailand and what their requirements are as far as the affidavit of support is concerned as each Embassy has different 'rules'.

If you are talking about the interview stage of the K1 process you will both be filling out I-134 not I-864. See this link.

If you are talking about I-864 and are married and at the Adjustment stage of the process you should be all set.

Thanks for the great info... again!

  6. You don't need to be employed full time (the employer letter example states 'full time', perhaps thats where you saw it(?)) ...but all they care about is that you make that 125%. I'm self-employed and most would not consider it 'full time' but I make more than enough. ;) If you do not, simply explain your circumstances and find yourself a joint-sponsor.

You can find some good tips here.

Yes, that's where I saw it! Thanks for your reply!

  7. HI all,

Through the Guide I've learned that full time employment is necessary for a petitioner to obtain an I129 approval for his fiancee. My worry is that I'm a full-time college student receiving the GI bill to pay for tuition and living expenses. I have a rather substantial savings, too. Is there any way to obtain I129 approval and subsequent K1 in such a situation? Please!!!

    Cheers!
