  1. People who received pink slips in the Philippines at US embassy feel so happy, excited, relieved, and say "finally" visa approved! Thanks God. But here in US, when people received pink slips (laid off) :( from their company, everything falls apart and life getting pressured with the economic tensions and say "God help me". See the irony of Pink Slips???

...no i dont see any irony....nah really you think? DUH!!

  2. Maybe its just me but it really really turns me off when they ask me. Sometimes i don't know how to reply. Usually if its ym I just stop answering but if its in person... really caught me off guard. I don't want to be rude but sometimes when i'm not in the mood i really shove them off and act so mean. I guess I'm too serious :o My husband doesn't like it too and said it gives some Filipina a bad name. Like what would their intention be? If its for money or love... we wouldn't really know right? I just don't want to take the risk and be blamed afterwards. One wrong move by a Filipina could easily be judged by the entire world. Sad but it is true. Not all people are open-minded.

...apparently you are not so open minded to be irritated with such question..especially if you have endured the hardship life in the Philippines..coz if you are open minded it shouldn't bother you at all

  3. hello again to my fellow visajourney goers! Hope you are all ok and happy with your loved ones! I know it's hard to be separated but I hope for those who are still waiting for their visas, you'll get it soon! Just always be positive :)

Anyways, I just one question and need your opinion about this. Do you guys find it so irritating (or seems not right) when your fellow Pinays ask you this "uy hanap mo naman ako ng papa dyan... or sino ang irereto mo sa akin dyan?" -translation- (hey, could you find me a lover there? or do you have somebody who you can introduce me to?" It really turns me off when my friends,so-called friends or even just somebody i worked with at the office ask me those. It seems for me that they only want a ticket to go to the USA. Sounds like it for me... but this is just my opinion. I might be getting paranoid too from not having enough sleep. lol No pms yet! Can't help but to think.. can't you find your own man? :bonk:

Just want to know your opinion about this kind of attitude.

it is more sympathy than irritating...simply the fact that hardship of living is inevitable in the Philippines..

    What do you expect?

  4. Ok, tomorrow is D-Day for us!! My fiancee's embassy interview (March 25th Manila time). Like everyone else, all the "What if...." questions keep popping in my head hehe.

Should I call the embassy to make sure they have received the medical exam? It was done last tuesday.

Also, since St. Luke's keeps the passport, does my fiancee show the embassy guard any picture ID? She has the appointment confirmation email, I'm assuming she needs some sort of picture ID.

Can my fiancee's grandmother go to the embassy with her?

Any other last minute things to keep in mind? Our future is decided tomorrow!!!

Thanks to all, and I will update when I hear from my fiancee.

    Craig

you and your fiancee will be just fine..at this point you should focus on the positive aspect..besides, if anything that can screw things up it would've been known long ago..chin up bro!

  5. Hi,

This is the first time I am posting anything so forgive me if this has already been asked before. My fiance will have his interview at the end of April in the US Embassy in Manila. I know that to petition for your fiance/fiancee that there is a required 2yrs of having met prior to when you decide to petition. We sent out papers beginning of 2008. The last time I saw my fiance was 2006. I haven't been able to visit him in the philippines for almost 3yrs because I am a full time student. Would they question my fiance why I havent visited him this whole time and perhaps see our relationship as not genuine? Would my going to the Philippines when he has his interview be of any benefit since it has been almost 3yrs since I have seen him? Money and free time for me are major reasons why I haven't had a chance to visit him.

We talk to each other as much as we can thru MSN and Skype, almost everyday in fact.

If anyone could please give me any feedback about this, it would be of great help.

The first requirement is the meeting of you and your fiancee within 2 years. You said the last time you seen her was 3 years ago..that alone didnt meet the requirement so you need to go back and meet her.

what are you saying?...they have NOA2 in hand, meaning they did meet such requirements...read carefully

  6. I believe it is 3 times however short he is. I believe 125% of the newest poverty guidelines would be approximately $18,400 for two people.

He would need to have about $17,700 ($5,900 X 3) in the bank. However, that is just to meet the minimum. Often they would want to see his earnings somewhat over that amount. I recommend he have proof of meeting the minimal income requirement for 2009 (employer letter + pay slips).

I dont think you would need $17k+ in the bank..however in your pay stub YES

  7. hey guys, i understand your frustration, i'm an august filer and feel sad too they started september, PB&JAM you have a very inspiring signature, i believe in that too, dont lose hope, miracles happen on Christmas, just have faith :)

    Good luck to all waiting...

    Amen to that too!

wow nothing again today, what do we do?

Just keep waiting. Nothing more we can do for now. Maybe...just maybe, you'll still get it before Christmas. I'm not checking next week as i'll be out of town. I guess my noa2 Christmas present wont arrive. :( this is depressing. i need a good cry. :crying:

  8. it makes me mad that i see previous timelines and some people receive their NOA1 like 4 days after submitting their I-129 package!!!

    whats going on Vermont!!??!!

filed on 7/3 and check cashed 7/23

Did you send it to them on the 3rd or they received it on the 3rd?

I also wonder if there is any relation at all between what happens at Vermont and California???

i sent it out 7-2 and was received on 7-3 @ CSC

regarding to relation between VSC and CSC?... not sure about that, but i think both have standard protocol in processing application...

bu then again its always been case by case..hope this will somewhat ease your mind..Best Regards to All!
