My ex and I separated 1.5 years ago after 4 years of marriage....
I sometimes have trouble dating bc I am still married and thats a big turn-off to guys. Plus, my ex has a girlfriend and she is LIVID with him bc we haven't formally "terminated" our marriage yet. (and they live together)
So, here's some details:
We are both friendly, no kids, no property, no $. We just want to walk in, end the marriage, walk out.
He has his stuff, I have mine...
Im' not going after him for anything, and he is not going after me for anything...we just want to move on with our lives.
How much is it to file joint? I don't have any extra money and he is struggling with the economy too.
Do we REALLY need a lawyer? I can't afford a lawyer.
We want to do this the CHEAPEST and SIMPLEST way possible.

I am having an argument with my mother about something.
A man she works with is a dual citizen of France and USA. (USA naturalized, French birth)
He said to her that when he retires in 10 years, he will live in France where he has property.
But, in order to maintain his naturalized US citizenship he will need to enter the US 1 time per year or lose it.
This man is supposedly highly educated and should know the process.
Is this true? I didn't think this is true. Could there be confusion somewhere?

I just recently went to Brazil and my sister in law and we were drinking choppe and she had a side of what looked like dark juice and my husband said it is called "grosalia?" (spelling?). He couldn't describe it for me.
But she would add it to the beer and make it more sweet. It was dark red or purple.
Anybody know what this is in english or if you can get it in USA? It was really good.

i believe in a better life for people and if it means living in the usa then great. but i feel like we're all just really rolling over and taking it by going about it the legal way. the unfairness of this really bothers me.
Don't be discouraged. Trust me, it's worth it. It is no fun being in this country without status. (I had to deal with my husband) You can never fully benefit from or live American life to the fullest. And by that I mean drivers license, SSN, work authorization, health care, 401K, social security, bank loans, mortgage, etc.
Maybe you can get some of these things as an illegal, but not all of them.
And then, there is everyday living your life in fear of getting caught, detained and deported.

Yes, they do have a bit of debris - the female just a bit around the nose, the male a bit more around the nose and just a bit around the eyes, but their ears look clean. I guess the vet will tell me what to do about that.
So they've both had accidents outside of the litterbox, even though they use the litterbox most of the time. For example, just now the girl crawled into bed with me and proceeded to urinate right next to my head. A few minutes later I saw her using the litterbox as normal. Any ideas what that's about?
Very common to get the runny nose after an environment change. It should clear up in a week or two.
The accidents are normal and only need your patience and correction. One thing that might help is to leave a little poop and pee in th box so they "know" thats where it belongs. My new kitten had accidents for a week and now never misses.

Why the hell should a Brit or German get to the USA without a visa over a Brazilian who had nothing to do with Sept 11? As an American in love with a Brazilian I can say that unless she has lots of assets and money she cannot even get here on a tourist visa. Where is the justice in the system? The people at the US embassies are so rude and crude to these people to such a loving, peaceful people as Brazilians. They no nothing of war. Why give so much grace to Mesico and not Brasil? I am totaly frustrated with the unjustifiable predjudism againts Brazilians. Life is about humanity and love and not about lawyers and what they believe is right. Rich people who come to the embassy can get a visa tp the US. Brazilian people are good people. There is no reason why they should be treated with such disrespect.

I feel your pain. But just think about how Mexicans feel also. Americans used to need simply a birth certificate to get into Mexico AND Canada.
A Canadian is offered the same convenience into America but, why aren't Mexicans?
I live in a heavily populated Brazilian area and only a handful are legal. Most of them probably wanted to come here legally, but it wasn't possible.
Many I talk to said they "tried" to get a visa but were turned away.
So they crossed through Mexico.

Outside of this "computer world", I am sure that a lot of people do not obey the law religiously either.

Is the non-USA partner a rarity where you live in the US?
For me it is a definite NO. There are no places you can go without Brazilians there. There are so many of them, that the streets are lined with Brazilain markets and boutiques.
When I went to Brazil, there was basically NOTHING I could bring back that I couldn't get here somewhere.
My husband probably speaks just as much Portuguese as English every day!!!
Restaurants, Hair Salons, Eye Doctors and Car Mechanics are open all over the place to serve the many Brazilian residents.
And...they don't speak English!
I went to a Brazilian meat market down my street and had to point and shake my head to get a piece of "mystery meat".

My husband is like addicted to it.
He stays on it for hours and watches videos in "you tube".
I created a profile for the hell of it. My only friends are his family, and I can't even talk to them.

Jenn, when I went to the vet, he told me that they can be neutered/spayed earlier than 6 months. Maybe there is a new technology nowadays?
I also saw a couple of kittens at the shelter (I am a browser) that have already been fixed and they were very small. (like 3 months old).

This site is very judgemental (and I fear that drives so many people away) - I've been told on here that my husband I got his adjustment "illegally" because he was on a tourist visa. While our journey was not as difficult as your's will be, if you ever need to talk, PM me.

My husband got me this guy for my birthday in March.

People are bitter about someone being here illegally? Then asking advice how to "shortcut" the system to THEIR benefit asking advice from those of us doing this legally? Absurd!
The original question is how does she go about getting her boyfried "legal". They WANT to do it legally. And the process does involve them being separated to wait out the waiver process. It is in no way a "shortcut". They will probably be waiting a LOT longer because of that.
None of us are angels, and if you make a mistake in your life and then genuinely want to make it right, help is available.
Your situation is quite common. And there is lots of support out there from others going through the waiver also for illegal presence.

Any special tips you can give to me to help the embassy in Sao Paulo grant a tourist visa for my step-daughter and father-in-law?
They want to visit my husband and I in America. I know it can be tough, so I was just wondering if anybody has had luck and if there is anything I can do to help them.
My husband is currently removing conditions.
