I have finally received the following from USCIS:
Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS
Your Case Status: Decision
On September 13, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before receiving your card, please call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.
During this step the formal decision (approved/denied) is written and the decision notice is mailed and/or emailed to the applicant/petitioner. You can use our current processing time to gauge when you can expect to receive a final decision.
And my congressperson helper person emailed me saying that I will receive an approval letter within 7 days and the card will come in 30 days! yippee!
good luck to those who are still waiting!!!
-
Ah... congrats to everyone that has been approved or get the interview dates! We filed for AOS on 16th Feb... and I'm still waiting
my case was touched on Aug 25th. So... hopefully it'll get approved soon!!! I'm really anxious!
-
I would say it's still at CSC. It was transferred to CSC and the email was to let you know it was received there (the USCIS office CSC) and is now being processed there. That's the common email to let you know it arrived.
Thank you for the clarification. I just wanted to make sure... though I find it funny that they only let me know they have received it after 6 months!!! gosh... but at least they didn't lose it

Hi everyone,
I have been waiting for my I-485 to be approved for 6 months now... It's frustrating but at least I have my EAD. My case was transferred to CSC in March 2010. Anyways, I was wondering if my case is still in CSC or has it been transferred to local USCIS office? I received an email from USCIS stating as below:
The I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you.
Does that mean it is still in CSC or has it gone to local? Has anyone received a similar email before?
Thank you.
Sincerely,
LC

We filed in the beginning of February and was transferred to CSC about a month or so after that. We are still waiting to hear from CSC about my husband green card. Due to the RFE that we recieved for the medical, we contacted a congressman. Well the congressman office contacted me in April to let me know that CSC still had our cases and it was within progressing time and that they were processing cases that were filed five months ago. That would have put them in NOV/DEC filers. I have no clue how CSC go about approving applicants. There have been some people who were approved from March , that I know of, that was CSC transferees.
Well, your husband and I are in the same boat. I contacted the congressman here for my medical as well and my case was transferred to CSC then. I filed mine in the beginning of February. I was lucky to get my EAD end of March/early April. I guess it all depends on luck on when we would get our green card. I just wish it's sooner!!
-
Did you get notification "case resumed processing at CSC"? My case was transferred 2 weeks ago and still no news that they received it.
My case was transferred 2 months ago and still no touch, nothing
I don't think they would send a notification of "case resumed processing" etc, unless you receive an RFE. I wonder how long this wait is gonna be
-
gosh... this is totally disconcerting
I really wish to get a green card soon, it's so much easier for everything else to be done in this country!!!
-
Hi everyone,
I've been waiting for my green card for 2 months now... anyone in the same shoe as I am??? I thought it only takes 1 month after CSC transfer... I guess I'm wrong. Does anyone know why it's taking so long??
Thank you.

I have just gotten married last month to my Husband who is the US Citizen, I am here in the US on the K-1 visa and we are putting the AOS forms together. Maybe its because im stressing out and worrying so much that its making me more and more confused so I hope one of you guys can help me!
It is about the I-693 forms. I have had my Medical back in London England but I opted to have my vaccinations once I arrive in the US, the only vaccination I need is the 2nd shot of my MMR, I had that vaccination with my Local Doctor just before I left England, but she couldnt give me the second shot because it HAS to be 2 weeks after the first shot and I was leaving the country in a few days (I know it was my fault for rushing and forgetting
). The Knightsbridge Doctors did not give me any envelope, they told me that they are sending my medical directly to the Embassy in London, how am I supposed to show them any evidence that I have had a medical back in London?
On top of that, I have requested to get certified copies of my Marriage certificate, but the lady told me it can still take 4-6 weeks to get them! What happens if I dont get my marriage certificate in time before my 90 days are up?
You should have your DS-3025 (vaccination record) from the panel physician back in the UK. Did she give you any copy of that? Coz if you have that, it's so much easier to ask the Civil Surgeon here to transcribe it into the I-693. I do think you need to complete the MMR shot.
As for your marriage cert. You could've gotten it done on the day itself if you took the marriage cert or something that you signed, i can't remember the name back to the Registry of Deeds and you'll get your copies there and then. But seems like you've past that, so now all you can do is wait... it's okay if you're after the 90 days... there's been a lot of speculations on that. but as long as you're married within 90 days and file for AOS as soon as you can after that, you'll be fine.
Cheers

What I have been doing is going to "Immigration Timeslines" and then "AOS Section". Sort by transfer date by clicking on the left blue arrow in the Transfer column. Start going from one page to the next page until you see the decision field showing entries. Then compare the transfer date with the decision date.
It seems like under two months HOWEVER, is also seems like things have come to a screetching hault as of mid March for some reason.
Thank you for the information
Argh.... I hope they speed it up soon!

Hi all,
To those that have their AOS cases transferred to the CSC, how long did it take you to get the Green Card?? How long between transfer and GC? I was just wondering when I will be getting my GC...
Thank you!

Hi all, can you help me review the cover letter list of items I have below to see if I'm missing anything. Someone said that I need four passport pictures one two for the I-485 & I765, I thought I only needed to send two?? Also I'm nos sending the I-131 should I??
• G-1145
* Payment in the amount of $ 1,010.
• Form I-485
• Non US Citizen Passport(I only made copies of three pages cover, visa & Stamp)
• K1 Visa
• NOA2 “Approval for I-129F”
• Form I-94
• Birth Certificate
• Certified marriage certificate
• Two passport-type photos
• G-325A
• I-693 Medical Examination
• I-864 Affidavit of Support & supporting documentation (letter from employer, paystubs, Federal Tax Returns 3yrs)
• I-765 Application for Employment Authorization
Anything Missing??
Thanks for your help
Rayito
You need 2 photos for each application form, i.e. 2 for I-485, 2 for I-765 and 2 for I-131.
I think you should apply for I-131, it's not hard to apply for it and it could be good use when there's an emergency back at home between now and getting a green card.
You don't have to submit any photos at all, they don't require any evidence of relationship except for the marriage cert.
Oh and make sure you compile all the documents according to the forms, I-485 and then all the documents needed, I-765 with documents, etc...
good luck

Thank you everyone
I hope good news arrive to everyone else too!!

If your EAD card has your married name and you got your passport in your married name, that is all you need to get your married name on your SSN record.
RM 10212.001 Defining the Legal Name for an SSN
https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/poms.nsf/lnx/0110212001
B. Evidence of legal name
2. Foreign born individual
A foreign-born person’s legal name is the name shown on his or her immigration document (includes hyphens and apostrophes).
The only time you may process an SSN application in a name that does not agree with the name shown on the immigration document is if the person legally changed his or her name after the immigration document is issued.
a. Name on immigration document and other evidence for an SSN are different
When the name shown on the immigration document differs from the name shown on other evidence submitted for an SSN, process the SSN in the name on the immigration document as long as the name can be derived from the other evidence (e.g., foreign passport).
You will need to wait until your AOS is approved and you have an I-551 stamp or card (Green Card) before you can be issued an unrestricted SSN card.
If you only want to change the name on your SSN record you can do that with your marriage certificate, but you will not be issued a SSN card until you have evidence of wirk authorization.
RM 10211.605 Request for a Replacement SSN Card Obtained for a Nonwork Purpose
https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/poms.nsf/lnx/0110211605
A. Correcting Numident data when a replacement card cannot be issued
If the alien does not provide evidence of work authorization or a valid nonwork reason, explain that we cannot issue a replacement card.
1. Alien provides documentation supporting the change
Although the FO cannot issue a replacement card, you may correct the Numident if the alien provides documentation supporting the change (e.g., a name change).
If the alien provides documentation supporting the change, process the replacement card application to update the Numident information but suppress the issuance of a card.
-- Answer “yes” to the "Suppress card issuance" question on the SSNAP Additional Information screen and record the nonwork reason documentation on the SSNAP Proof of Legal Alien Status screen.
--Provide written notice, using Form SSA-L676, to explain that we cannot issue a replacement card because the applicant did not present appropriate authorization permitting him or her to work in the U.S. and has not provided evidence of a valid nonwork reason for an SSN.
Thank you!!

Is there a link or instructions that directly states what a CS is supposed to do in the case of a pre-examed K1 visa holder who does not need an exam? Specifically, where does it say that the CS need only transcribe the information from the DS-3025 form. The DS-3025 instructions are a little vague.
If I can find this, then it would help as supporting evidence when talking to a CS clerical worker when requesting our needs.
Thanks.
Hi... I hope this will help you. Look into this website: I-693 Instructions
Under Page 4 of the Instructions: Section III, Item 2. It says if your DS-3025 (Vaccination Record from USCIS designated panel physician back in your home country) is NOT complete, you are REQUIRED to submit Part 1, Information about you, Part 2, the vaccination chart and Part 5, the civil surgeon's certification, of form I-693.
I received an RFE even though I did all these, which is following the instructions. I sent in I-693 (not the full medical but only the transcribe vaccination part as above) and a copy of my DS-3025. I advise you when you send in your AOS package, send in the I-693 Instruction Page 4 and highlight the Section III, Item 2 to them. This will hopefully let the USCIS person who handles your case to understand that you do not need a full medical as long as you filed within a year of your medical exam back in home country. This will hopefully "eliminate" any I-693 RFEs.
Good luck!!

You can change your name on your SS card at any time - all you have to do is provide documentation proving the legality of that name change (your marriage certificate).
Thanks for the reply. I wanted to change my name on SSN to my married name after getting marriage cert. However, when we went to the SSA office, they told us that I can't change my name as my I-94 was going to expire soon... so now, I was wondering if I haven't gotten my greencard yet but after receiving my EAD, will I be able to change to my married name? Oh and I filed my AOS under my married name.
-
Hi all,
I was just wondering about changing names and also my work status on SSN. Currently, it's still under my maiden name and "Work authorization only with DHS approval". My AOS under K-1 has been transferred to CSC. My EAD has been approved and the EAD production has been ordered. So I was wondering when my EAD comes in, would the EAD document be sufficient enough for me to change my name to my married name on SSN? Or do I have to wait for my green card??
Thank you!
Cheers

oh my gosh! i hope that it will not be returned to me because of the march 31st revision of the form.
I don't think they will return it back to you coz of the new revision. The new revision will not apply to you as you didn't file after March 31st. You should be fine
good luck!

Here's (hopefully) the final update.
The Congressman's office have been chasing my medical for weeks and I've been calling them or e-mailing them daily. The medical is a year old in about a weeks time. I had finally given up yesterday and booked a medical for next Monday and the USCIS were gracious enough to extend my deadline as that has now passed.
I then got an e-mail today from the Congressman's Office;
It's been a long ride, but it might finally be coming to an end!
Oh wow.... I just read your whole thread of this post and I find it so amazing. I myself had an RFE for medical and contacting the congressman really helped. I'm glad they helped in your case as well. Bravo for being so patient!!
-
Hi Scott & LC,
Thanks for your response... sure enough, I received the RFE in the mail yesterday for the I693. I took my chances by not submitting it along with the initial application. Off to the civil surgeon next week to get the vaccinations transcribed and will be sending in a letter explaining that I do not need a new medical since mine was done in December for the K1.
Thanks a million!
Good luck! I think it's best if you send in the I-693 Instructions, Section III page where it specifies K-1 admissions do not need a new medical and highlight those portions!

Hello VJers,
First time posting, long time troller. I want to say thank you for this site as it has prevented a lot of stress when going through the K1 and AOS process
Anyway, I filed my AOS and EAD back on March 1, 2010. Everything was received and my biometrics appointment is on April 5, 2010. I have been religiously checking my case status on USCIS. I have apparently been given a RFE in relation to my I-485, and according to the website the letter for the RFE was sent on March 19, 2010. It's now March 25, 2010 and I realize that these are time sensitive yet I still have not received my letter explaining what the RFE is about.
Should I be worried that I have yet to receive anything in mail?
Thanks
Hi... sorry to hear that you received an RFE. I received mine exactly a week after the notification on the USCIS website. So just see if you get it by this week! *hugs*
