  1. Well, hello everyone. I am back. I see we have new members and new developements. Onekea, i see you have been busy "welcoming" your husband here. wink, nod, snickers...lol  Congratulations. We are doing great. Heading into the hole again to get the stepkids here. Suze, so sorry about what you are going through, that Guyanese embassy is a joke. They just like being nasty to people. Good luck. How is everyone else doing?

Hi all...How is everyone doing today? Thank you Sassythea. Onekea congradulations on the pending addition to your family, it does the heart good to hear good news. Mrs. Rowe welcome back...good luck with the petitons for your children. LadyC welcome I take it you are from Guyana.

    Thanks Ladies!!!

Well it's good to see some activity in this thread again!

MrsRowe good luck with your stepsons. I think things are moving much faster now than when we were filing.

Nikki'T', I hope all is well with you and hope that you have made some progress with your case.

Welcome LadyC!!!! And best wishes to everyone!!! And please come back and continue to post. I am at home and bored to death...just waiting for baby to come.. :luv:

  2. I'm not sure if it made a big difference, but I did attend my husband's interview in GT a year ago today. We were approved and picked up the visa the next day. They did interview us separately, but with the embassy you just never know what they are really looking for. You sound like you are prepared for this, so if you cannot make it, just make sure your husband goes there confident. There was another guyanese on VJ that did not go to her husband's interview and he was approved just fine. Good luck!!

  3. Hi all!

I'm still here from time to time. Today marks one year since my hubby and I had our interview in GT. All is well with us. Hubby is working and going to school and we are expecting our a little bundle of joy in June :luv: . I want to wish everyone still trying to get their SO over here the best of luck. I don't know how that embassy decides who give a hard time  , but keep the faith and go in their with confidence.

I will do my best to keep in touch...

  4. Hey Ladies,

I'm back from Guyana and my hubby is with me. The embassy was just fine. They interviewed us separately. My husband went first and then they asked me the same questions they asked him. Nothing offensive at all, just when and how we met, how many times did I visit after we got married, if it was my 1st time there when we met, I explained that we had a small wedding and then a big vow renewal so she asked who was there...that kind of stuff. My husband answered the questions and then some and even got to show some wedding pictures. He was in there for like 15 minutes and I almost lost my mind. But we got through it...thank God!

    So ladies...there is hope!!!

Still praying for you all...and I will do my best to continue to post here

  5. Okay, so Mya and i went to do the mouth swab yesterday. It was a little more to it than i thought. They use 4 of those q-tip looking things to swab both cheeks, you have to have photo id. They take a picture of you too. Michael is going to do his today, that will be sent back via fedex today i hope. If it can be in the US by the end of this week, it would be so nice. Then it will be done by the end of next week and on it' way back to Guyana and Michael's visa can be issued quickly. Aww man, hurry, hurry, hurry.lol. Okay, i am a little anxious. :bonk:

You are well within your right to be anxious. Put on your dancing shoes your reunion is right around the corner.

Oh my gosh, fedex has it already. wohoo. All they need to do now is deliver it to Genelex by the end of this week and they will be well within my estimation. I hope that they are done with testing by the end of next week.

    Hey Ladies,

MrsRowe looks like things are moving along and your hubby will be here soon..

I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while. I got my interview date. Its on March 5. I came on here to post last week but I'm the type of person to keep this kind of stuff to myself and the nerves got the best of me. I am now preparing to go back down to GT for the interview...I am soooooo nervous. MrsRowe how long did it take for you to get your interview letter or for your hubby to get his? The weeks are going s fast...now I see how you felt last month :blink: I need prayer...

Oh my gosh. Congratulations. Don't worry it's going to be okay. Wohoo. I am so excited for you.

It appears to me that if the tow parties are at the interview then they may interrogate you a bit but as long as you are confident in your answers, there should be no problem. I will pray for you. One of us are getting through this process without any hitch. It's going to be you. Just be confident in your answers and you will be fine. Don't let them intimidate you.

    Oh my goodness. :dance::dance:

    Thanks Mrs Rowe!

I think we will be fine with answering questions because there is nothing to hide. But my stomach is still in knots...maybe its the fact that someone else has power over my future or that this whole process is coming to an end. Thanks for the prayers...I need them LOL

  6. Hi Ladies -

So nice to know there are others like me out there - I need to talk to people who understand my plight or I will lose my mind! Here are questions that COULD be asked on any interview, anywhere in the world. However, note, that in guyana they have no shame and ask some of the nastiest, most personal questions. I don't think that's necessary but nothing we can do about it. I am going to find a way to report that though. I don't think they are within their legal limits with some of the questions they asked me.

    I hope the questions help.............

    Goodmorning ladies:

Oneka congradulations on your interview date

Munesh & Suz Thank you for sharing with us. I do agree with you about the way couples are treated at the embassy, wish you much success on filing your report in regards to the matter.

Mrs. Rowe you are a day closer..

    Have a blessed day.

    Thanks Nikki'T!!!!

  8. I'm so sorry they are putting you through this (F)(F)

I don't understand though...your daughter is in the U.S....its not like you were filing for her to come here...

    Exactly.

I have already contacted my congressman's office. I called the embassy trying to reach a manager or something but they said that there is no manager.

It seems they could not find any other reason to delay the case. I hope your congressman can do something about this. It makes no sense to me. Still praying for you. This really scares me.

  9. I have spoken to a co-worker who used to work in an embassy as a visa interviewer. She put it correctly, she said it depends on what kind of day the interviewer is having or the type of person they are. She said to just make sure that all your papers are well organized and like everyone said, just be confident when they ask questions. Don't get upset or offended cause it only causes problems. Most of the time, they know if you are approved before they call you up for the interview. Some cases will be simple while some will require futher questioning. I have organized a folder of evidence for my husband and i should have taken pictures of it to give others ideas but this is what i did.

I used a folder with a clear cover and created a cover for it that included our case number, applicant name, date and time of interview. Inside of that, the first page is a letter written by me, explaining all that is in the folder and a little something about our daughter needing her father, blah, blah blah. Then i divided the folder into sections, photographs, phone cards, money transfers, child, visits. I explained what was in each section. In the section for child, i had our daughter's birth certificate, a letter from my doctor stating on or around when she was concieved, which coincides with my visit to Guyana and her offering up certificate which lists my husband as her father. In visits section, i included passport stamps and ticket stubs and boarding passes. I could not fit the cards and letters in the folder, so i sent two manilla envelopes, one with cards and letters sent to me by him and another for cards and letters sent to him by me. In the photographs section, i simply pasted the photographs and plain paper with tape and labeled each one and i did it chronologically. I had pictures from when i visited to our engagement party to pictures of my sonogram when i was pregnant, to the wedding and then pictures of our daughter with him, with her brothers and they all look so much alike that i hope they can see. So that's how we did it. I just wanted to be organized. Let's just all pray for each other. With God anything is possible. :star:

I organized a folder just like this and left it with my husband when I was in Guyana in Dec. I am continuing to gather things to put in the folder when I go down for the interview.

Well MrsRowe...your day is almost here. Just wanted to let you know that I am praying for your family. (F)

  10. Well I really don't know what exactly they look for during these interviews. At the story People tell you is so amazing its unbelievable. A friend of mine said that during her interview last month that is F1 all she was asked is the name of her fiance, his address and phone number and yea where he worked . Nothing else and her visa was in her hands by the next day. They are so difficult to read.

Wow! See thats what I'm saying...you never know what you will get. It sounds like she was approved before she even got there. My cousin's interview was simple too...it was a few years ago. She was the petitioner but she went to the interview with her fiance and his son. She said they were just talking and playing tick tack toe and her stepson was sitting in her lap. By the time they got called up they only ask them how they met, what were his plans for the future, and how the relationship was with her and his son. Now my other cousin....that's another story...she was denied a few years ago and he's still not here...that's because of their own mistakes though.

WHC are you going down for the interview when the time comes?

  11. You are most welcome Mrs. Rowe. Oneka I was there but I knew from the last question I as asked by the Officer something was going on in his head, but I know that the final decision isn't his it up to CIS...so as you rightfully say I am just hoping and praying that it is returned to Guyana for the issuance of the visa. I am not the kind of person that roll over and play dead...I have dealt with worst set backs and come out of it triumphantly. PRAISES TO THE MOST HIGH FOR HE ALWAYS CARRIES ME WHEN I AM TIRED AND FEELING ALONE...

    Amen!

  12. I agree with Oneka...Tell him to answer all the questions even the one that he may think is too personal because the Officer has your life story sitting infront of him on the computer. Let me share what they sent me in the email so that you will see exactly what I am saying.

Your petition is being returned to the Department of Homeland Security because the applicant was unable to establish that his marriage is not solely for immigration purposes. This case has already been reviewed by a senior Consular Officer and a decision has been made. The case will be further reviewed by the Department of Homeland Security and they will make the final decision. The beneficiary will be notified in writing when the case is dispatched.

I am sharing this because I don't want any of you to be where I am right now.

Thanks Nikita..I really do appreciate you sharing with us. Did you go the interview?

Just a little something to share:

My husband ran into a guy the other day. Never met him before in his life, but this guy proceeds to tell him about his embassy experience, not even knowing that my husband is going through the same thing. Well anyway, the guy told my husband that they asked him all kinds of personal questions and it got to the point that he wsa tired of answering that type of question and maybe showed or let it be known that he didnt want to answer. Well this guy was denied for a fiance visa. They say he did not prove his relationship with the petitioner or something like that.

So to Mrs. Rowe, please make sure your husband is calm, confident, and answers all of the questions. From what you say about him, I figure he is already like this, but make sure he answers those questions.

Nikita I pray that the final decision is the opposite of what u got in that email.

    God Bless
