  1. I would put the suburb. We did that in all other cases where they requested the city. (My husband was born in Melbourne so I couldn't really use that as an example  ) What stage are you up to in the filing process? Good luck!

Thanks. I may make a note in the cover letter as someone else suggested just to avoid any confusion, but that helps a lot.

I'm at the too-early-to call stage! We emailed the Melbourne Consulate this week to ask for an appointment to lodge the I-130...looking like mid-November. *Snore*

  2. Hi All,

For the Australian filers (or anyone else in the same situation,) did you put your suburb or city when they asked for city. For instance on my husbands birth certificate, his birthplace is Carlton...but that's really in the city of Melbourne. But Melbourne appears nowhere on his birth certificate. I don't want to be confusing. Because technically the city of Melbourne, but the space for our address doesn't really allow for suburb AND city.

    What did you guys do?

    Thanks!

    Katie.

  4. Hi Gang, I have been reading a lot here! Fantastic job everyone who contributes! It really is a fantastic resource.

I have a question about the Written Explanation of Domicile to be included with the 864 when you are overseas...does anyone have any experience in whether this should be notarized(and/or how formal this should be)? I sort of get the feeling it's just a letter explaining the circumstance and not an affidavit.

    Thanks,
