Yeah, watching neighbors boarding up their windows, filling up containers with water, trying to eat everything from the freezer, making daily calls to NVC trying to get status of the rfe which takes them already 5 days to process (1 additional word in employment description).. I wonder that being in Ike path would be a reason enough for them to move the file along to nvc completion...

I see others' rfe processed in 1-2 days, mine is stuck.. Meanwhile Oct interview dates are going fast.

We're on the north side of Houston, not in a mandatory evacuation area, so we're staying put. It's my first experience of hurricane season and part of me is scared and the other part is hoping it could just be fun to "camp out at home" for a few days! Anyone else in Houston? I'm in Houston too - the Northwest side up near Cypress. I'm 100 miles from the coast and they're still predicting some pretty incredible wind/rain for us.. My fiance arrives in two weeks; hopefully there is something left to see when he gets here. Stay safe and don't forget to fill your bathtub with water before this thing gets in and takes the power out.

My house in southwest Houston is about 50 miles from Galveston island and the Gulf as the crow flies. I spent the first half of the day putting plywood on all the windows and putting loose objects in the garage. So far the day has been a real snoozer. I just got back from riding my bicycle around the neighborhood and still waiting for the hype all the news media is talking about to hit. I'm not really worried about the storm itself, but dread the power outage that is sure to come in the middle of the night as the hurricane passes over. No air conditioning, no TV, no internet, and no lights in a boarded up house. That sux. I got plenty of beer on ice though so I'll survive. I'll miss the air conditioning the most though.

I'm in North Houston by the IAH, no air traffic today anymore, pretty windy but nothing else. Only 2 houses in the neighborhood are boarded up, don't think it's needed, hope will be ok. Also dread power outage, I was soooo smart to stock up on food, that my freezer and fridge are full, I wonder what it will look like if we'll have no power for extended period of time.

As long as not longer than 4-6 hours without power and no water outage, I think it'll be ok.

Well, until you have to get a mortgage or file 864. But still not bad, just more footwork.

And even if I worked somewhere, I still think that the spouse's arrival and first month here is extremely important time, a lot will depend on the initial adjustment. So it's a good idea to spend as much time together and help with every step and show as much as possible of the new country. But that's my personal opinion, and situation.

So my husband calls twice and gets two different answrers : first one says no date yet and if u didnt get one today then u missed oct. the second guy says no we re not done schedualing yet call back again till next thursday!!!!!

I was also told my the operator that they will schedule until Thursday, but it depends on workload at embassies.

I check the payment page periodicly by putting the NVC case number and the INN on the sign in page and saw that finally the bill for the IV was online. I imediately paid the bill and was hoping to see the PAID the next day instead I saw payment status as unpaid. I called NVC and got thru....apparently the bill was not acutally generated yet so my payment was not applied to the NVC case....they are going to see if a supervisor will apply the payment to the case and also told me if they do it will take an additional 10-14 days OUCH Big mistake...even bigger if i made a $400 donation if they dont apply it to the case!!!!!!!! Anyone else have this happen? If so what happened?

Everyone's payment is being processed like that. If you read the payment page note on the right, is clearly states that it will take 2 business days to clear and apply. Mine did same too, next day after the payment it said "not paid", day later changed to "paid". Just wait another day, do not try to pay again and do not worry, tomorrow or Monday it will clear the bank and change to "paid".

So our case was completed on August 14th and they they changed it to August 19th. I just talked to an NVC operator and he said it is possible that they will schedule our interview this week or next week but it isn't for certain. Is there a chance that we will have to wait another month and won't get even a November date? This scheduling practice concerns only CR/IR visas...I am just sick of waiting game....

Dont' worry, you should get October date. Spoke to the operator too, she said they will finish scheduling next week for October. Also I asked her if it depends on the embassies workload, she said yes. And Moscow is not a busy one, compared to some.

My wife has been driving some around town and she is improving. Only one way to get better and that is go out and do it. This past weekend we made a quick trip down to the Florida Keys to prepare our house for hurricane Ike. She wanted to drive some on the way home so I let her start down there and by God she drove the whole way home, about 4 hours. I only pissed my pants twice.

My cousin had mailed I-864 on 9-8-08 Mon by overnight mail to NVC and received by NVC on Tuesday 9-9-08, and today is Thursday and still the AVR is not saying the I-864 has been received by NVC.

When I mailed my I-864 back in June, the AVR was updated the next day it was received.

Should my cousin be worried or give it a day or two to show up in AVR.

I have told my cousin to call NVC tomorrow and talk to them about it.

It's a good idea to call operators and ask. And yes, AVR is a few days behind usually, and also it takes them extra 1-2 days to enter received forms into their system. So do not worry, but good idea to call.

Dont' worry, embassy is not closed and not going to close, and even if it would, consular affairs are never stopped, even in the event of war.

Kicking out an ambassador means nothing, there are still a lot of consular officers there and the rest of the personnel. This is just a political game.

Does not affect any visa issues whatsoever.

Now you can either mail in your DS-3032 or have your wife email it using the format in the guides. Some get an email response very fast while other wait for 1-2 weeks, I myself had to wait 5 days for the email saying the accepted the choice of agent. You only need to wait for it to say paid so that you can send your barcoded cover sheet with your AOS. You can do the steps for DS 3032 now.

Ilya, you do not have to wait for "paid" to send 3032, they are not related. Send 3032 asap, you have to wait for "paid" only to print barcode cover page for sending 864.

It should change to "paid" in about 2 business days.

According to the automated service, my case was completed at NVC on August 19 but she only received the packet yesterday. I havent received anything but will call to schedule an appointment today.

So, apparently as I suspected NVC schedules interviews not only 2 nd week of the month for the following month.

Aug 19th was 3 rd week of Aug.

Fedup, his interview is for K3 visa, and they are scheduling it differently than for CR1 , I guess.., that is why it was probably scheduled on third week

No, they are still reviewing my 864 line 22 rfe. 1 freaking word will take them 2-4 weeks to review!!!

I called operators every day 2-3 times in the last few days. I do suspect they keep track of calls, as yesterday 2 different ones seemed irritated despite my honey-voice and excessive politeness.

I will call again today, maybe I should sound rude and tough now.
