  1. Mali, Congrats!

I had my interview on June 20th, I dunno if there will be enough time for me to have the interview on July 11th.

I had my interview on Jun 9th 2008, I was not scheduled for todays July 11th 2008 oath in miami. May be we will be included in next oath.

Well for my the journey has ended. I took the oath today in what was quite a moving ceremony. It took place at 07H00 at the Miami Dade Auditorium off Flagler street, downtown.

There were 1197 new citizen sworn in.

My wife got her letter on Tuesday and she is taking oath at same venue at 3pm. I called the box office and they told me they have been booked for the 25th also. So this seems to be the venue for the month of July.

I note also that I got my letter 12-14 days before the ceremony and the same fotr my wife. This seems to be the leadtime. Just thought I would share this with you.

Sorry was not clear - my wife ceremony is for Friday 18th July with another ceremony programmed for the 25th July also, according to the box office at the auditorium.

  2. Hello,

My interview is coming up, early August.

I had a misdemeanor case ( Falsification ) back in March 2002., did not get arrested or anything, just went to court and paid fine.

The record was expunged about a year after, however as USCIS's rule wants it brought up in the appliction along wih the chraging justice papers.

To sum it up , I was wondering how much the IO will be focusing on it, since it happened over 6 yrs ago and was expunged.

The case backgroun: Was summoned by Local DMV to show proof of car insurance before a date, or licence will be suspended.

However my proof of isurance did not cover the date of my traffic stop, so changed the date on my ins. card and showed to DMV, and was caucght and charged.

Please let me know how important you think this will be in my interview.

    Thanks

No matter how small the 'issue' declare evrything and take all the paperwork with you. From the charge sheet / fine paid receipt and the expunged documents. It's all relevant.

That way nothing comes back to haunt you ever. What you want to avoid is in years to come that someone says you got your naturalization due to false information and they

strip you of your citizenship. This might sound as extreme action and there are those that will say this is far to extreme but there are no guarantee's - so play safe. Declare it all.

I do not think that the IO will focus a lot of attention but they will ask for copies of whatever docs you have for the file.

As the saying goes . . THE BEST LIE IS THE TRUTH - THAT WAY IT DOES NOT COME BACK TO HAUNT YOU!

    Good luck.

  3. Finaly as site where one can raise some questions and seek advice...

I and my wife filed for naturalization in May 2007 just before the BIG WAVE started in applications.

This have gone quite smoothly and we have had our interview on the 05/20 (mine) and my wife on 05/30 - both in Miami Beach.

We have seen dates go by on ethe 28/29 May where they had over 14,000 participate in oath ceremony at the Miami Beach Convention Centre (MBCC).

Yesterday according to the lady at MBCC and articles in the press, another 5,000 people took the oath. Congratulations!! :-)

I called the MBCC and was told that another ceremony is being held over 2 days on the 8-9 July 2008. So another big event!

Here is my question. when does one receive your letter of notification re the swearing in ceremony???

according to some forums and info this us usually 2-3 weeks and I have heard of a case where it was a week notice.

Are we being too hopefully to catch the 8-9 July? is there still a chance that I will get my letter before?

Has anyone out there received their letters already for the 8-9th?

Hi eezymiami, finally I find somebody with similar dates. I am in your same situation, I got my interview on 5/16/08, and I am also waiting for my Oath letter. I called to MBCC and a nice lady told me that Naturalization did schedule the Oath ceremony for July 8/9 but they have not confirm yet, so they are not sure if they are doing it or not. I was cheking another imigration board where a group of people were posting daily when they received the letter, but all of them got it for those 2 big ceremonies in May 28/29. The people interviewed in April got invited in May 28/29, so I was expecting to get invited for the one in June but I did not. So hopefully we get invited for the one in July. Please let me whenever you receive your letter so we can keep track of the days. I will appreciate if you let me know when you receive yours. I will do the same. Thanks

Mali - out of interest - what is the receipt date when you filed. Mine shows June 19 2007 - so according to this date seems my expected swearing in might only be in August 2008 as they are still busy with 17 APRIL 2007 files - according to the USCIS website.

  4. Hello all,

I received my interview letter last week and i am preparing my self for the interview. I know I have to know the citizenship questions but is there anything else i need to prepare. Can they also ask the questions like when were you married, just same questions like in the early process or do they just focus on citizenship questions only.

    Thanks,

    badal

I found the inspectors friendly and they where professional throughout the interview. BUT go prepared and take those extra pages of information you might need, like latest tax returns etc. Take extra 2 passport pictures incase they lost the 2 in yr file. it helps to avoid delays. The first thing they ask for is yr GC and Passport. they will then ask you some questions that are repeats of the N400. Like how many times have you been married? who you working for? when last did you travel out the country? etc. They will ask you to swear oath that you are telling them the truth etc etc. simple enough. at that point, when they are finished, they will either stamp your documents as approved or not. its important that you see this. if they do then it should be fine. From thereon I do not know who approves finally and how long it takes. I myself had interview on the 20 May and still waiting for the ceremony letter.

good luck and remain calm

  5. where they had over 14,000 participate in oath ceremony

Did each participator say the oath in turn? Did they take a group photograph? How long did that oath ceremony take? Was there free parking? Did they offer refreshments?

Seems the oath is recited as a big group. not sure about photographs and also for the rest. I heard it takes 2hrs or so. parking is available but nothing is for free :-)

not sure about refreshments but MBCC is well organised and I am sure they have available.
