Hello all,
We have the AOS interview coming up on Apr 27 and we are planning to to take an out of country vacation soon there after. The interview is at Newark DO and I was wondering if the passport is stamped after successful completion of the interview so that we can travel out of country.
Thanks.

We got married yesterday (10/02/2008). I will begin paperwork for AOS this weekend. I am hoping that by the time she graduates (12/19/2008), we are able to obtain EAD for her. I know that its a stretch but wishful thinking does not hurt.

I had no idea that AOS could be filed on M visa. I just confirmed with an immigration attorney. He mentioned that as long as her intent was not to immigrate, AOS is not a problem. I am glad that her course did not complete last year and she had to come back this year plus the fact that my naturalization process got competed in 3 1/2 months. Thanks, you guys for making the AOS part obvious in your replies earlier. This saves us a lot of time and trouble. BTW I misspelt earlier. I have been talking about my fiancee all along. We intend to get married ASAP. Hopefully this process (marriage+AOS)will also go as smooth as the Naturalization process did. Good luck to everyone. Thanks again to Nikita2Charles (pretty authoritative answer).

Greetings!
Now that I am a naturalized citizen (as of 09/19/2008), the second phase of immigration struggle starts. My fiance is currently in US on M visa which by definition is a non-immigrant visa and does not allow adjustment of status. The visa expires on Dec 17 with one month grace till Jan 17. My question is that can I file for K1 visa while my fiance is here?
Thanks.

I was approved for US Citizenship on 2008-09-03. It was a straight forward interview. My advise for all Naturalization applicants is to reply to all answers with conviction. That actually helps the IO to feel at ease (:-)) more than you. Leave all the nerves and jitters at home. Arrive at the center as early as you can and as early as they open. (Based on my discussion with a few people there). Also, People who had their interview scheduled after me went for the interview before me because they arrived at the center before me. Parking in Chicago is relatively hard to find so arriving early helps.
IO asked for my Drivers License, Green Card and passport. Most of the questions were from the N-400 itself (Where do you currently work etc etc). The civics section was fairly easy. I don't remember the questions but if you study the guide, they should not pose a problem. The IO actually asked me if he had asked me the required number of questions, to which I said yes. Despite my reply he asked me one of the questions again. He also asked me if he had made me read and write in English. I replied No and he asked me to read and write. This was actually after he had already processed the approval letter. I guess he was merely completing the formality. The IO mentioned that I should be receiving the notice for oath within 30 days. I asked him about the location of Oath and if I could request a particular day to which he said no.
This is the best forum I have come across and I would love to help anyone who has any questions to which I can provide answers.

Service Center : Nebraska Service Center
CIS Office : Chicago IL
Date Filed : 2008-06-02
NOA Date : 2008-06-09
Bio. Appt. : 2008-06-25
Interview Date :
Approved :
Oath Ceremony :
Comments : Per NOA, I should expect to be notified of the date and place of interview with in 180 days of the date of NOA.
Question: Does the interview date gets delayed if I move to a different state after my fingerprinting? Also, I will maintain a house in Chicago so do I still have to file AR11? This move is temporary. Thanks.
