HI guys and girls,
Does anyone know if you receive your paperwork back?
I'm sure I read somewhere that they send it back to you or something?
-
I too am interested in this as I am moving to the USA this Saturday and I am from England too
How did you guys transfer your money from your UK bank account to your American one? Which bank do you use as well?
-
can I work on the stamp?--but only for the 90 days till the K-1's expiry
do i have to PAY for the stamp?
Do i need to hand in document I-765 in order to get the stamp?
--The I-765 is the document you file as part of theAOS"package" (optional if you wish to wait for your GC in hand before working) for "regular"EADThank you for your help CherryXS
Do you know of any links to official government webpages that confirm this information?

Hi everyone,
I'm going to be in America as of Saturday (Woohoo!!) and I had a few questions regarding Bank accounts;
I plan to open up an American Bank account ASAP, but I want to open it with one that won't charge large fees to transfer money to/from my British bank account...
Does anyone have any suggestions?
What bank should I go for?
What type of account should I get?
Are you someone who moved from the UK to the USA? If so, what did YOU do?
Thanks

I haven't heard of anyone just getting it stamped, you have to ask for it. Once you AOS, the fee is included for the EAD.
My information regarding people saying they have automatically just recieved the stamp (some without even knowing it) can be found on the following posts:

There are other places I've heard it as well and on other websites, but I sometimes hear conflicting information;
Some people suggest they pay, several say it's free, many say they receive the stamp automatically... but no-one mentions the additional paperwork; so I'm wondering if the additional paperwork is required...? (also, is there a fee or not?)

I've heard people say that they just automatically received the stamp upon entrance.
This would suggest that there is not additional paperwork or fee involved.
Is this the case?
thanks

Hi Everyone,
I have two questions in preparation for the interview:
1. I understand that my fiancee should bring all original documents as well as one copy of each. Should the copies be brought as an extra, separate pile, or should they be attached to to originals?
2. Does she need to bring her x-ray? (She already had her medical exam)
Thanks in advance for your help.
-Oddball
The copies should be separate from the originals.
she should have the originals all assembled together, then have all the copies together in an identical package ;-)
When I had my interview the US embassy had the x-ray there waiting for me and they gave it to me then.
It was my understanding that after the medical the doctors then send all your results and x-ray to the embassy.
So if she DOES have it already then I would say to take it with her. It can't hurt to take it with.
She should be taking absolutely everything with you ;-)

Hi guys,
I've read through LOTS of posts on this forum and read many documents and stuff but I'm a little confused:
I will be entering the USA through JFK and would really like to be able to work as we need the extra income.
Now from what I understand; when entering through JFK [whether you ask for it or not] they give you a "stamp" that allows you to work.
Now this stamp is clearly NOT a document... it's a stamp. So is this different to the actual EAD?
If so; then do you still need to pay the $340 fee?
If you look on the I-9 form it puts this as DIFFERENT to the EAD:
4. An unexpired Employment Authorization Document that contains a photograph (Form I-766, I-688, I-688A, I-688B)5. An unexpired foreign passport with an unexpired Arrival-Departure Record, Form I-94, bearing the same name as the passport and containing an endorsement of the alien's nonimmigrant status, if that status authorizes the alien to work for the employer
If it really IS different; then do you even NEED to fill out the form (as short as it is) or pay the fee?
Any help from someone who has actually received the stamp from JFK and has been through this process would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
The temporary stamp only lasts till the i-94 expires, you still need to apply for ead also.
Once the stamp expires you may have to stop work till you recieve your Ead.
Thank you for your help, but even though it is limited to 90 days, I'll be getting married pretty quickly after entering the State's and filing for AOS, green card, longer EAD and all that jazz, but my questions are;
can I work on the stamp?
do i have to PAY for the stamp?
Do i need to hand in document I-765 in order to get the stamp?

Well guys and girls,
I am now in the good ol' US of A!!! Hoorah!!!
POE was great! When I got off of the plane I walked nice and fast to get ahead of everyone, then when I reached passport control there was only 2 people in front of me in the line -which was nice- then the passport guy was really nice and cheerful, directed me to the counter near the baggage claim so to get my stuff done, shook and hand and wished me luck
I then went straight to the counter, gave this nice woman my stuff, took a seat for 5 minutes and then she gave me my passport, along with the work authorization stamp and that was it! Nice and quick and easy! There was no one else there, real quiet, real nice and I was with my fiancee in no time!
All in all a great experience! :-)
I'm now sorting out a bank account, Social Security Number and getting a job!
This is all very exciting
Next stop; getting married!!!
